I know he was terrible in education. He seemed to despise teachers and never to go to them for answers.

But I understand he did better at prison reform.

And the announcement about cars is brilliant.

I am worried about myself now.

'Had enough of experts' not tired of facts.

God forbid you go through his 'rigorous' exam system and learn something.

They put him on ice because he lost the female vote with all his mithering about the public sector (which is primarily staffed by women). He has not been brought down. He is still causing trouble. It cannot be beyond the wit of womankind to sort him out properly.

I thought Estelle was good too, but their PFI thing was a disaster.

"Will we never be rid of this odious goblin?"
I'm stealing that Grin
it's a bit reminiscent of Henry II "who will rid me of this troublesome priest?" shame there's not a gang of dimwitted Knights to take us up on the offer.

I am just amazed both he and Alex Johnson (I refuse to use his stage name) are allowed out in the daylight. They've damaged the Tory party so very deeply, and toxified the brand. And we saw their naked, greedy game plans in all its glory just after the Brexit vote as they jostled to be PM. They think voters are absolute idiots.

So he got a few prisoners reading books? Anyone on MN could have done that, in reflection. We shouldn't be pleased with him just because he didn't fuck up his brief as usual.

And it says an awful lot about the shortcomings of the Oxbridge admissions process (and indeed some of the teaching) in the 1980s that we have these men, intellectual. lightweights and dilettantes both, held up as praiseworthy. I am very glad some of that is being professionalised. Reform may be glacial but st least it's happening,

BoffinMum · 07/08/2017 06:09

The admissions process abs teaching, that is.
