to wonder if anyone else has a constant written list of tasks to do

Is it just me or do others write lists they update each day? I always have loads of tasks on my list. Lots of things get done but there's alway more things to add.

Feel a bit obsessive and that others don't spend so much time cultivating their lists Blush

AIBU to be a list writer?

I love lists and have a very detailed planner I use every day to keep me right.

Tilapia · 20/07/2017 23:39

Me! Love a list. I always have at least three or four on the go (today's list, longer term list, and ditto at work).

pynk · 20/07/2017 23:41

I think this is normal.

I use Siri with notes and reminders. I also use location based reminders.

Other people might be able to remember things in their head but I can't. I'd be scuppered without my iPhone and it's to-do list

doleritedinosaur · 20/07/2017 23:48

I'm a Virgo & write lists too.

Phone/diary/planner & kitchen memo board.

I do a list for the month, broken down by week & sometimes daily.

DancingLedge · 20/07/2017 23:59

Yes, Virgo too. Never been into that, but you seem to be onto something.
Any non Virgo list makers?
Or are we all merely obeying our predestined characteristics?

PenelopeFlintstone · 21/07/2017 00:03

I love lists but I'm a Libran.

MumsOnCrack · 21/07/2017 00:06

Always...colour coded and with timelines. And I'm on Mat leave lol

steff13 · 21/07/2017 00:06

I put my lists in my day planner. Every Sunday night I go over my list and add the tasks I need to do in the coming week.

MumsOnCrack · 21/07/2017 00:07

I use an app called Todoist

GavelRavel · 21/07/2017 00:09

I'm also Libran

pynk · 21/07/2017 00:11

Does anyone really still believe in astrology 🤔

Aquarian.

I have lists of my lists and they have to be written down on paper not electronically.

I find list writing soothing. Like I'm in control of what needs doing, even though it reads like a list for an army rather a single person 😖

PenelopeFlintstone · 21/07/2017 00:37

Annie - I also like them on paper, although I might go and buy a cute little notebook today to keep my lists together even though I already did this at the start of the year and it's fallen by the wayside

SonicBoomBoom · 21/07/2017 11:12

I put a line through completed tasks with a ruler

vikingprincess81 · 21/07/2017 11:19

Yep, yep yep yep yep, yes indeedy.
It's the right way to live, no?? Wink
I do the bullet journal thing - not the fancy Instagram ones because I'd fuck up a stick man, as I think I've said before!! just a bog standard task list that gets migrated (moved to the next day!) if needed.
Just enjoy knowing you're organised and can sleep at night or is that just me? because all the shit is out of your head Grin

vikingprincess81 · 21/07/2017 11:21

Not sure why it's relevant, but I'm an Aries I think am I an anomaly to my sign? wouldn't surprise me tbh!

vikingprincess81 · 21/07/2017 11:23

Ooh, DH is a Virgo I think and he's the most disorganised, hates lists, would lose his head if it wasn't screwed on or if wasn't there to find it after he'd looked person is he an anomaly too? Grin

PenguindreamsofDraco · 21/07/2017 11:25

My family still take the piss out of my list for preps for Christmas lunch well over a decade ago which had as item 1 'Make list'.

My star sign of course has nothing to do with this.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 21/07/2017 11:31

I love lists! I have a book for my work list - double page spread per list, one side for my tasks, the other for my staff.
For home I usually use Google keep (often list is shared with dh) but I also like using a whiteboard in the kitchen.

I definitely feel more productive with a list. When I'm not at work (currently on mat leave) I use the "home" lists far more.

I also add tasks after I've done them just to tick them off Blush

TeenAndTween · 21/07/2017 11:46

Mathematician non-Virgo astrology sceptic. Smile
About 1/12 of the list makers will be Virgo, but a higher proportion of Virgos than others will respond to the question - confirmation bias - or something.

I don't understand how people manage without lists, they must waste so much energy trying to remember stuff, or just not get things done.

ClarkeyCat · 21/07/2017 12:04

I'm a list maker (and also Virgo). DP roll his eyes a bit but like a previous poster said, I just can't "see" the whole picture of what I have to do unless it's written down. Without lists the jobs just float around in my head and it's stressful.

SpottedGingham · 21/07/2017 12:22

I'm often tempted to write a list of things I've done so it's all done ✅ 😂

Treesinbloom · 21/07/2017 13:39

I love lists. DH teases me but also says he really appreciates it.

I have a to-do list at work - just a piece of A4 paper folded in two but it's always in front of me so I don't forget anything.

I started a bullet journal but didn't get on very well with it. To properly use it I'd have to carry it around everywhere and already my handbag is full.

I start lists of what we need to take on holiday months weeks before the holiday on the computer at work. Which I then print off when I need to pack.

I make lists (again at work oops) of what I'm planning on buying various people for Christmas, changing the colour once it's been bought.

I'm currently constructing a list of all the people/companies my next of kin would have to contact in case me and DH die together (depressing I know) because we live abroad and my family wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Whenever I get overwhelmed with something, I start a list. Much easier!

Mammylamb · 21/07/2017 14:25

Me me me! At home we have a whiteboard with a list of chores to be done! Both dh and I complete the tasks and wipe them off! Only thing is that for every one that I wipe off, another one needs added!
