Annoyed that my DS caught a cold from his cousin

My DS is sick .. mainly because we met his cousin last weekend and she was sick. DS is 5 months old..

I am just a bit annoyed because SIL & MIL didn't tell me before that DNiece was sick. Also they kept trying to touch and hug DS without washing their hands right after touching DNiece. The worst was when they came really close to DS and she sneezed on him. Then my mil says it's good for him to build up his immunity Hmm

I haven't said anything to them because what can you say? It would have been good for them to give me a heads up that DNiece was sick so I can choose not to go meet them.

I know I can't wrap him in cotton wool forever but I'm just a bit annoyed. I respect other people's children enough to not bring him to meet other people when he is sick.

He's just been screaming and crying his head off with a fever and snotty nose.. I feel so bad for the poor baby Sad

Sigh, just wanted to rant, that is all

That's the whole point lizzy - it could have been helped in this case - op's baby was knowingly exposed to this cold without warning (e.g. Is it ok if we still come, we have colds)

I've just given my dd some nurofem. She had a minor op on Thursday - guess that's going to have to be postponed! But hey you lot, enjoy merrily spreading your germs.

PickAChew · 01/08/2017 23:26

Colds are crap, but he'll be catching them every few weeks for the next 16 years or so, so you just need to get over it and get used to it.

Aw, it's sad the first time your first baby doesn't feel well. I sobbed. Six week old DS2 has had two colds already (thank you, toddler). Significantly less traumatizing this go round. Wink

Anewcareer can you share any of the research re why getting colds while a baby is better for you? Will make me feel a bit better about him being sick

Feral thank you for the tips! Will try them

Of course he is my pfb Wink but it was totally avoidable! Oh well! I didn't say anything to my sil or mil .. because what can you say

So I came here to moan instead Grin

Colds are horrible when they are so small. They'll pick up everything when they go to nursery so try not to worry too much though xxx

OP- I'd be so annoyed.

It's an absolute pet hate of mine - people showing up sick! Drives me crazy.

They should have kept their germs at home, or at least warned you so you had the option of cancelling the visit.

Jerks. Angry

SilverBirchTree · 02/08/2017 13:30

And I don't think it's a PFB thing. Spreading germs around like confetti is rude and selfish. I hate it when people come into work sick, or meet me for coffee sick etc. thoughtless jerks who kiss your cheek and then launch into an anecdote about how sick they are!
