I wet the bed

There, I said it.

I had a dream about being sat on the toilet and woke up covered in my own piss. Mortified. AIBU to be concerned that something underlying caused this or was it just an unfortunate one off?? Anyone else done it?!

MineKraftCheese · 17/07/2017 09:02

I did this a few years back, I dreamt that my hot water bottle had burst but I was actually lying in piss. Grin

Miserylovescompany2 · 17/07/2017 09:03

Another one who's had the toilet dream! It felt so real, even the feeling of being sat on the toilet itself - obviously, the realisation that you've never awoken from sleep and actually pissed the bed is mortifying :(

Only done it once thank The Lord!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 17/07/2017 09:20

I peed in my friend's guest bed!

Also, I once got off the bus, so desperate for the loo that I couldn't walk without crossing my legs. I had to cross a very busy road to get back home. One buggy+one VI woman= a risk of becoming roadkill at the best of times, without the crossed legs bit!

I backed into a tall hedge (there's an abandoned factory behind it before anyone thinks I pissed in someone's drive 😅) and weed, through my clothes, standing up in the hedge!

I was wet, but safe!

At least you were asleep when it happened! Please don't worry.

OrangeFluff · 17/07/2017 09:22

Happened once to me when I was about 19 and staying over at my boyfriends. Dreamt I was having a wee, and awoke to find I actually had. Mortifying! We are not alone!

WatchingFromTheWings · 17/07/2017 09:25

I've had the toilet dream too! Peed the bed! 🚽

stumblymonkeyagain · 17/07/2017 09:35

This has never happened to me, so now I'm paranoid that my time is yet to come. Confused

Looneytune253 · 17/07/2017 09:36

I've done that once years ago. Just a one off, never done it since

Pinkstars2501 · 17/07/2017 09:47

I've done this! I would have been embarrassed but not so much if I was sleeping alone, but DH was in the bed too. It happened twice in a week and never again.
First time was the toilet dream, second I was terrified in my dream as someone was chasing me and shouting what they were going to do to me.
DH was great about it really...

TheNoodlesIncident · 17/07/2017 09:47

I've done that too, as a one-off, when I was a kid. Was sooo shocked!

It sounds like it's a lot more common than you'd think

Daisy17 · 17/07/2017 09:56

Oh yes, the toilet dream! I'm always back at school chatting to friends and we wander into the cubicles for a wee and..... I can wake myself up in time now.

notsmartenough · 17/07/2017 10:03

I often have dreams where I am looking for a toilet but there are usually problems as to why I can't/won't use it. e.g. no door, communal bench toilet, filthy and overflowing.
My body usually interprets this as time to wake up and go for real.
Once I had a dream where I found a 'nice' toilet and had a very long, much needed pee. Woke up with a start and to my amazement hadn't wet the bed.
I have bought a mattress protector now. Just in case.

supersop60 · 17/07/2017 10:11

I sometimes dream of searching for a loo, and when I find one, it's got no seat, or door, or some other problem. Then I wake up and realise I need to actually go to the loo. The weird workings of the brain!

Extua · 17/07/2017 10:24

Are you under any stress? I wet the bed when living in an awful flat where I was harassed daily by my neighbour and was going through a multitude of other stressful things. Same thing I dreamed about going to the toilet and had wet the bed. I moved a few days later and it happened two more times but since things have settled it stopped happening.

Redsippycup · 17/07/2017 10:25

I often have the dream of needing the loo and there being loads available, but none i can use - no door / half height door / no walls / filthy / I'm in the gent's / lots of people are watching me etc etc etc.

I think i read somewhere it's about emotional baggage and not letting go...

I also have almost wet the bed mid pee dream - i now wake in a panic every time i realise i am having the loo dream!

QuimReaper · 17/07/2017 10:26

Amazing x-posts notsmart and super! I've had similar dreams, but I'm not sure I wake up needing the loo after them - just anxiety dreams I think.

I've done this too btw in the last couple of years - I had only just started peeing so it wasn't terrible but I was really surprised! Hasn't happened again.

StinkyMcgrinky · 17/07/2017 10:27

I've also done this while having a toilet dream! I was 8 months pregnant at the time and DH watched me perch on the side of the bed and wee. Glamour!

Figaro2017 · 17/07/2017 10:28

It's only a problem if you sleep in the top bunk.

TheLittleShirt · 17/07/2017 10:29

I often have those strange dreams where I am looking for a loo, but there is always a problem as in no door, fithy seat etc. I believe it is a way of stopping us having an accident in bed...........Only it doesn't always work and I have had 2 or 3 bed wetting incidents. The last time fortunately I was wearing a night time sanitary towel and this absorbed much of the wee. My DH was very understanding. I now always have a bath towel under the sheet just in case.

purpleprincess24 · 17/07/2017 10:36

I have been known to sleepwalk ....... so ...

I got up out of bed because I needed a wee ... I got that bit right ... I then went out of our bedroom, into our office, which is in the next room, sat on my desk chair and had a wee !!!! The worst bit was DH came in to see what was going on 😂😂

I still feel mortified even now !

PollytheDolly · 17/07/2017 10:51

Seems common OP.

Oh, and me too!

OverTheHammer · 17/07/2017 12:30

Thank god im not alone in this! How strange ... the dreaded bog dream!

I remember when DH came back from his Christmas night out absolutely hammered. He got out of bed, walked over to the bedroom wall and just pissed up it! He thought he was in the urinal at the pub still 😂 (I went mad Blush )

OP posts:
AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 17/07/2017 12:48

DH once pissed in his parents' wardrobe when he was still living with them! He was wankered, and sleepwalking.

HerBluebiro · 17/07/2017 22:50

Oh my God. I thought I was the only one!

Never a full empty, just a dribble. But horrifying. I never sleep walk. Do sleep talk. But the loo dream is never when I'm drunk. Usually just over tired

AnathemaPulsifer · 17/07/2017 22:55

I've done the 'waking up starting to wee after dreaming I was on a toilet' often enough that dreaming about toilets makes me wake up to go to the loo Blush

AlmostAJillSandwich · 17/07/2017 22:56

I have severe OCD and a mortifying fear of ever wetting myself, awake or asleep, so im scared of sleeping. I have this dream EVERY night, whether i need a wee in reality or not. I'll be looking for a loo, or have sat down and just started a wee in my dream, when i wake up, panicking like hell i've weed for real. Sometimes i wake up in my dream but am still asleep, and i know the real me needs a wee, and i'm screaming and begging the people in my dream to wake me up for real.

I have only ever actually weed in my sleep once, several years ago, but the sanitary towels i wear as a constant protection contained everything so i was lucky.

I've spoken to my GP about it and the reality is, absolutely everyone is capable of wetting the bed, any night. It usually happens when you really need a wee but are in too deep a sleep to wake up in time, and the going to the loo in your dream is your body subconsciously trying to wake you up to alert you. Just because it has happened once, doesn't mean it will ever happen to you again, you were just unlucky.
