They are very expensive; but I love cooking and would use it all the time! Does anyone else have one? Was it worth its cost? X

I bought one in 1997. My daughter still uses it weekly. They're bomb proof and well worth the outlay so I say yes op

helterskelter99 · 27/07/2017 11:01

I think so mine is over 10 years old and looks as good as new

I bought a Linea one from House of Fraser. Was far cheaper than Le Creuset to begin with and it was in a sale. Ridiculous. I can use it on the hob or in the oven and put it straight to table. Six years and still looks brand new.

damekindness · 27/07/2017 11:05

I've got one that belonged to MIL that is 30 plus years old and still going strong. No matter how badly I treat the thing it scrubs up beautifully every time. DD has her eye on it as an inheritance.....(as well as the one I bought myself a couple of years ago) Totally worth it

PinkHeart5911 · 27/07/2017 11:05

Yes!

I brought mine about 10 years ago and it's a good as new despite being used often

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/07/2017 11:05

Yes. Buy it.

Bluntness100 · 27/07/2017 11:06

I bought the whole set a few years ago, pots, casserole dish, oven dishes. I use the oven dishes a lot, but I've got to be honest they are really heavy and I seldom use the pots, due to that. The casserole dish yes but I don't make that many casseroles, but it's fine. It is the pots I struggle with.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 27/07/2017 11:06

The Sainsbury's own ones are brilliant, almost identical and a fraction of the price. I've had it for years and everyone I know who has one loves theirs.

YoureNotASausage · 27/07/2017 11:07

Yes, they're worth it but if you're getting oldish, be aware that they are very very heavy and people tend to struggle to use them as they get older. My mum has had to start using others as her hands don't have the strength.

DramaAlpaca · 27/07/2017 11:09

I have two that I've had for years and are still going strong. I bought them both in the sale as they are so expensive, but even at full price you'll get your money's worth as they last forever.

Loveache · 27/07/2017 11:09

My mum got one for a wedding present, which came with me when I moved out for university. It must be 35 years old now and used literally thousands of times. Apart from a tiny chip on the lid when I dropped it in a manner that would have smashed anything else, it's still in perfect condition. Expensive but so worth it imo.

A1Sharon · 27/07/2017 11:10

I have one that was on my wedding list, married 14 years next month and still going strong.

Bumdishcloths · 27/07/2017 11:10

I bought mine in a sale at Debenhams and wouldn't be without it, have had it about 8 years now. I'd definitely try and buy in a sale!

BenLui · 27/07/2017 11:11

They are awesome but very heavy.

Mine are about 20 years old and used 4-5 times a week.

Bobbins43 · 27/07/2017 11:20

I have also heard good things about the Sainsburys ones

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 27/07/2017 11:20

I'm one of the few people I know who managed to break a Le Creuset oven dish. So if you get one, DO NOT it into a sink of cold water directly from the hot oven. I could have cried at my own stupidity!

But also check out the Homewares section of TK Maxx as they often have Le Creuset end-of line-products for great prices, just depends if you're choosy about the colour.

puddingpen · 27/07/2017 11:24

My mum has these. They are lovely and she uses them all the time but they are very heavy - especially once they are full! I have lovely (also pricey) enameled pans which I find similar but much lighter.

AVY1 · 27/07/2017 11:25

I love mine - and all the saucepans. But they're from the 60s (were my great grandmothers) Would probably still shell out for a casserole dish though not the pans etc. I have some cheaper, more modern versions and the coating has cracked and rusted on the bottom. The Le Creseut still look brand new!

MargaretTwatyer · 27/07/2017 11:26

My Mum has one she got as a wedding present in 1969 still going strong despite heavy use.

CleanHonestGoals · 27/07/2017 11:28

I've got a le Creuset and a Sainburys one..cant say I notice a difference.
Deffo check out Tkmaxx as mentioned up thread as we get them in all the time and you can often find them in the clearance bit too

lanouvelleheloise · 27/07/2017 11:29

They're OK, but I can't get excited about mine tbh. It's a pot. There are more interesting things in life.

MumsOnCrack · 27/07/2017 11:30

I got mine from a charity shop for a tenner

LaurieMarlow · 27/07/2017 11:30

I wouldn't bother. They are expensive mother fuckers.

I got a copy cat brand one and it's fabulous. Can't remember the brand name now, looks very similar to LC. Works on the hob/oven, it's bombproof, still looks great.

ClemHFandango · 27/07/2017 11:32

I second (third?) the Sainsbury's own one. Got one in the sale for something like £20 and it's absolutely brilliant.
