To think I was a bit rude?

Am 15 weeks pregnant. Was tired and hormonal. Sil marched in, patted my stomach and laughed 'look at you, who ate all the pies!'
I said, 'I know!' patted hers back, laughed and said 'what's your excuse?!'
I was half joking, and half responding in annoyance at her, but I've felt awful since she left. It's not my usual style of joke, I just reacted to her comment and unwanted touch. Was I rude, or should I just forget it. I don't think she seemed too bothered.

You're my hero!!!

Oh just tell her to fuck off. My SIL never said anything without a bitchy intent. She's still the same. Set the ground rules now before its too late. 🙄

ConstanceCraving · 04/08/2017 19:58

This isn't your SIL though lovingthehoney Hmm

acquiescence · 04/08/2017 20:39

Yes you were a bit rude. I would've been the same.

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and feel fat and disgusting, that in between stage where I could pass for just fat rather than pregnant. If someone commented on it I would be very cross. DH has got angry words and tears when he has made positive comments about me getting bigger. So I don't think ywbu.

I know lovely Constance, it's an empathetic post in support of OP given my own experience of SIL bitchy comments over the years. Is that ok?

Starlighter · 04/08/2017 21:12

I think that's a brilliant response! Grin

CurlyhairedAssassin · 04/08/2017 21:23

Has it really come to this? Pregnant women getting annoyed because they are larger than normal and someone comments/jokes to that effwct? Hmm

no doubt these are the same women who are obsessive about losing their "baby weight" and being able to get into their non-maternity jeans as soon as the baby is out.

You're big because you're MEANT to be big! There is a clear reason, so any comment about being huge is actually nothing at all to do with eating too much or being too fat and shouldn't be taken as such!. would you rather they said how thin you looked looked for 6 months gone? To me that implies that your baby isn't as big as it should be and mustn't be getting the right nutrients to grow properly.

ConstanceCraving · 04/08/2017 21:48

But it wasn't showing empathy Confused just you having a bitch about your SIL Grin

MikeUniformMike · 04/08/2017 21:50
