It's a bloody parking one with brass necked CFN's!!

Well.... it's a parking one. This is driving me to the point of insanity with the arrogance and the inconsiderateness!

I live on a new build estate - so narrow street. If one person parks out the front of their house, the people opposite cant.

I am fully aware that I do not own the road. But a bit of consideration wouldnt go amiss!

CFN leave their double driveway empty. Almost CONSTANTLY. Yet park on the fucking road! Which means when my disabled mom comes or visitors - they cant park.. because cfn are in the road with their drive either empty or only one car on it.

There must be another person living there now, as a third car is there ALL.THE.TIME. Lets call him (Cheeky Fucker Neighbour Lodger) I was off work today. My car was on the drive with the trailer attached to move some things ( so my driveway was full). DP comes home and shock horror! He was able to park in front of our house! No less than 10 mins later CFNL comes back... the driveway was EMPTY and parks out the front of the house... essentially blocking the street! People with small cars are able to squeeze through... but if god forbid somebody needs emergency services, they wouldnt stand a chance!

Diagram is below. Im seething now. USE YOUR FUCKING DRIVE YOU INCONSIDERATE ARSEHOLE!

AIBU for expecting my visitors or shock horror myself to park outside my own damn house when they have a bloody driveway!! and breathe

It's a bloody parking one with brass necked CFN's!!

Have you talked to your neighbour? It's annoying but not illegal

Questioningeverything · 01/08/2017 21:33

I like your pink house

RainbowPastel · 01/08/2017 21:34

They aren't doing anything wrong. You will have problems for years by the sounds of it if the road isn't wide enough.

MyLittlePickleBoo · 01/08/2017 21:37

I'd ask if they'd mind if you could use their parking space instead seeing as they're not using it. Grin

whatsleep · 01/08/2017 21:38

If you have parked first then they park opposite after, then yes, of course they are being reduculous. However, unfortunately other people will just assume you are both idiots for blocking the road. If emergency vehicles do need to get through they will just ram your cars out of the way.

LJLsmum · 01/08/2017 21:39

They're doing something wrong if they're double parking after you or your partner has parked.
Some people have no consideration though.

iveburntthetoast · 01/08/2017 21:40

I think they are doing something wrong. They've effectively blocked the road by parking opposite you--given that your DP parked there first. But now both cars are at risk of getting scraped from people trying to get through.

DribblySquid · 01/08/2017 21:42

If they have two cars and only space for two cars on their driveway, then have taken in a lodger with a car they have probably asked the lodger to park on the street to keep the driveway free for themselves. They are parking outside their own house so it seems fine.

pineappleeyes · 01/08/2017 21:43

They're causing the obstruction by double parking

Wankers

MeanAger · 01/08/2017 21:46

It's the planners' fault really. They didn't a) plan the road to be wide enough and then b) plan for parking restrictions on the narrow road. They need double yellow lines on one or both sides.

IndianaMoleWoman · 01/08/2017 21:47

We have this on our new build estate, it's like people are trying to "protect" their drives from people parking opposite and making it difficult to get on and off the drive...by not parking on the drive at all!

FunSizedNinja · 01/08/2017 21:47

Thats exactly my point - they have deliberately parked there after dp. All the neighbours are fedup of it. I saw my ndn out walking their dog and just stared at cfnl car and shook his head! Cfn returned home not long ago, pulled in the middle of her drive, looked at cfnl car then dp car.. SMIRKED and went in the house! And yes... she does know the issues its causing.. since i have voiced its gotten worse. As if they are baiting me! We have a stewardship scheme we all have to pay into. I have sent a photograph today of how they have parked blocking the road and the drive empty. Dp cant move his car - we genuinely have nowhere to move it too! Aaahh

SMIRKED and went in the house!

Oooh I have a CFN like this too! Hateful fucker. I am in a new build but no roads yet. I am really hoping they do it in a way that means I won't have this silly shit. It's ridiculous at the minutes without the spaces laid out properly. CFNs are really taking the piss.

MeanAger · 01/08/2017 21:53

So have they blocked access to your drive by parking as they have?

FunSizedNinja · 01/08/2017 21:56

Not blocked, but i usually have to do back and forth x10000 to get out. Even my ndn who have the other half of the driveway struggle, and they only have a little car. I have worked with this woman though recently at work! She seemed so lovely. Probably why I am so angry she is behaving in a petty way.

I would go and knock their door every time they do it and say you need to get your car out.

dotdotdotmustdash · 01/08/2017 22:00

My Dps live in a street which had similar problems. Several of the neighbours must have complained to the council because a little truck came and painted a yellow line along one side of the street recently. Problem solved.

ScrambledSmegs · 01/08/2017 22:02

Park on their drive. Thanks to MN I know it's not illegal Grin

phoolani · 01/08/2017 22:05

Really, scrambled? It isn't illegal??

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/08/2017 22:07

Scrambled - You beat me to it!

I was going to suggest this but decided to finish reading the thread, thank God.

justkeepswimmingg · 01/08/2017 22:10

I have heard from my local council that if a car is causing an obstruction, which will prevent the emergency services being able to pass, then you are to report it to 101. If the gap is not big enough for a fire engine to pass, then it needs reporting. The police will ensure the car is moved, and I'm sure after a few visits they will hopefully start using their brain. Not sure how accurate it is worldwide, but in my local area that is the advise. Sounds like they want to cause upset to all their neighbours (due to the smirking), any reasoning as to why?

Maelstrop · 01/08/2017 22:12

It is illegal if she blocks the way for emergency services. Have you asked her why she won't use her drive and why she persistently acts like a twat?

MeanAger · 01/08/2017 22:13

Really, scrambled? It isn't illegal??

No it isn't! My local police force did a public "clarification" type post on their FB page last year regarding this. It isn't illegal to park in your neighbour's property. It would be illegal for said property owner to block your car in. What they have to do is go to court and get a court order to remove your car. They can't clamp it or fine you they can't even touch your car.

Comps83 · 01/08/2017 22:26

I'm having the exact same problem OP. Some of the larger lorries really struggle to get down the road and I'm sure I've seen them clip this one particular car a few times but still they park in the road. Mind if the developers had made the road wider ( we don't even have footpaths but that's a different story)

FunSizedNinja · 01/08/2017 22:27

Oh god - would it be really petty of me to call 101? After all, i cant prove dp parked there first! The police would just see that they have plenty of room on their drive to not park in the road? And no - nothing has gone on. They just randomly started leaving their cars in the road. Even their cleaner leaves ignores the driveway and parks on the road. I have reported with photos to stewardship scheme. And I was soooo bloody close to tell my mom to park on their drive the other day. I ended up leaving my car on the builders car park so my mom could get my dad and his fram out the car on my drive. Whilst they were parked out front... with empty drive. But that would cause all out and out war tbh!
