Who pushed that woman over into the path of a bus.

What a complete and utter wanker - who the hell does that?

Thank goodness she was OK (physically at least- she'll probably be rather nervous about walking along the pavement now Sad

There you go Elendon. I knew I wouldn't be the only one.

londonista · 10/08/2017 17:29

Surely there must be a mental health issue at play here? Why do people pick out randomers or do crazy stuff like try to open the door in the middle of a flight?

Not excusing this BTW he obviously needs to be off the streets.

Remember the woman who randomly picked up a cat and put it in the in?? I feel a bit similar about that - just so random. She wasn't even in his way.

londonista · 10/08/2017 17:30

In the bin that should be.

How's that edit button coming along Mumsnet Hmm

Trying to open the door on a flight puts the person doing it at risk so I'd be much more likely to think that a person doing it has 'problems'.

Pushing a woman over in the street though has a much simpler explanation which is that he did it because he can.

MarshaBrady · 10/08/2017 17:42

Well can't be sure, but it's more likely to be pure aggression.

There's no shortage of aggression on the streets towards women, just because, although this is much worse.

InvisableLobstee · 10/08/2017 17:45

This is awful I just watched the video. Shocking! That bus driver should get some kind of award for great driving though.

nina2b · 10/08/2017 17:45

The perp is grey and rather porky so unlikely to be a mere 30 something. Oh I think he will be recognised and treated accordingly. At least I really hope so.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/08/2017 17:47

Glad to see someone has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.

BelligerentGardenPixies · 10/08/2017 17:55

Not a trip. There was half a person space between them, until he veers towards her (you can see by how his shadow changes). She is transferring her weight onto her right foot as they are almost level and he's already shoving her at that point. Her leg raises as she falls, not before.

She may well have injured the base of her spine and or her skull with that fall.

Psychotic prick - hope they throw the book at him.

RolfNotRudolf · 10/08/2017 17:56

Wasn't there a case recently where a man attached a random newborn baby in its pram in a supermarket? If I remember correctly he tried to claim some mental or cognitive debility but his claim wasn't accepted.

dustarr73 · 10/08/2017 17:56

Why must there be mental health oroblems. Why can't he be just a fucker who pushes an innocent woman
Why all the excuses, trying to get him away from his responsible.

He'll probably use mental health to try and get off..

KathyBeale · 10/08/2017 17:57

I'm a big feminist and generally quite aware of how men take up too much space, but I am only just realising quite how often I have been shoved out of the way by men. Just the other day, I was walking down to Embankment tube station and a man - smartly dressed, young-ish - shoved in between me and the woman who was walking next to us and made her stumble enough for me to catch her arm. I didn't even think anything of it - because it happens all the time.

Interestingly, on holiday last year we were at a water park and I was queuing for a slide with my son for a little while. Where our queue was, it crossed the top of the stairs where people were coming up to join our queue and others. I was fascinated by how every single little girl who came up the stairs looped round the end of our queue and went on their way, and every single little boy shoved their way through in between the queuers. It was very interesting to see how early male entitlement to 'space' obviously starts.

RolfNotRudolf · 10/08/2017 18:00

I still have a suspicion that the incident wasn't publicised for 3 months because the police tried to down play it and only the woman's persistence meant that video evidence was retrieved and analysed. The police didn't exactly rush to the scene - if they'd been present when the woman saw the jogger 15 mins later surely they could have apprehended him?
Bit like the case with the up-skirter where the police response was to delete the evidence at the scene. Confused

nina2b · 10/08/2017 18:00

The "trip" theory is barking. Fgs

AztecHero · 10/08/2017 18:05

The man who punched the baby tried to claim he thought it was one of those real-life looking dolls and he was just 'joking'.

Ha fucking ha.

nina2b · 10/08/2017 18:08

Whatever he uses to escape proper punishment, matters not a jot. He has been outed which is very very pleasing. Might make the rest of the shovers think twice from now on.

NotMyPenguin · 10/08/2017 18:08

@Annandale and @Elendon the updated police press release does now actually say he is 50, just FYI... news.met.police.uk/news/update-arrest-made-in-relation-to-putney-bridge-254417

nina2b · 10/08/2017 18:10

Think the idea the police are taking action now because of the victim's insistence, might be near the truth.

londonista · 10/08/2017 18:11

Dustarr on the contrary I think if he does use mental problems as a defence he is more than likely to not get off. He's clearly a danger to the public.

I am a bit shocked anyone could look at that footage and think it was anything other than a random completely unprovoked attack. We've only seen one view but the police will have seen other CCTV angles as well.

She wasn't in his way, she didn't kick him, she wasn't face down in her phone. In fact if anything he had to move over to get to her. Absolutely chilling.

RolfNotRudolf · 10/08/2017 18:11

AztecHero I've just found a link to the baby attacker. The judge didn't accept his argument that he thought she was a doll but still gave him only a fine, not a suspended sentence or community hours Confused

londonista · 10/08/2017 18:11

And I don't see why this isn't attempted murder. He waited for a bus and tried to push her under it.

londonista · 10/08/2017 18:13

Nina2b I can only hope that's not the case. She came so close to being killed, I would hope for the reason of protecting the public she didn't have to chase it to be investigated.

OuaisMaisBon · 10/08/2017 18:15

This is lifted directly from the Met's FB page - despite the clear description of what happened, people are still maintaining in the comments that the victim obviously tried to trip the jogger up - it's beyond belief when obviously the police know it was not the woman's fault at all.

"Arrest made in relation to assault on Putney Bridge

Police investigating an assault after a jogger appeared to push a woman into the path of an oncoming bus in Putney have made an arrest.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following police enquiries at an address in the Chelsea area on the morning of Thursday, 10 August.

He was taken to a south London police station for questioning. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Officers previously issued CCTV of the incident and received a good response from the appeal.

At about 7:40am on Friday, 5 May the 33-year-old victim was walking across Putney Bridge on the east side heading towards Putney Bridge Tube Station when a male jogger knocked her over into the road and into the path of an oncoming bus, which narrowly missed hitting her.

The bus stopped and some passengers got off and rushed to the victim's aid. She received minor injuries from the incident.
About 15 minutes later the jogger came back the other way across the bridge. The victim tried to speak to him but he did not acknowledge her and carried on jogging."

RolfNotRudolf · 10/08/2017 18:16

The police may have taken the view that it must have been an accident and didn't believe otherwise until they had the cctv evidence.

BoneyBackJefferson · 10/08/2017 18:18

Littlegreyauditor

I am somehow "arrogant" and "aggressive" yet you are the one name calling,

But yes it has been ably demonstrated by you.
