Not sure if I'm bu or not.

We live in an attached house and our neighbours are doing a huge extension. Our problem is that my dh doesn't get home from work until gone midnight and he is struggling with the morning noise. Even earplugs cannot block the noise out!

I'm not sure if different local authorities have different restrictions on noise but where I am it's 8am.

AgainstTheOddsNo2 · 18/07/2017 08:06

8 am but the tossers round here pay no heed to that!

crumpet · 18/07/2017 08:08

Standard seems to be 8 until about 4 pm.

Sirzy · 18/07/2017 08:08

I would say 8am

WreckTangled · 18/07/2017 08:10

My Dh usually starts work at 8. They will work until 5/6 mon-sat.

Sirzy · 18/07/2017 08:10

Finishing by 4? That seems rather early!

Derekmorganwasinmybed · 18/07/2017 08:12

My dh works from 7.30-5pm

luckylucky24 · 18/07/2017 08:14

8am

11112222 · 18/07/2017 08:17

ok, so 7:50 is not much to complain about then.

They can def stop blocking our driveway though!!

The 8 am thinking is national environmental health regs. Why on earth are builders hired to start at 7 30 is it purposely to piss neighbours off? I mean if contracted to start at 7.30 they will get there generally before and have a chat (at the top of their voices) may as well start even earlier and just generally be unreasonably annoying.

EssentialHummus · 18/07/2017 08:22

We're having work done at the moment. Have asked builders to keep it to 08.30 - 5.30, and asked that if possible quieter stuff (painting etc) gets done between 08.30 and 9am.

WaitrosePigeon · 18/07/2017 08:22

It's 8am. They should not be making tons of noise though! Can you mention it to your neighbours?

londonrach · 18/07/2017 08:22

Parking thread to come cant wait!!! 8am op but kinda ok ish from 7.30am

londonrach · 18/07/2017 08:23

Our bins get emptied at 7am and thats noisy!!!!!

caffeinestream · 18/07/2017 08:29

DP is a builder/plasterer and they start at 8am.

bigbluebus · 18/07/2017 08:31

When they were building houses next to us they were allowed to start at 07.00 during the week and had to be off site by 18.00. That didn't seem to stop delivery lorries turning up at 6.20am and reversing (with bleepers going) under our bedroom window Angry. Those were the hours permitted under their Planning permission.

worridmum · 18/07/2017 08:31

Bins here get emptied at 6am every monday count your lucky stars :(

11112222 · 18/07/2017 08:34

Thanks everyone. I just wanted opinions before I speak with them. Sadly my other neighbours are about to start work too. It's going to be a nightmare summer this year. :(

user1495025590 · 18/07/2017 08:38

8 o clock seems pretty standard.

Fluffyears · 18/07/2017 08:48

I always thought 8 but I live in a ne builfabdbrge sute opens at 7.

Fluffyears · 18/07/2017 08:49

Well that was great 'I live in a new build estate and site opens at 7'

thequeenofsandwich · 18/07/2017 08:50

Next door is having a new roof. The roofers arrived yesterday at 7am and worked through until 7:30pm. The scaffolding overhangs my property and at the front is actually on my garden. They knocked on my door to recommend that as the new roof wouldn't match mine they could carry on and do mine too - thanks but we don't have ££££ spare to replace our perfectly adequate roof . 8:50 ... I think they're having a lie in today

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/07/2017 08:55

7.30 is the time the developers on our site are apparently supposed to start. They do start before then though.
