To ask about Don't tell the Bride

Does anyone know anyone that's been on Don't tell the Bride?

I'm just watching the latest episode and am really curious about the rate of divorce after the show. So many of the lads seem such knobs

@stupidlybroody my DM hates weddings and would care about mine but with minimum "omg weddinggggg!" excitement. I always thought I would miss a hugely important experience until I saw this batshit crazy MoB!

I loved her toddler level tantrums at anything she couldn't control (it was DTTB, so everything) and her trying to bedeck the bride in loo roll a la American Bachelorette games! I know it's set up but she did genuinely seem hard work/controlling monster. The groom planned an amazing, normal wedding and I wonder if they did DTTB to stop MoB trying to take over or to avoid having to do as she said due to her having financial input. They didn't seem the types otherwise.

It would be much better telly if they were allowed to not go through with it. And it REALLY annoys me that they all seem to have non legal ceremonies now. Earlier series were much better.

I know someone who has been on the show and the grooms are given three choices on most things so they're set up to feel they're doing well but fail, e.g. Wedding in a field, wedding on a boat, wedding indoors and if they know the bride is not outdoorsy or a fan of sailing they go for the obvious choice. Similarly, it's average looking dress from Debenhams or job lot from a market stall made from stretchy Lycra. So within their choices if they manage to pick a coherent theme they're doing really well.

You never see grooms now that have their own strong ideas. The Willy Wonka and space ones were clearly something the grooms genuinely liked and had thought of. Unlike banana boat man. Though clearly if they'd been on four holidays in six months and drove a BMW and a Mercedes they could have afforded a few more tea lights and bags of Doritos.

I watched the one last week (and have last nights one playing as I type) and aside from the ceremony, the actual reception was quite nice. A little villa with good views, close friends and family and nice weather.
The show made a big hoopla about the groom 'only' providing pringles and such, whereas he had organised a catered bbq and drinks but that got completely glossed over.

My FIL never made it onto camera, but was heavily slagged off discussed in one episode as the vicar who wouldn't allow a couple a church wedding. The producer wanted him on camera but MIL chased the production team away every time they knocked on the vicarage door! Church rules state that you just can't plan a wedding in only 3 weeks (something to do with the reading of the bans), but the way it was played out on camera, you'd think that FIL was just being inconvenient for the sake of it. It was also the production team, not the groom, who did absolutely all of the 'negotiations' with FIL.

Yes it was Pippa!

I had a supply teacher who was on there. She was an art teacher, and decided to do the show because she knew the stress of trying to make everything perfect would be too much. I don't know exactly when they got married, but she was married when I met her 4 years ago and still is now. And has 2dc

@Catra I had a feeling that one wouldn't last, she seemed very bossy.

Also @stupidlybroody if it's Nicky and Nathan from season 4 and I'm pretty sure it is, it's now on All 4. I'm saving it for this evening and wine GrinWineWine
