Is it just me or do others write lists they update each day? I always have loads of tasks on my list. Lots of things get done but there's alway more things to add.

Feel a bit obsessive and that others don't spend so much time cultivating their lists Blush

AIBU to be a list writer?

I'm a Libran and I love lists! I have several on the go everyday (work, home, longer term plans etc.). Lists make me feel sane, ordered and in control of my life.

I also love a good pros & cons list when trying to make a big decision. And on the odd occassion when anxiety overtakes me, a basic list such as take a shower, get dressed, put out the garbage etc, is enough to get me out the door sometimes rather than become frozen and unable to function.

My family also take the piss out of my life long list making obsession!

I'm a Virgo.....

I'm much better at making lists than actually accomplishing tasks, sadly. Still, at least I'm hyper aware of all the things I haven't done Hmm

babsjonhson · 21/07/2017 14:57

Yes.

Even if I was to write a list then burn it i would get more stuff done on it than if I'd never wrote it.

Its as if writing the list down makes the tasks stick in my brain.

I am just about to start doing this, I am hoping it will help me control my lists!

YEP! On a wipe clean white board and a diary on my PC. Blush

allegretto · 23/07/2017 12:11

Yes! I do mine on workflowy on my phone. One day I will get everything crossed off and have no idea what to do with my life

wetpebbles · 23/07/2017 12:12

I also put lists on notes on my phone but yet to use emojis, will get in the case straight away (Gemini)

I think I need to become more of a list person. I'll write a list of important things like 'renew car insurance' but not less important things like 'vacuum.' But then the vacuuming doesn't get done. Writing it down might make me feel more committed if that makes sense.

Do you list writers generally put stuff like housework on the list too?

YetAnotherNC2017 · 23/07/2017 12:26

Libra, but I have various lists on my phone.

Growuphelen · 23/07/2017 12:32

Yes yes yes !
Cannot function without my notebook. Sunday night I look at the week ahead on the calendar and transfer it into my notebook then my to do list gets looked at every night and crossed off/added to.
On particularly busy weeks I have it open on a double page with the things to do on one page and the days on the other then put the things to do over onto the days I'll do them.
I've tried phone apps etc but notebooks and pens work best for me.

wonkylegs · 23/07/2017 13:01

I have a list that never seems to get shorter despite doing loads of stuff
I have always used lists for work & home, the act of writing something down helps me remember it so even if I don't look at the list again, making the list helps.

I'm a Taurean and lists are my life. I now just have one list, just a continuous life list. I splashed out on a beautiful leather bound lined notebook (thanks TK Max) and it has my life in it. If it's not written down then you can consider it not done, not thought about and completely forgotten x

TenMinutesLate · 23/07/2017 13:48

I cannot work with an electronic list. That fries my brain. I need highlighters!!

SaintEyning · 23/07/2017 20:07

(Gemini) and yes to housework lists or even this weekend, daily lists as I was so busy flipping back and forth between activities and had so much to do - e.g. Drop to party, load car, go to tip, go to Halfords (list of things to buy), pick up kids, go to BQ (list of things), put up shelves and pictures, cook for kids and friends (menu plan), two loads laundry (that was first thing and after lunch) and today similar as we had another party. I've just done my assignments into my diary as I'm back studying this year, as well as put a pinboard by my desk where our reading list and assignment list are now fastened.... my life is governed by lists!
