demirose87 you're right, it's a horrible term, usually used by people who have no idea what it's like to have to depend on benefits and how crap it makes you feel. I was on income support when I was a single mum to DS1, and couldn't work because his autism meant I couldn't leave him with anyone. I felt very judged and looked down on, despite working from the age of 16 until 27 when I had no option but to claim benefits.
I hate the general acceptance of sneering at anyone on benefits, it's nasty and unnecessary.

Why do arseholes always ...................?

Their posts are always full of ................. .......... ......

nina2b · 31/07/2017 10:34

They should learn to use the ellipsis...
(Three dots only...)

Weebo · 31/07/2017 10:38

Arseholes never just use three though.

EVER.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 31/07/2017 10:40

I like staffies

That is all

nina2b · 31/07/2017 10:40

Well said Bustergonad

Shouldnt you be getting some work done instead of defrauding your company out of wages for work youre not doing, almost like your scrounging, youre able bodied and able minded right? Or do the SS take tea breaks to polish their lightning insignia?

Notreallyarsed · 31/07/2017 10:54

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 I've got a staffy x, I'm fairly sure that makes me persona non grata on MN Grin

MrsJayy · 31/07/2017 10:56

I loved the comment about being more robust at making sure disabled people are disabled that is happpening in the uk quite robostly no need for anymore robustness on that

nina2b · 31/07/2017 11:02

Using an ellipsis suggests you are suggesting more than you appear to be suggesting - at first glance. Still, not everyone is au fait with all the marks of punctuation. Mustn't mock...

ButchyRestingFace · 31/07/2017 11:11

Can someone start a thread on what constitutes the nouveau riche?

I aspire to be a lottery winner so this would be tres helpful. Grin

Ta.

ButchyRestingFace · 31/07/2017 11:13

I loved the comment about being more robust at making sure disabled people are disabled that is happpening in the uk quite robostly no need for anymore robustness on that

I have read that 5 times and still none the wiser.

MrsJayy · 31/07/2017 11:18

I was trying to be a smart arse butchy A pp said that we should be more robust in finding out if disabled people are really to disabled to work. I was trying to work in robust into the current situation disabled people are in with benefits being cut, sorry i confused you.

I got what you meant MrsJayy, wonder if this is robust enough for them she's clearly faking Hmm

CockacidalManiac · 31/07/2017 11:23

'Robust' has lost all meaning now; it's an easy politicians' word that they like to overuse to make them sound tough and decisive.

MrsJayy · 31/07/2017 11:39

Lower working class people (if we must have a definition) are emptying your bins cleaning your dishes in reasturants sweeping the streets you know all the things that keep society ticking over but yeah lets lol at them with their staffies

SerfTerf · 31/07/2017 11:44

Don't be silly @MrsJayy

Don't you know bins empty themselves magically?

MrsJayy · 31/07/2017 11:46

Ah bin fairies 😀

HarHer · 31/07/2017 12:03

Can anyone give me a clear, precise and objective definition of 'social class'? I am sure it has little to do with etiquette and education because if these were the defining criteria, social mobility would be pretty straightforward. Is social status based on occupation or wealth? Is 'status' the same as 'class'? Does the fact that I have lived in this country for more than half a century and still have no idea what people mean by 'social class' mark me out as a member of the 'uneducated underclass'? Finally, why is it that of all the forums upon which I lurk, MN seems to be the most obsessed by this thing called 'class'?

SerfTerf · 31/07/2017 12:08

I wouldn't worry about any of it @HarHer

If you've managed for 50 years without anxiously adjusting your class-signifiers, then you're officially sane and we'll-adjusted and it's one less thing to bother with Wink
