I mean I know they're hormonal,I know they're all nice really but it looms out at me so offensively when I click on active threads. Couldn't it be renamed a more cuddly title? Something cutsey and babylike though a little annoying would do fine!

derlor · 28/03/2007 19:22

well in MY opinion you should change your name to RUNTOTHEHILLS and do just that!!! oh by the way I am one of the hormonal pregnant ones!

ScottishMummy · 28/03/2007 19:24

RanToTheHills · 28/03/2007 19:24

bEllieK · 28/03/2007 19:25

we have been secretly plotting REALLY awful April ones for a while now

us hold a gridge, never

AitchTwoOh · 28/03/2007 19:28

yeah, you lot wouldn't recognise a gridge if it came up and bit you on the arse.

RanToTheHills · 28/03/2007 19:29

MANSARD ROOFS?

OP posts:
foxybrown · 28/03/2007 19:37

ok, ok, tell us about mansard roofs.

really, am all ears.

Well, eyes.

Katy44 · 28/03/2007 19:39
  1. How come we get the usual cliches about hormonal pregnant women on these threads? We're not the ones who have a fainting fit at a thread title, are we?
  2. For the record, before we get the patronising "Oh they'll see when they're up to their eyes in nappies", most of us are NOT first time mums (although I am, so maybe I will)
  3. If you genuinely are upset by a thread title, go on to the thread, explain, and politely ask them to do something about it. IME very few people set out to offend others (most thread titles are just reminders of discussions within the thread) and will start a new one so it drops off active conversations as soon as possible.

RTTH - this isn't aimed at you, just a general rant as these sorts of threads seem to be popping up more and more often - we get the 'babydust', the patronising and the hormonal comments.

Katy44 · 28/03/2007 19:40

Yes, what on earth is a mansard roof??

greenday · 28/03/2007 19:47

I love the title! I'm just looking for an opportunity to say it to someone now I'm pregnant too.

Katy44 · 28/03/2007 19:49

Well I've got about 3 weeks to go and I haven't had the chance yet (my face must naturally repel people!)
When are you due?

marylou23 · 28/03/2007 19:53

Sorry, have to dive in here. Offensive? Really? Personally I love the title - actually, I wanted a teeshirt with 'you toucha my bump I smasha your face' on it. Number one, it's a joke. Number two, people DO grab your bump - my bump, at least - and it's hugely annoying and far too intimate and I don't like it one bit, but it's hard to tell people, especially those who think you're just being precious. The title came about because we'd been discussing the issue of bump grabbers and how to get the message across. And we've had several people join the thread just to say how much they like it. So I'm sorry, but personally? Yes, you are being unreasonable! (and hands off the bump...)

Pelvicfloornomorechocolate · 28/03/2007 20:41

I love the thread title and even posted on there to say so,it makes me laugh every time i see it.

LittleSarah · 28/03/2007 20:51

Not in my opinion! I generally dislike all the ante natal thread titles, cutsey, naff, trying to hard, etc, etc. That particular one falls under both naff and trying to hard.

IN MY OPINION!

But I am glad they are all there, I like to have a little snigger at them.

LittleSarah · 28/03/2007 20:51

(And people are way too precious about their bumps IMO)

boysontoast · 28/03/2007 21:02

wondering why on earth anyone would find the energy to HATE someone elses thread title.

a harmless innocuous little thread title.

holy mololy, how bloody easily are you offended???

there are some SERIOUSLY precious people about on mn lately... dont like this, offended by that, cant bear to listen to advice... suggest such delicate flowers stay off the internet and go play safe little board games or solitaire or something instead...

foxybrown · 28/03/2007 21:02

But how is someone putting their hand on your bump different to putting their hand on your tits?

No one should touch you if you don't want them to.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 28/03/2007 21:04

foxy are you there? We need a new thread title now, the old one is full!!!

MegaLegs · 28/03/2007 21:06

Yes YABU. It's a great thread title.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 28/03/2007 21:06

Little Sarah do you enjoy it when someone pinches your arse, coz I don't. In fact the last person who attempted it got a slap round the face! Bump feeling is infinately more personal and uncomfortable.

foxybrown · 28/03/2007 21:06

Quick! Start a new one. But be careful! Don't want to offend ....

er, how DO you start a new thread?

FrannyandZooey · 28/03/2007 21:06

I think the frequent objections with the antenatal threads is mostly because they pop up again and again and again for a long period of time

the wanking threads (or whatever) come and go and within a couple of days are gone, but "I smasha your face" or "minty spunk" or "knicker sniffers" or whatever is there DAY after DAY after DAY after DAY after DAY, virtually constantly in active convos

if I was picking something that was going to keep being bumped again and again for weeks at a time I would pick something VERY inoffensive and bland, personally

whywhywhy · 28/03/2007 21:08

I like the thread title.

Go for it ladies- smash 'em up

foxybrown · 28/03/2007 21:08

so THATS where Minty Spunk came from!
See, told you I didn't make it up.
