To think this is not an acceptable attitude from Boots?

So apparently they won't lower the price of emergency contraception (Tesco and Superdrug have done so) because they get complaints from people who are opposed to it and because lowering the price might make women 'use it inappropriately.

Of course businesses are allowed to make their own policy choices, but this is blatant misogyny. So they won't be getting any more of my money.

(Long time lurker, sporadic poster, recent name change)

I know it's been a week but I still can't quite get my head around this. Yes, they've always been that bit more expensive than the other chains but this is medication ffs. I've been loyal to them for so long that my advantage card is one of the originals launched in nineteenninetywhatever. I'll be taking the scissors to it tomorrow, right after I've redeemed all my points.

I actually felt like complaining to Boots. My 21 yo DD had a condom split during her fertile time and when she asked for advice and told the pharmacist how old she was she actually laughed at her. At this point my DD felt really uncomfortable and had to pay £30 odd quid in the process which is a lot of money for a student. This was the only plce she could go at the weekend so didn't have much choice as she didn't want to wait any longer for it.

I bet the complaints come from 'The if you can't feed them, don't breed brigade.
They can't have both ways

Could you explain this, please? What do you ,mean she laughed at her? Why would a pharmacist laugh because somebody told her they were 21? Hmm

I agree with it, I don't find in this day and age where contraception is free for males and females!

Things can still happen though, failures can occur.

If a private business wants to make an ethical decision on not to sell something, or to sell it under stricter conditions, then as long as no laws are broken that is up to them I suppose.

Still an odd rationale though, and not something you would expect a non-religiously owned or affiliated business to come out with in 2017.

I'll take it that was tongue in cheek, Skank

Anybody heard whether Boots Pharmacy has rolled out their reduced price Emergency Contraceptives to all of their 2500 stores as yet, as they promised to?
