Who pushed that woman over into the path of a bus.

What a complete and utter wanker - who the hell does that?

Thank goodness she was OK (physically at least- she'll probably be rather nervous about walking along the pavement now Sad

BBc news states he's not released on bail??

NoLoveofMine · 11/08/2017 11:55

He's not been - he's been released "under investigation" rather than on official bail.

BelligerentGardenPixies · 11/08/2017 12:39

OMG - I did not say she fell and he tried to help her! Learn to read.

HE PUSHED HER... deliberately, after moving closer to her - I've never said anything other than that. But it is a one handed push, at least initially, hard enough to send her flying. You don't need to editorialize to make it more dramatic than it was.

WHAT HE DID IS BAD ENOUGH.

treaclesoda - please link the statement where the police and the women say it was a two handed shove. You have no idea how she described the attack and the police have not detailed the crime - you're basing your opinion on what journalists have reported to have appeared to have happened and of course they never get it wrong do they.

Glowerglass · 11/08/2017 12:41

According to the papers his name is Eric Bellquist and he's an investment banker.

Belligerent by name...

Learnt to write your posts in a clearer manner. OMG HTH.

soupforbrains · 11/08/2017 12:50

Ok, so Eric Bellquist is the man who has been arrested based on viewers of the fottage in the police appeal identifying him.

The further investigation that will be going on at the moment (and the reason while he's been released for now) is because he says that it's mistaken identity, that it wasn't him and that he can prove that he was in the USA on the date in question. The police will need time to verify (or otherwise) this alibi/claim.

The release is not down to uncertainty over whether the jogger committed the crime but over whether the man arrested IS the jogger.

bridgetoc · 11/08/2017 12:52

God I can't stand joggers and cyclists who think they own the pavements and roads.

This poor woman got in his way so he just decided to use violence to clear his path. He is a complete twat and must be punished. Although he may not have meant to push her under the bus, as the bus came from behind him, that could have been the end result of his actions if the drivers reactions weren't as good as they were.

His solicitors say he was out of the country at the time of the incident. I'd imagine that's easy enough to prove.

RolfNotRudolf · 11/08/2017 13:13

I realise now - the fact he only pushed her in front of a bus with one arm, not two, makes all the difference to his crime Confused

dustarr73 · 11/08/2017 13:16

Say g he was outof the country at the time, should be easy enough to prove. What a want.Hope theythrow the book at him.

SoPassRemarkable · 11/08/2017 13:20

To be honest without DNA evidence I reckon anyone who is arrested for this can simply deny its them whether or not they can prove they were out the country. The cctv footage isn't great quality and even if it was better people can just say it's someone who looks very much like them.

There is a girl at dds school who looks like her twin to the extent I've muddled them up before. In a city the size of London someone can just say that it's someone who looks a lot like them. I would imagine the perpetrator has binned their trainers/clothes by now.

Ceto · 11/08/2017 13:23

FFS, Belligerent's post was perfectly clear, and there's nothing indicating that she thinks the use of one hand to push makes it any better than using two hands. Why are people spoiling for a fight?

Bardo · 11/08/2017 13:23

Yes I agree he will have destroyed those shorts and runners. He is probably married though, some woman who he is a patronising shit to will know that a pair of runners have disappeared though

Mustang27 · 11/08/2017 13:26

The telegraph article says that she tried to talk to him when he went past again. Why would you do that? Why were the police not phoned and there already?

Bardo · 11/08/2017 13:27

I would do that. I would need to try and seek some sort of explanation!

She will be able to identify him though.

NoLoveofMine · 11/08/2017 13:28

There may (hopefully) be other CCTV footage of the jogger on the same day whilst he was jogging before and after the incident which provides a better image of him.

Why would you do that?

Why question the victim's behaviour? Why should she not try to challenge a man who had earlier pushed her into the road as she was just walking to work?

Mustang27 · 11/08/2017 13:29

I don't think I'd want to risk him doing worse to me second time round. They must have footage of that as well. Could this guy fake that he was out of the country?

NoLoveofMine · 11/08/2017 13:30

How do you know they have footage of it? The initial footage was from a bus. There were possibly more people around by then and either way why judge her perfectly reasonable behaviour because you wouldn't do it? She was perfectly entitled to challenge him.

Mustang27 · 11/08/2017 13:30

Oh please don't group me into victim blamers here. I just think I'd be to scared to confront him, she was very brave imo.

53rdWay · 11/08/2017 13:31

Why were the police not phoned and there already?

It was only 15 minutes after the initial incident. Can't really conclude much from the police not being at the scene already by then.

MeanAger · 11/08/2017 13:34

To be honest without DNA evidence I reckon anyone who is arrested for this can simply deny its them whether or not they can prove they were out the country.

Well there are witnesses who can identify him from photographs or an ID parade.

Mustang27 · 11/08/2017 13:34

If they can get to domestic abuse calls in 5 mins (from experience) this has to be in the same category. I'm not blaming the police or the victim I just find it really scary that this man could get away with this and do much worse next time.

NoLoveofMine · 11/08/2017 13:38

We don't know when the police were called or if they had even been called at this time. The victim would have been in shock, people from the bus got off to help her, so who knows if anyone had called the police at this point. Perhaps she or someone else did when he reappeared, perhaps it was reported later. If they had been called response times aren't great anymore so the nearest available unit could have been some distance away, with significant traffic to contend with in that area.

I also find it chilling, not least because there's only even a reasonable chance of him being found due to it being on CCTV - which most incidents like this won't be.

Teddy1970 · 11/08/2017 13:39

Can you imagine what he's like at home if he can do that in broad daylight?
