To be FURIOUS that dh drove home with dd2 in the car without putting her in her booster seat?

Well in fact I know that I am completely justified.

Nobboid

She was having a complete strop when he left his mums to bring her and dd1 home. Dd1 was fine, dd2 refused to get in her chair so he took it out and put her on the seat with the seatbelt on.

1 min drive but that is not the sodding point.

Can you all glare at him through this screen please so he gets the MN disapproving vibes?

I thank you

Olive

Point him at this leaflet . It makes very sobering reading for anyone tempted to bend the safety rules.

I don't drive so sometimes, not very often, I take taxis with the DDs. DD1 3.5 yo wears a seatbelt tho just the bit over her lap as the diagonal bit would go across her face and neck, I wear a seatbelt and DD2 goes in my arms. I now it's not good enough but how else am i supposed to do it?

You buy a car seat for the purpose of taking in a taxi? (Yes you don't legally have to but honestly it's not like there's some invisible forcefield around taxis making them immune to accidents is there?) If she weighs more than 15kg then technically all that is needed (though definitely not the safest option by far) is a HBB which is fitted into place with the seatbelt and are fairly inexpensive.

Clearly I missed that part but it was also written in present tense which gives the impression it's a current situation not 15 years ago.

It was the present....15 years ago

Who writes in the past tense just in case someone accidentally see the thread in 15 years 😂

It was a current situation when she wrote the post in 2007.

I expect the kid started uni in September. 😂

CloudybutMild · 10/11/2022 17:05

One minute drive? I don’t think what he did was unreasonable.

Crap, sucked in to a zombie thread.

Sorry!

OH the thread was 15 years ago 😅 jeeze I swear the one time I don't actually read the dates on the post first, I'll go home 😅

DoNotEatPickles · 10/11/2022 17:07

Not only is it awful to think of what could happen if there were an accident, but there was also a case where a mum lost out on compensation for her daughter who had been injured in a car accident because she had not put her in the most appropriate restraint that was in the vehicle at the time.

How - how do you end up clicking on a thread from this long ago?! We’re you googling car seats not used or something?

Trunki does a travel booster.

Has rucksack straps.

Can put stuff in it too (doubled as a bag).

It's less comfortable than a regular rucksack but a booster seat rucksack is going to be.

LemonDrop22 · 10/11/2022 17:18

I got a trunki booster in my local kids 2nd hand shop for 4 quid but I'm sure eBay has some I'd you don't want to pay full whack.

LemonDrop22 · 10/11/2022 17:19

Oh FFS ZOMBIE.

However I still recommend trunki travel.boosters 😀

Psycho · 29/03/2007 16:07

I've done that.

Ds older though (4).

But didn't have the seat (in Dh's car), just going round the corner, in a hurry....

and I can't guarantee I'l never do it again......

Get another fucking seat! If you can’t afford one you can’t afford the car

Psycho's son is now 19, it's a bit late to advise her to get another fucking seat.

For me it came up up on page 2 or 3 of AIBU, glitch possibly? MN HQ boosting zombie threads to have a laugh at the expense of those of us who don't read properly before replying? Who knows.
