To buy weight loss drugs on line that gp prescribed me years ago

My gp prescribed me weight loss pills years ago when they were being trialled in this country . They were called reductil . I had 2.5 stone to lose and they worked amazingly . They reduce your appetite . I dropped from 12 stone to 10 stone in 3 months and felt so so healthy . They have now been banned because can cause high blood pressure . All the research shows that the risk is in severely obese people and not much risk in persons with just a couple stone to lose . I lost the weight with pills and changed my lifestyle and I stayed 10 stone till I got pregnant with my 3 red baby (after 3 years of keeping weight off ) and then had the shortest pregnancy because of crippling spd that meant I could only walk using crutches . I gained 4 stone and have sonde had another baby and I am now 13st 4oz at 5ft 7 so again I'd like to lose couple stone . I have zero will power and I keep thinking of reductil and how well they worked ( they were also licensed as an anti depressant ) but the only place I can buy them is internet . I know it's daft but it would only be 3 months and then if he back to my preferred weight . I am rubbish at diets and have tried slim wod but don't really like the recipes and have about 3 meals I like and eat all the time so get bored . Iv tried low carb etc etc I just have no willpower and those pills made it so so easy and I literally took one pill a day and hardly felt hungry and after few bites I was full . They also made me feel so happy (antidepressant quality worked ) . I know il probably get called lazy and stupid for wanting to buy them . AIBU ? I have researched the health risks and it seems it's more risky if you are morbidly obese ?

Buying drugs online is risky.

Buying a drug that is no longer licensed is even more risky.

HerOtherHalf · 08/08/2017 11:35

It's your choice. You should be aware though that the Internet is awash with counterfeit pharmaceutical drugs and also ones manufactured in unregulated facilities. No matter how professional the website looks, or what the product says on the box, you have no way of knowing the quality or even that it contains what it should.

Also, if you do have an adverse reaction and end up having to go to your GP you will either have to keep her in the dark and reduce her ability to treat you or come clean and risk having a note on your file that you have been self-prescribing prescription meds.

LIZS · 08/08/2017 11:38

What may have been appropriate years ago may not suit you now. Surely being overweight carries blood pressure risks which may be worsened by this drug. Are you not able to resume your previous successful lifestyle changes?

Areyoufree · 08/08/2017 11:40

Can you not speak to your GP? I think buying them online is a really bad idea.

FineSally · 08/08/2017 11:44

don't do it.

there is a good reason they have been banned - not just here but in most of the world.

fuckingbubbling · 08/08/2017 12:37

You could be buying anything don't be so bloody stupid

ilovesooty · 08/08/2017 12:52

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

FannyWisdom · 08/08/2017 12:54

Private prescription would be better.
Counterfeit drugs are big business.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 08/08/2017 12:55

YABU. It's a really bad idea!

NotAUserNumberSoNotATroll · 08/08/2017 12:55

It was stopped because it was linked to heart attacks and stroke, responsible for 17 deaths.

Depends if being thin is worth risking your life for!

Isetan · 08/08/2017 12:55

You have to ask! Come on OP you really can't be this stupid. Which part of buying unlicensed drugs from an unverified source sounds sensible?

Essentially you are prepared to risk your health for a temporary quick fix because you aren't prepared to put the damn work in.

NotAUserNumberSoNotATroll · 08/08/2017 12:57

It's worth reading this article
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dietpillswatchdog.com/reductil/amp/

specialsubject · 08/08/2017 12:59

If you really have three kids then don't dick about with your health. It is not about you anymore.
If the over eating has mental triggers, address those.

WordsAreWind · 08/08/2017 13:04

Have you seen the list of Countries it has been banned from?

Just looking at that should give you your answer.

pigsDOfly · 08/08/2017 13:07

You have 4 dependent children and you're willing to go on line and buy something from some dodgy website that has been banned because it can kill you because you can't be arsed to put yourself out to lose a bit of weight?

Now does that really sound like a good idea OP?

OurMiracle1106 · 08/08/2017 13:10

There are other weight loss tablets such as orlistat which the doctor can prescribe and is safe.

However i found exercising more and only eating when hungry (not bored or emotional) has meant I have dropped and kept off 2.5 stone in 8 months.

Welshrainbow · 08/08/2017 13:52

Don't do it, ask your dr to prescribe different weight loss pills or try alli from boots it's the same as the oralist at you can get on prescription but a lower dose.

Farmerswife4life1984 · 08/08/2017 17:22

Thanks for the shake up . I know it's a daft idea . I need to do it the proper way . Iv done it before so I know I can do it . When gp prescribed them years ago it honestly was so easy and I felt fantastic . I only took them 3 months and managed to stay slim until I got pregnant . I knew deep down it was a bad idea xx

I'm glad you're not going to do it. Good luck!

pigsDOfly · 08/08/2017 19:44

You haven't got masses of weight to lose, you just need to get yourself into the mind frame of it and approach it with the idea that you can do it, rather than telling yourself how hard it's going to be.

It is doable, honestly.

harleysmammy · 08/08/2017 19:50

When my sister was younger, she was bullied for being "fat"..she wasn't at all - and she bought drugs online that were "licensed" and "available from uk pharmacies", she had to have her stomach pumped and was in hospital for 7 weeks as they weren't what they said they were. I wouldn't, far too risky

ranoutofusernameideas · 08/08/2017 23:21

It's not worth the risk! You don't have loads to lose, just do it the proper healthy way.

Hammy12345 · 08/08/2017 23:29

I took this drug a few years back, it did work amazingly well. Since having children I have gained weight and wanted to use it again. My friend bought some online for an extortionate price but they literally came loose in an envelope - they could have been absolutely anything. So, like you, if I could get them from a GP I would take them again, but think I am just going to have to grow some willpower.
On a different note, I have tried orlistat but it had horrendous side effects and would never be tempted to try it again!

bluebell34567 · 08/08/2017 23:41

orlistat is a stupid drug, don't waste your money on it.
boots 3 point slim aid is not bad. its like vitamin complex but keeps you full.

SoleBizzz · 08/08/2017 23:59

I remember being prescribedprescribe Reductil. Made my heart beat fast and I was very thirsty.

Best ever was Adifax. I lost five stones using that. Went back to get my prescription and it has been banned.
