One chin hair

Having being inspired by all the answers to the nasal hair thread (I don't suffer from those) I'd be so happy if you can give me advice.

I have one solitary hair growing out of my chin. I pluck the other bastard ones that appear at the side of my mouth so I know how coarse they can grow back in at.

How would you deal with this one?

They multiply on chins at the same time as your reading sight goes!mine are mostly white now, which does not make them less visible.Moustache hairs stay stubbornly dark.Did save some once in an emergency (going to work after week off and hadn't noticed) but then you get stubble and the all grow back at once.

MaidOfStars · 19/07/2017 11:34

Plucking hair from a follicle doesn't make more grow in that place.

PolarBearGoingSomewhere · 19/07/2017 11:38

I have one that isn't there at all and then is suddenly like 3 inches long. Weird. I wrap it round a cocktail stick and pull it out Grin

Jungle it is a bit creepy to have matching belly button hairs on purpose, but I think it's kind of endearing Smile

letsplayfindthesmell · 19/07/2017 11:45

Laser all the way. I used to have a coarse hair growing out of my cheek and one out of my chin. As soon as they came through I could feel them they were so spiky and couldn't stop touching them until I got to a pair of tweezers! When they were lasered there was such a loud crack from the hair being destroyed, it was great. They haven't come back! I've had loads of areas done and it can get expensive but if I could only get one place done it would be face (beard, moustache). My life is so much easier without that up keep.

Seriously electrolysis is absolutely designed for this because it is so effective.

If you only have one or two hairs, you may only need one or two visits because the hair follicle is killed.

The reason people have to keep going is if they are having more done (eg. upper lip), there are so many hairs that at any given time only some are in their growing cycle - so it takes ages to kill them all.

For a single wirey chin hair or two - electrolysis is just the ticket.

It's life changing stuff.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 19/07/2017 12:23

Mine started like this, DH called it a cod hair!! (Apparently codfish have a line hair like thing from their chin!!!)

Justhadmyhaircut · 19/07/2017 12:26

Could you glue some beads onto it? Like a dreadlock sort of beard thing?

Nettletheelf · 19/07/2017 12:26

Just puck the bugger. That's what I do. I have five, in various places on my chin and jawline. I think I've acquired a new one every year since I turned 40. I'll have a full beard soon.

Yes to the very long, very fine hair growing out of your face as well. Just the one. I've always had it. Drives me mad. There's always one follicle that has to show off, isn't there?

Nettletheelf · 19/07/2017 12:27

Sorry, PLUCK the bugger. Not puck it. Typo could have been worse though.

MatildaTheCat · 19/07/2017 12:35

I had electrolysis last year for a small patch of chin hairs and it was pretty successful BUT I still get the odd few bastard ones made of some stronger than titanium type material. I pluck them and refuse to ever look into a magnifying mirror.

With electrolysis it's all about zapping at the correct point in the growth cycle so I suppose plucking may be the same. Until female hormones are tamed I fear we must continue to suffer. Grin

dementedma · 19/07/2017 12:54

jealous of those of you with just one. I have several of the spiky bastards, including some white ones!
I get them waxed and pluck in between waxings.

Sometimes I leave them so I can stroke them thoughtfully and look learned while I muse

ChuffMuffin · 19/07/2017 13:04

You guys have convinced me that I need to start having electrolysis again on my chin, I did a few and stopped because I moved away from the lady who was doing it for me. Damn it Grin.

tenpoletudor · 19/07/2017 13:05

I now have lots Blush
I am mid-40's but my Dad was from the Med area so I guess it is that?

Mine are dark but there are some ginger ones (random)
If I shave them they are back about 8 hrs later Angry

Would laser work on a mix of ginger/dark/clear/white that are now really bristly???

Hidingtonothing · 19/07/2017 13:12

No chin hairs (yet) but one which sprouts on my top lip, just below my right nostril. It's a stealth-grower, seems to appear overnight fully formed and I take such pleasure in plucking it I actually look forward to its arrival.

Neolara · 19/07/2017 13:24

I hate to break it to you, but things may get a lot worse once you hit 40........

morningconstitutional2017 · 19/07/2017 13:42

Tweezers are the only answer I'm afraid. I pluck out the ones which are dark or feel like barbed wire, the rest I leave as they're almost invisible.

When I had to have chemo I had no hair at all (wispy head hair) but it didn't take long for the unwanted chin hair to come back.

But (so far) a permanent plus - smooth legs, arms and armpits.

Skooblies1 · 19/07/2017 13:43

Only one?? Pfft....

user1498911470 · 19/07/2017 14:42

I get them too, a stray inch long chin hair and one in my eye brows but they are always bright ginger. As I have black hair they look really obvious Angry

justilou · 19/07/2017 14:48

Just so you know, I keep tweezers in the car as I find the lighting is better than my bathroom. I'm very blonde and my bastard hairs are almost invisible, BUT they feel like fibreglass!!!

rainbowduck · 19/07/2017 14:49

Genuine question: Can you use electrolysis on your spiders legs?

I also have one hair on my chinny, chin chin.

I pluck it. So satisfying!

BloodWorries · 19/07/2017 15:33

I wish I just had the one. Got my first in my late teens, maybe early 20s. Not 30 yet and feel like I'm competing against my DP with amount of facial hair. He's a good guy and has never comments. I hate them and am planning on saving up for electrolysis or laser or something to kill the buggers off.
But I know I'm a hairy person. There's no competition between DP and I for happy trails (if I don't do anything with mine). Bloody hate that too, and once I've got enough pennies it will be getting zapped too.

MrsBakedBean · 19/07/2017 15:38

So is the Nair stuff not good for your skin? I'm in my 40s and it is only one that I have. It is fine and wavy (but not in a good way). Electrolysis sounds another possibility but I thought it couldn't be guaranteed?

MistressDeeCee · 19/07/2017 15:58

Placemarking to hear more about electrolysis. I have loads of chin hair. Tried facial threading for the 1st time 2 weeks ago and still haven't recovered from the trauma I can hardly bear to think about it

misit · 19/07/2017 16:04

I use a 10 x magnifying mirror daily to track the buggers.

So how come this morning I realised I've got an inch long black eyelash growing under my chin.

How did it get there? Why did it get there?

BMW6 · 19/07/2017 16:13

Either I'm lucky or, much more likely, odd - but my single eyelash-type chin hair hasn't grown back for over a year now.....

I reckon I plucked that fucker at least 20 times since it first burst onto the scene maybe 20 years ago.

Maybe it's the same as my eyebrows - my elder sister plucked them when I was about 15 and they never really grew back. Great you may think, but the fashion in the early 70's was for barely there thin arches, so that's what I've been stuck with for over 40 years.......
