Monarch has no record of flight booking

Hintreppit · 21/07/2017 12:29

Going on holiday just after midnight tonight. I found our flights through last minute.com and then booked directly with the airline (Monarch). I have paid for the flights about two months ago, and went to check in online this morning using the confirmation code and my email address and all I get is a message saying nothing can be found. I logged into my account on last minute.com and the flights are listed there as confirmed, and I have checked and double checked the details but to no avail. I tried to call Monarch and can't get through and I've emailed them but not sure how quickly they will get round to replying. Neither of us are on Twitter. Can I still turn up at the airport? I have the email confirmation but only from last minute nothing from the airline!

It's not dodgy it is fine. Loads of people will be in the same position as OP (in my experience) so as long as she isn't late to check in there won't be a problem.

Oblomov17 · 21/07/2017 13:20

Nightmare. I booked with 'on the beach'. Based on your post, I'm checking airlines now. All appears ok. Thanks for prompt.

Hope yours gets sorted.

Hintreppit · 21/07/2017 13:31

Figiuer

Thanks that's reassuring! I can't get through on the phone and I'm now at work.

I think a good chance thar if you have booked via last minute the reference number doesn't let you check in online, but that doesn't mean you're not booked. You need to get on the phone to last minute.com.
Also if you call Monarch they should be able
To tell you if you're on the flight or not.

Hintreppit · 21/07/2017 13:33

I know the last minute reference number won't let me check in online but they sent me a separate code for monarch online check in that isn't working.

EatSleepRunRepeat · 21/07/2017 13:37

You can't check in online with Monarch if you have booked through a 3rd party (which is what you've done).

Relax. Just go to the airport, take you confirmation/reference from lastminute, and enjoy your holiday.

Frazzled2207 · 21/07/2017 13:37

Well in that case you def need to speak to them
Asap.
Similar happened to me once it caused hell at the airport but we did eventually get on the plane

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 21/07/2017 13:44

Figuier and EatSleepRun are correct.
It will say the same thing, using different words, somewhere on the Monarch website.

hapsburg · 21/07/2017 13:56

We came back from Croatia last week with Monarch - booked through Last Minute. You can only do online check in with Monarch if you booked directly with them. However, because Last Minute booked the flights with Monarch this means they (Last Minute) can do the online check in. You need to ring Last Minute again and ask them to do on line check in for you - then they will email you the boarding passes. Or alternativiely just turn up at the airport early enough to do the check in there. I promise it is fine, we have just done it.

Hintreppit · 21/07/2017 14:02

Hapsburg. That is so reassuring! Did you also get a code to do online checking even though you couldn't do it yourself?

OP posts:
hapsburg · 21/07/2017 14:10

Yes I think I did - I will check my email from them. Yep - on the confirmation from Last Minute there is a PNR code and it says use this for check in. It looks execlty like the BA one that I was able to do myself. Forunately before I panicked I remembered that the Last Minute guy that I booked with told me to ring them if I wanted them to do online check in for me as I would not be able to do myself. It is a pain being on hold waiting, but they did it for me, emailed the boarding passes and I got hotel reception to print them - although you can just scan them from your phone at the airport. I still like to have a bit of paper! If you are not bothered about doing online check in just turn up ealry enough at airport to do it there.
Have a great holiday!

hapsburg · 21/07/2017 14:11

Sorry about dodgy spelling - supposed to be working so typing too fast!

cjt110 · 21/07/2017 14:18

RING THEM!!!!! Goodness me. Stop fannying around and ring lastminute, who you made the booking with.

Hintreppit · 21/07/2017 18:36

cjt110

Did you miss the bits where I said I had tried to ring them multiple times but had to hang up as I couldn't get through to anyone and gas to go to work? I've been on hold for about two hours in total listening to a recorded message saying they are unlikely to be able to answer the phone.

Thank you Hapsburg that's great!

www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g1-i10702-k8335666-WARNING_Monarch_Airline_check_in-Air_Travel.html

Looks like booking through a 3rd party (lastminute) means no online check in with Monach

opinionatedfreak · 21/07/2017 19:21

I booked flights thru' lastminute.com lat year.

It was a farce - told I had hold baggage, friend who flies with that airline a lot mentioned that "hold baggage" was actually on 10kg. Booked flight was an internal flight on a massive big two continent holiday and I was expecting to have much more than 10kg with me.

Clarified with LM.com. Hold baggage was only 10kg (not flagged on their site at all - I had taken screen shots).

They were then crap at trying to buy the extra baggage I needed but I couldn't do it either. Eventually a colleague who spoke the same language as the airline helped me as their english language website was crap.

Complained to lm.com who promised me compensation but then forgot to pay it to me!!

I will never book with them again.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 21/07/2017 19:41

Not sure where you're up to now OP, but note the final line of this page from Monarch's website.
I didn't have time to search for this when I posted earlier :

Enjoy your holiday!

Frazzled2207 · 21/07/2017 20:15

I think you'll be ok. Have a great trip but we'd love to hear that you've checked in at the
Airport and all is well.

blueskyinmarch · 21/07/2017 20:19

I hope you managed to get this sorted out and have a fab holiday.

Hintreppit · 21/07/2017 21:14

Thank you everyone for all your help and advice I have been in touch with LM on Twitter and they have said I can check in at the airport and it's all fine- would have been nice to have heard about that at the time of booking but as long as we can get on the plane then I'm happy!

OP posts:
MargaretTwatyer · 21/07/2017 21:41

So glad you're sorted!

Elfieselfie · 21/07/2017 23:12

Thanks for the update - have been worrying about similar as booked Monarch flights through a third party and couldn't get through to anyone to discuss.

Enjoy your holiday.

Hintreppit · 22/07/2017 07:16

Check in was all fine just showed passports and that was it so no need to worry Smile
