AIBU?

AIBU that I hate with a passion people that don't RTFT

It's the ones where the OP lashes out on their first post and we then get the full back story and their initial anger and distress often starts to make more sense. And then suddenly half the thread becomes absolute lazy fuckers going I haven't RTFT but you are twat. Usually within a few posts of the OP saying they are feeling suicidal or disclose past abuse.

Fucking fumes me up something chronic

OP posts:

Would people like this simply barge into a social gathering and say "I haven't been listening to the conversation but I think you should all listen to myopinion anyway"?

And as for people who simply don't take in the information given by the OP
.. Angry

What's worse though is when they don't even read the initial op properly

Just reading the OP's posts is ok but does lead to the teeth itchingly irritating people who post "going against the grain here" and then post an opinion or advice which at least 30 people have already posted, just not in the first page...

Oh yes "how old are your children OP?"

... when it's clearly stated already.

drinkingtea · 02/08/2017 20:25

camel you can highlight all the OP's posts in a different colour in 'settings'

It's slightly annoying. No need for such hate.

Reading a thread full of fucking place markers is even more annoying.

I really don't care and I don't understand why anybody does.

Same with the people who post whingy "ZOMBIE THREAD!" posts, thereby keeping the thread on the first place. If you don't like reading old threads, don't read them.

I find people who think "Cancel the cheque!" is hilarious more tiresome...

Place marking is often effectively troll hunting and I think MNHQ should be doing more to discourage it.

I demand a diagram, Op.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this but you can usually contact your bank who will cancel the cheque.

It's not an in-person conversation though. In real life would you expect someone to lay out every single detail of a situation before responding and, when they add a detail, shout "DRIP FEED?" No. But people do that on MN.

ChasingHighs · 02/08/2017 20:35

And while we are at it, the CFN stuff can fuck off too.

Thanks, Constance. Grin

But yes there is a lot of tiresomeness on MN - use of "cancel the cheque" and "penis beaker" to demonstrate longevity always baffles me - why mention the two stories that were widely covered in mainstream news?!

I also don't get the declaring of "Namechanged for this" or that DH having the extremely niche hobby of cycling would be in some way "outing"...

In general I love MN though. It makes me laugh and keeps me sane.

Sorry for seperate posts, I pressed Post too soon.

What's CFN?

Mysterious hobbys on MN are funny though.

Can't comment unless you post a diagram OP. This would be especially handy for the next 200 people to ask you to post a diagram.

Cheeky fucker Neighbours or summat.

9 fucking threads about one neighbour, Who has the staying power? I get bored after a thread reaches 100 posts Grin

Report
Alexandrite · 02/08/2017 20:44

It's people who don't bother to read the op properly that get me.

Op - Dd is 3 and she blah blah
Response - how old is your dd?

Op - What meal could I cook when we have friends over. They are allergic to chicken.
Response - how about a chicken curry?

I often don't RTFT. Too many pages and not even time. I don't even mind drip feeders...sometimes folk forget things and a response makes them remember something. I'm not a fan of reverses though. They do annoy the hell out of me.
