Well.... it's a parking one. This is driving me to the point of insanity with the arrogance and the inconsiderateness!

I live on a new build estate - so narrow street. If one person parks out the front of their house, the people opposite cant.

I am fully aware that I do not own the road. But a bit of consideration wouldnt go amiss!

CFN leave their double driveway empty. Almost CONSTANTLY. Yet park on the fucking road! Which means when my disabled mom comes or visitors - they cant park.. because cfn are in the road with their drive either empty or only one car on it.

There must be another person living there now, as a third car is there ALL.THE.TIME. Lets call him (Cheeky Fucker Neighbour Lodger) I was off work today. My car was on the drive with the trailer attached to move some things ( so my driveway was full). DP comes home and shock horror! He was able to park in front of our house! No less than 10 mins later CFNL comes back... the driveway was EMPTY and parks out the front of the house... essentially blocking the street! People with small cars are able to squeeze through... but if god forbid somebody needs emergency services, they wouldnt stand a chance!

Diagram is below. Im seething now. USE YOUR FUCKING DRIVE YOU INCONSIDERATE ARSEHOLE!

AIBU for expecting my visitors or shock horror myself to park outside my own damn house when they have a bloody driveway!! and breathe

We have this with bells on as some houses have three cars and some houses have two or three VANS. It is a nightmare and if an emergency vehicle needed to drive on the road, I can just hope they would charge through if necessary.

OutToGetYou · 01/08/2017 22:30

It is trespass though, so it is illegal just not a criminal offence. The home owner could sue you but is pretty unlikely they would, or they might apply for an injunction.
The police are right that the police can't do anything as trespass is (usually, but not always) a civil not criminal offence.

You say you live on a new build estate and pay into a stewardship?

Is it possible that there's some sort of restrictive covenant in your deeds that governs this type of issue?

These things are getting more and more common, and people have found that after they have bought their home they can't do things like park a commercial or business vehicle on their own drive or the street, they can't park a caravan on their own property or the street, or they can't park any vehicle outside a designated parking space.

They believe that this kind of vehicle or parking makes the estate unsightly or less desirable, and state they need to allow emergency vehicles through on narrow roads.

It might be worth checking to see if there's something that restricts the number or type of vehicles allowed, or restricts parking on the road altogether.

Fined for commercial vehicle and also for cars parking on road

GlitteryFluff · 01/08/2017 22:56

Can't you just write a note or have a chat and just ask if there's a particular reason they don't use their drive. Say obviously you all know there's a lack of parking and trying to find a way to make life easier for all neighbours and guests etc you might find there's some bizarre reason they're not using it at the mo (oil leak was a reason from a different thread)? If no reason / not good enough reason explain about your disabled parents and say you'd really appreciate that they keep the road clear if their drive is empty.
Someone better with words will be able to make that sound lovely and kind and neighbourly!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 01/08/2017 23:09

You said yourself that when CFN parks on the road it makes it hard for you to get out. Well going by the diagram, when you park out the front, it makes it equally hard for CFN to get out of their drive - so they choose to park on the road. Not saying I agree with them, I just think that's what's happening!

FunSizedNinja · 01/08/2017 23:23

Tiffany - we have never parked out front. Today is the only day dp has parked there due to drive being full. When my mom tries to visit she parks her car blocking the bottom of my drive ( on the rare occasion she can) so is not opposite cfn driveway

You have my sympathy - we appear to have had a significant 'win' with our CFN. As you say you don't own the road though, I would think the only thing that would stop it is yellow lines ?

FunSizedNinja · 01/08/2017 23:38

@AlphaBites would it be a case of just ringing the council? Sorry to sound thick! Plus how would they decide which side to paint the lines? Knowing my luck they would do my side and cfn would park there for all eternity! Im so tempted to recreate this...

OP. It is a well known fact that CFN's make of car has the tendency to burst into flames at 4am some days.

AlpacaLypse · 02/08/2017 04:07

The drive that comes out onto a narrow street by my house used to suffer badly from vehicles parked opposite. In the end the owner lobbied the council for a tiny little length of double yellow lines. It mostly works.

InvisibleLlama · 02/08/2017 14:30

(sorry to interrupt - but @SchadenfreudePersonified - do you know the link to the new CFN doors thread please - if there is one?)

AlpacaLypse · 02/08/2017 16:47

WhatIsThisWatt hasn't started a new thread. Just checked with Advanced Search. She left it as she'd start a new one if anything interesting happened and did give a prospective thread title, it's somewhere in SpanGran.

FunSizedNinja · 03/08/2017 20:12

Well.... the CFNL hasnt been seen since yesterday morning.... Not that I am sitting in my window with binoculars and cake or anything I did report to the stewardship people.. wondering how long until they reappear now. Gloves are certainly off!

OP Go to posh ish local pub or maybe restaurant with bar, or possibly Golf Club. Hang out and chatter until you get introduced to at least one member of Town Council. From there get yourself introduced to someone from County Council.

I'm sure this is the reason why no-one's built down at Councillor x***'s Dear Friend Who Is Undoubtedly Not His Wifes' end of Town.
