If I was your neighbour, I would think you were being far more unreasonable for shouting that out at this time of night. Sorry. Then again, my children love and sleep through music but shouting would wake them straight up.

Could you go round and knock?

TuddlesAndSisses · 30/07/2017 22:23

Ah when you said taking the actual piss, I thought this was going to be some bizarre story about how they were stealing your sewage or something.

Just knock and explain they're disturbing your kids. Hopefully they're reasonable people.

Wishfulmakeupping · 30/07/2017 22:23

I'm debating whether to get dressed and go round

Smokingcatapillar · 30/07/2017 22:24

I totally would!
When my DD was 4 she went and knocked on the neighbours door at 9.30pm and asked them to keep it down coz she had school in the morning 😂

Wishfulmakeupping · 30/07/2017 22:24

Think karaoke starting now...it's Sunday night people go to bloody sleep!

Do it, i would. In fact i have.

carjacker1985 · 30/07/2017 22:29

I don't think that legally they're doing anything wrong until 11pm.

It could be a one off special occasion celebration- I certainly wouldn't risk starting a war with my neighbours by screaming at them out of the window, why can't you just go and knock on and ask in a normal friendly way? They're people just like you!

Wishfulmakeupping · 30/07/2017 22:34

Music now off I think even if it isn't illegal until after 11pm to play music full blast with patio doors open =dick move

OP posts:
rainbowstardrops · 30/07/2017 22:37

I'd probably loudly quietly seeth until 11 but then go round if it's still going on.
Can't stand inconsiderate people

rainbowstardrops · 30/07/2017 22:38

Ah it's gone off! Let's hope they're fairly considerate neighbours then

LRDtheFeministDragon · 30/07/2017 22:39

Oh, well, now you've told us it's naice houses, YADNBU. If it were a shit council estate, now, it'd be totes fine to blast music, but people like you shouldn't have to tolerate pleb-like behaviour.

carjacker1985 · 30/07/2017 22:42

Have you never had or attended a party at a weekend that has played loud music before? They've turned it off before it's got too late so they're obviously reasonable, and if it's a one off then it's not a dick move. People are allowed to have parties inside their own homes on occasion- just part of having neighbours I'm afraid.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 30/07/2017 22:44

What's new build estate got to do with it?

Floellabumbags · 30/07/2017 22:50

We used to have an issue with our next door neighbour and his frequent all nighters. He's single and we've got kids so nineties techno was no laughing matter at 5am. It went on for months and I was being very British about it until I snapped and declared I was going to the council and calling the police and breaking in and stealing his speakers.

In the end DH popped round, asked him to keep it down and exchanged numbers so we can call one another and say "Dial it down" if his music/our kids get annoying. He had no idea how loud he was and has been really considerate since. So I'd say be diplomatic and give them a chance.

ShellyBoobs · 30/07/2017 22:51

I can't hear mention of R.Kelly without assuming it's someone talking about a relative.

Where I'm from, R.Kelly would be your daughter or perhaps your sister.

BoneyBackJefferson · 30/07/2017 23:05

FuzzyOwl

surely the compromise would be, not being a dick and not playing music loud enough that makes someone shout at you to stop it.

BoneyBackJefferson · 30/07/2017 23:07

carjacker1985

Playing music loud enough to interfere with peoples enjoyment of their homes is a dick move.

leafprint · 31/07/2017 00:16

I feel your pain wishful

I'm awake as our selfish neighbour keeps on making so much noise after 9pm after being noisy all day. Apparently post 9pm is the best time to put bins out, and hoover the car!?! Kids still mucking about outside on clanking bikes at 10pm or later. RIGHT UNDER MY WINDOWS!! Frequent but random clanging and car door slamming.

Several neighbours walk the dog randomly after 11pm and whistle and call from one end of the street to the other (hence my being awake still now). Kids 'losing' the dog accidentally on purpose and chasing it round and round the houses at 10pm, calling and shouting to each other.

The random noise is almost worse as you fall asleep then startle awake. But then the loud music from the open bedrooms windows is annoying too (

Some people are just so selfish.

I can't wear earplugs as my DH is ill and often needs me. He can't sleep properly either. I really hope we win the lottery so we can move away from the bastards :(

Sorry for the rant. It just gets me down so much.

MyheartbelongstoG · 31/07/2017 00:25

Boobs!

Catinthecorner · 31/07/2017 00:26

On the whistling front, my parents taught their cats to come home when they whistled thinking it less disturbing then call them in. Fine until sailor neighbour came home and shot out of the house one night to see what was going on.
