Mine is the death of the Princess of Wales. I was 12 at the time- Mum came and woke me and my sister up (much to her annoyance as she had been on a night out the night before) and told us it was important we watched as it was a huge deal. I can still remember sitting there that morning watching the news coverage. The next day mum took us to London for the day and we went to put flowers outside Kensington palace.

I didn't get it at the time but I was the same age as harry and honestly can't imagine having to live through my teens, getting married and having DD without my mum by my side never mind dealing with the pressure of royal life..

The Stardust fire in Dublin was my first I remember where I was.

Plus various IRA shootings/ bombings and loyalists shootings too.

Growing up in NI in 70's and 80's wasn't normal but at the time we thought it was.

I remember the winter of discontent and the three day week and the IRA bombings. I remember Tutenkhamun's treasures being displayed in London, because I was too young to go, but my DM took DB to London and they saw them. Thatcher's election, John Lennon's death. So many things that were big and that most people have mentioned.

Yes Pope Francis Emerald. Think he is visiting Ireland in 2018.
I remember Pope John Paul visiting London in 1982. A family in our road went to see him. I remember seeing people on the news running to get to see him.

9/11...
I was 12. I remember having a week-long tv ban which my mum broke. It was such a big deal.
