I wet the bed

There, I said it.

I had a dream about being sat on the toilet and woke up covered in my own piss. Mortified. AIBU to be concerned that something underlying caused this or was it just an unfortunate one off?? Anyone else done it?!

Yeah, the dreams of trying to find a working toilet that isn't a communal shower with people watching - eek!

When I do drag myself to the loo, I'm still almost asleep so that I have to pinch myself so that my body recognizes that am actually awake and it is safe to let go....

I have had the toilet dream once and woke up needing arm bands. I had a UTI. I felt mortified.

ozymandiusking · 17/07/2017 23:06

I have had the loo dreams as well, dirty overflowing, lots of them around but locked. But fairly recently We were staying with friends, and I woke up, but hadn't a clue where the bathroom was, I just couldn't remember.
I was on the verge of waking my husband to remind me, and then remembered. Whether I am still asleep or half asleep I'm not sure but I have had it since at home and I don't understand that.

You do realize this thread is making it more likely someone has the dream tonight by planting the idea in their subconscious...

flumplet · 17/07/2017 23:26

I've done this too - I had a dream I was in the dessert and was desperate to pee and hid behind a cactus to relieve myself and woke up in a giant puddle. That was about 25 years ago and I still remember it vividly!

Hidingtonothing · 17/07/2017 23:31

It could always be worse OP, I watched Trainspotting for the first time in years last night and had completely forgotten about Spud waking up in a mess at his gf's parents house Envy

I haven't had 'the dream' for years but remember it well, hope I'm not the subject of Flop's prediction tonight Grin

Luckily whenever I have the toilet dream for some reason I'm always in a public place and can never find a toilet clean enough, bizarre.

WinnieTheWitch50 · 18/07/2017 00:33

I have exactly the same indigox

AuntMatilda · 18/07/2017 01:21

Yup, this has happened to me too. In my defence, it was after being 'over served' at a party, and I was a bit drunk, but I was still beyond mortified.I googled and its common! Not worth worrying about.

When I was a child, but long past accidents, I had a dream I was holding hands with other children singing "Old McDonald had a Farm" in a circle around a little shed, there was the sound of a flush and the farmer came out! I went in and did a wee and woke up in bed.....
I felt so ashamed!

Cocklodger · 18/07/2017 03:07

When I was living in a studio flat we had dhs work desk and chair near the sofa bed that we slept on.
I had a dream that I'd got up and gone for a wee. Turns out I'd simply sat on dhs (leather thank god) chair and started peeing.
I don't remember any of this btw but dh woke wondering what I was doing, looked over to find me sat on his chair having a wee!
He asked what I was doing and I responded "having a piss? Hmm " as if he was ridiculous to ask me Grin then I got into bed and went back to sleep.
Dh bless him spent an hour cleaning the chair and carpet underneath Blush then told me what I'd done when I woke up asking why there were bottles of carpet shampoo on the desk Blush
Never done it since thank goodness!

Aquamarine1029 · 18/07/2017 03:10

I did this once when I was 14, and it almost happened again about 7 years ago. Both times I was dreaming that I was on the toilet.

user1498328475 · 18/07/2017 06:28

What a relief to see this thread and know its not just me. 3 or 4 times over the years OP, that feeling of relief having finally sat on the loo and let go only to wake and find it was a dream and you aren't on the loo but you HAVE let go.

user1498328475 · 18/07/2017 06:30

Apparently sleep apnea can cause it.

Idratherbeaunicorn · 24/07/2017 04:13

OP you're definitely not alone - this has happened to me too on more than one occasion!
I've also had dreams where I'm asleep in my dream and I'm dreaming a loo/ wee dream and I wet myself in the dream - luckily I didn't wet the bed IRL but I woke up in my dream sopping wet and then woke up actually very relieved to find that I hadn't wet the bed!!

SabineUndine · 24/07/2017 04:27

I did this once. Woke up as I started to pee. Hasn't happened again, I am pleased to say.
