DD's bottle has gone missing. Her brother has been taking them to random places around the house all week. I've searched all his usual haunts but can't find it any where. Where would an almost 2 year old put a bottle? We're in a standard 3 bedroom semi. I can't ask him as he's fast asleep.

In the tumble drier, in toy boxes, chest of drawer, cupboard, wardrobe, dishwasher, under the pillow, inside the pillow case, down the back of the couch, under the couch, in a jacket sleeve, in a shoe or boot.

wonkylegs · 03/08/2017 20:22

Under the sofa
In the middle of the lawn
In the goals on the lawn
In the toy box
In the washing machine
In the shoe cupboard
Under a cushion
In a saucepan
In the crisper box at the bottom of the fridge
In DVD cupboard
Under his covers
In with the teddies
On the side of the bath
Under his step for brushing his teeth

These are all places I have fished out 15mth ds2s bottle this week - put there by him

Good luck

Dancinginthemidnight · 03/08/2017 20:23

It's the babies bottle not the 2 year olds.

sphinxster · 03/08/2017 20:23

Absolutely love these lists reflecting people's past traumas!

It's DD's bottle who is 5 months old. DS (21 months) took it and put it where he deemed more appropriate.

Do you have a wine rack like this? My DD loves hiding things in our wine rack in the kitchen. We don't store anything in them because we were scared she'd pull bottles out and hurt herself.

Cross post. Glad you found it.

My 2yo has lost my ddogs collar so ive had to order a new collar and tag. £12 for the bloody tag alone 😭

It looks like we've hit that special age then! Time to put everything on high shelves and nail up the letter box.

My 2 yr old loves stashing things behind the curtains, in the TV cabinet, in the shower/bath, under furniture (anything with a gap under it) and sometimes puts inanimate objects to bed somewhere so someone will climb into bed and get a duplo block shoved into their buttcheek.

Check dishwasher, washing machine/drier, cupboards, shoes/wellies, toyboxes, laundry basket and if you have a cat flap in a door then check outside the door...kids LOVE posting things lol

SunshinenSparkles · 03/08/2017 22:19

Sorry I posted before reading all the replies....glad you found it! xx

Hunkle · 03/08/2017 22:19

In the dolls pushchair/pram.

Down the side of the bed.

In the cupboard with the saucepans/cat food/tea towels.

FreezerBird · 03/08/2017 22:20

You reckon that'll do it? When ds was that age I seriously contemplated just slinging a cargo net from the four corners of the ceiling and keeping everything in that...

Fruitbat1980 · 03/08/2017 22:20

We are still missing a beloved shleich buffalo. Christ knows where it is. I shall search the shoe rack tomorrow. #6weeksgone I bought another but 3 year old keeps saying 'grufallo friend gone' Hmm

Igottastartthinkingbee · 03/08/2017 22:23

Once found my phone tucked away in an oven glove! I was stumped for ages, then I had to cook dinner and found it!

heateallthebuns · 03/08/2017 22:34

Down the side of the bed. In the fridge?

ipswichwitch · 03/08/2017 22:42

DS2 (3yo) is a master at hiding things. Managed to hide his shoes at nursery where they weren't discovered for 3 days Hmm. Really felt sorry for the staff who tore the place apart looking for them - in nappy bins and all sorts.

He likes to hide all his playmobil accessories inside other toys - in trucks, cars, in the bins that go with his rubbish truck. Anything with a lid/compartment he can open to shove stuff in.

Other hiding places have included, inside shoes, inside the cardboard tube on the toilet roll, in the cat bed, the toilet (that's where I found my toothbrush Hmm), between the gaps in the decking (credit card and £5 note), and most recently the cat litter tray. I watch the little bugger like a hawk now, and pray to god he grows out of it soon!

ReallyNormalForNorfolk · 03/08/2017 22:48

In the fridge. Ds always used to put his teddy in there, then get upset when he couldn't find him at bedtime. Apparently he liked to cuddle him when he was cold!

sphinxster · 04/08/2017 07:50

We've already had a year of emptying the bed of toy cars and building blocks every night, and check before we slump onto the sofa!

I think I'll empty the house and put everything into storage for a year or so, and buy a bumbag to keep my debit card and phone in, and install Velcro 6' up the walls for bottles, blankets, cutlery, remote control, etc... That should do it. Grin

We had a heart-sinking moment last night when we finally sat down and couldn't immediately see the remote control.

It's difficult when they start "putting things away". I remember DD putting the house keys in the oven when she was that age....

toomuchtooold · 04/08/2017 09:14

Nothing but sympathy. Our kids are bloody 5 and they still do this shit. DD2 takes her old baby bear comforter thingy around with her all the time and she regularly loses him in the house and then goes batshit when she can't find him in time for bed. He's always somewhere that isn't a place, if you know what I mean? Down the side of the stairs, or behind the toilet door. It drives me up the wall. Twice I've wasted spent my evening doing a fingertip search of the whole house to find the fluffy little bastard. She calls him Troublemaker now. That's his name. We all call him that.

Namechange54 · 04/08/2017 10:14

Glad you found it. My DD has a similar habit with shoes, phones, keys, money, anything. My mobile phone vanished last year, we still have no idea where it is...

FlaviaAlbia · 04/08/2017 10:19

I found two half eaten fossilised babybel, an action figure and something else I've forgotten trauma has blocked it clearly in my wool bag the other day. I really don't want to think about how long they've been there.

IThoughtYouSaidGin · 04/08/2017 10:28

Any kind of bag.

Whenever something goes missing in this house it's in a toy bag/backpack somewhere

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 04/08/2017 11:34

Glad you found it-isn't it amazing how you can sometimes look at something and not see it though! My best one years ago was while networking at a conference, rummaged in my bag for a pen to note down someone's contact details and pulled out a 4 inch tall plastic penguin Grin
