to return my jacket and buy it cheaper?!

I don't think I can now though :( Bought a fab denim jacket in Next for £40 just about a week before the sale began and now it's down to £16!! I love it and was prepared to pay full price tbh - but I barely wore it twice before it went down to below half price. Tag is clipped but I still have it.

Is there any way I can return/exchange the jacket or do I just suck it up, forget about the price and get on with loving my not at all bargainous jacket??

See if it still in stock and buy it. I would, you will love it even more if it is cheaper.

BewareTheUndertoad · 17/07/2017 17:15

BTW not sure how the tags are attached but it might be possible to slip it back on?

WarwickDavisAsPlates · 17/07/2017 17:17

If you've taken the tag off and have worn it you shouldn't be able to return it, there would usually have to be something faulty with the product for you to return it after use.

Cakescakescakes · 17/07/2017 17:18

If you still have the plastic tags bit then I have superglued that back together pretty seamlessly m to return something unworn but with the labels cut off before....

Cakescakescakes · 17/07/2017 17:18

Ah just notice you wore it. Then no you obviously can't return it! Just wear it and enjoy it!

Monsterpage · 17/07/2017 17:19

Buy it again and return the unworn one using the receipt you paid for the full price one.

Brittbugs80 · 17/07/2017 17:19

Would they refund the price you paid or the value as to what it's on sale for?

JeffStellingsLeftEyebrow · 17/07/2017 17:19

How long ago did you buy? Lots of stores will refund the difference if reduced within 28 days. (Not sure if Next is one but worth asking them.)

WarwickDavisAsPlates · 17/07/2017 17:20

Beware the tags on clothes are attached with a special gun/stapler type thing.

You might be able to melt the plastic thing with a lighter and fuse it back together.

Personally I'd just accept that something is bought for full price went in the sale, these things happen. You say yourself you were happy to pay the full price so I don't understand what the problem is really?

SangriaInTheSun · 17/07/2017 17:20

Buy it again at £16 then return it using the original receipt for £40. No need to worry about tags then.

This will only work if a) you have your original receipt and b) they still have it in your size.

ArchieStar · 17/07/2017 17:21

I think their policy is if something is returned you only get the amount it's on sale for, to stop things like this happening. I could be wrong though!

WarwickDavisAsPlates · 17/07/2017 17:22

Monster when I used to work at next they put a small mark on the label of clothes that went into the sale.

It was so they could check when people wanted to return things as they did have people try to scam full price refunds.

They might not do this anymore though.

Avocado0nToast · 17/07/2017 17:26

Returning the sale one for full price receipt probably won't work - they usually mark the label. Also, I'm pretty sure in next the labels are unique to the item so they will know it is the sale one you are returning. Might be worth a try though, if you can handle the embarrassment if you get caught out!

Shinesun09 · 17/07/2017 17:27

I would be careful buying a new one and trying to return the old one with new receipt at next as they have a separate special barcode inside (I think it's meant to flag up if the item was stolen) but not sure if there are any indicators of this on the system/receipt

ALemonyPea · 17/07/2017 17:29

You'd not be able to return the sale one as the label will be marked as a sale item.

Don't think you can return it if you've worn it.

araiwa · 17/07/2017 17:30

Yeah, go commit fraud for the sake of £20.

Bearbehind · 17/07/2017 17:31

If you can order it on line then the items aren't marked as sale and you could return the unworn, new jacket using the old receipt.

NapQueen · 17/07/2017 17:32

You would need to return the origional jacket with its receipt.

yellowDahlia · 17/07/2017 17:32

warwick is right, I think next put a mark on the labels of clothes in the sale.

If you've got a receipt and it's within28 days you can get full price on something that's now reduced.

I will check about the policy re refunding the difference but the website shows it's been full price since December or something so I think they'd argue that it's a legitimate discount.

I was hoping I could buy a £16 one and return it (unworn obviously) with the £40 receipt but I think it would show up on the till and receipt that it's supposed to be reduced?! I'm not trying to be fraudulent or immoral or anything but I wouldn't mind getting a few quid back from a huge retail chain if it's legitimately possible..

You've worn it. Straight up no.

bridgetreilly · 17/07/2017 17:39

You've worn it! Why should someone else have to buy your used clothes in the sale instead of the new one you'd be going home with?

elQuintoConyo · 17/07/2017 17:42

But... You have worn it! What a shitty attitude

Suck it up, buttercup!

outrightingrate · 17/07/2017 17:45

There was a time when some retailers would give you the sale price (ie refund the difference) if you could prove that you had bought the item shortly before the sale. They sometimes call it a price protection policy. Idk if they still do that but no harm sending them an email asking.

ihearttc · 17/07/2017 17:54

That won't work with Next stuff anyway as the code on the item actually tells them how/when you purchased it.
