Everyone is entitled to have a small gathering every now and then. If it's not on a regular basis, I wouldn't say anything - it's all part and parcel of living alongside neighbours. I'm sure you'll do something that frustrates them every now and then.
Music off at 10.30 is not really what I'd call inconsiderate.

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/07/2017 00:58

Well my first thought was that someone else had gone round first which is why it went off.

No one needs music so loud that it disturbs people like that, so why do it? Just dont have it on so loud in the first place and you are more likely to get people being understanding about having a one off party. Behave like a twat from the outset and you wont get any leeway.

HipsterHunter · 31/07/2017 06:37

So they've turned it off at 10.30? Pretty reasonable. Good job you didn't make a tit of yourself screaming out the window.

Ikillallplants · 31/07/2017 06:46

It is a new build estate. It could have been a housewarming. No one needs loud music at a party? Grin

HemmieH · 31/07/2017 07:22

My neighbour play loud music all the time but I live in a terrace so I probably deserve it Sad

Wishfulmakeupping · 31/07/2017 07:41

I put it was a new build as to point out the houses are all packed in and gardens backing onto each other- we were several houses along and was so loud for us so the families either side must have had it much worse. The house who had the party are a big family the parents bit older than me so 40's with dc and houses either side to them have young dc I really still think that on a Sunday night when people have got to get up for work the next day 10.30 to be blasting music out with all doors and windows open is bloody selfish actually

What about children screaming out in the garden during the day when people work nights?

What about people playing music at 7pm when you have to be in bed for an early shift?

ETC ET ETC

Someone is always going to be annoyed. This time it was you.

Wishfulmakeupping · 31/07/2017 08:45

I wouldn't do those things either though if the kids are noisy I tell them to keep it down lots of babies on this street so I'm mindful they sleep various times of day

It's best not to fall out with your neighbours I find. As you have to live next to them day in day out.

We 'fell out' with ours after my dh had the audacity to be born in another country. They spat on our baby, called her a half breed, bought a dog specifically to help them with their tasks. They too help a party. It's theme was Nazi death camps.

Wishfulmakeupping · 31/07/2017 09:00

Wtf savoy?! Hope you called the police that is absolutely terrible

FuzzyOwl · 31/07/2017 10:44

@BoneyBackJefferson I didn't say that it was a compromise. Loudness is subjective. I was merely pointing out that loud music would not disturb my children but a neighbour shouting out the window would do. So if I was another neighbour I would find the OP even more distributive towards my children. Consideration all round is usually what is nice with neighbours.

Northernparent68 · 31/07/2017 11:13

Op, do your children never make a noise ?

BoneyBackJefferson · 31/07/2017 11:51

FuzzyOwl

But your view is loud music fine, shouting not.

In most cases it is the loud music that sets off the shouting.

MissionItsPossible · 31/07/2017 11:56

WTAF Savoy that is disgusting behaviour. What happened?

Wishfulmakeupping · 31/07/2017 13:45

Of course they are not silent but when it's excessive noise I tell them to keep it down I try and be considerate I know how long it takes to get my two to nap it's not fair if they were being overly noisy waking people up

Not so loud that it disturbs neighbours several houses away, no.

Imaginosity · 01/08/2017 00:27

I would never play music so loud that all my neighbours could hear it in their houses - no matter the time of day or how infrequently.

SavoyCabbage · 01/08/2017 06:26

The police were absolutely useless and did pretty much nothing. Except talk about us all sitting down to talk about it. It was bloody awful for eighteen months until we ended up moving. Obviously selling took a while due to next door so it was all a bit of a vicious circle.
