To ask - is this just me? Sweaty groin!

I'm so sorry for even asking, but here goes...

When it's hot, or when I exercise, or make a presentation at work, I sweat. Now, when I'm running, it's ok, I get hot and sweat all over. I get really red too, which I hate, but it comes with the territory.

However, on hot days or when I'm nervous, I sweat a lot in my groin. It's definitely not discharge, but (sorry) I basically have wet pants, from the edges coming in, in crescent shaped wet patches. It is so bad I have to change, and it feels really uncomfortable.

Is it normal to sweat so much you need to change pants when it's hot? Hoping for some solidarity here, but I understand if you don't want to answer Grin. Really sorry for lowering the tone Blush

Yep I get swamp crotch too ;) in fact, particularly in the full summer heat, my panty liners come unstuck :( I have been debating about trying reusable panty liners but they look so thick and bulky...

pigsDOfly · 15/07/2017 20:18

Ah yes, I knew there had to be some compensations to getting old. And this is one of them (not many others). You don't sweat as much.

For younger women however, those sweaty patches are perfectly normal and healthy.

chocolatespiders · 15/07/2017 20:18

These are the only powders I have found that don't contain talc - linked to cancer

ErnesttheBavarian · 15/07/2017 20:19

I wear a pair of cycling shirts/ leggings under a skirt if to warm for tights. While it is warmer, it does help with the sweaty and definitely against sweaty upper thigh rub

fusspot66 · 15/07/2017 20:24

It's adrenergic sweating - hands, feet, groin and axillae (armpits). Can happen on a cold day too. It's not vaginal discharge and a panty liner will only make you sweatier. The adrenal glands control it, though l think your body learns to do sweating as standard. I have it and hate it at interviews and presentations and in heatwaves.

Urubu · 15/07/2017 20:54

Same here, unfortunately.
No solution except changing underware 2/3 times a day.

mrsRosaPimento · 15/07/2017 20:56

Amazon sell johnsons corn flour powder, no talc. It's slightly more expensive, but I couldn't go without. I worry that I'll stand up and look like I've wet myself. Fanny condensation!!Grin

And I thought it was just me. it's an embarrassing thing that doesn't get talked about so I'm glad other women can read this thread and see its annoying but very common.
Do others worry about smell down there when they sweat? sorry I know it's not nice it's just annoying to have to change knickers all the time and apart from wearing panty liners which I hate what else can you do?

chocolatespiders · 15/07/2017 21:18

Lush do a silky underwear powder which is lovely

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 15/07/2017 21:28

For the thigh rubbing -Body Glide has changed my life

TheFlyingFauxPas · 15/07/2017 21:36

Asda do a liquid baby talc. I've just started using it for my chub rub. I can wear skirts again 😊

ElegantApparel · 15/07/2017 22:12

Wow! So many of us! I'm glad it isn't just me - it's not something you can just ask your friends really is it?

I'm not overweight, nor do I get chub rub, but I appreciate that must be horrible. For me it is just those crescents Smile. And the wariness when getting up from plastic chairs Blush.

Do men get this too?? Or does the greater amount of hair in the locale help somehow?

No magic wand then either. I can see that talc might help a bit, but it's not a long term/all day solution really. Hmm. At least I now know I am not suffering alone, and for that I thank you all!

Another sufferer here - never wear anything light coloured on bottom half, always black/navy......oh and big pants too 😬

moutonfou · 15/07/2017 22:21

It happens to me too.

I can't get rid of hair down there completely as I get a terrible rash. So I have a small amount of hair which I trim every so often. And I've noticed that when it's slightly longer, my knickers don't get as damp. I can only think the hair acts as a barrier/absorbs the sweat.

TBH that's probably what the hair is for - hence its presence in the armpits where we sweat as well. So if it really bothers anyone, and you don't already have one, maybe consider a little 'carpet'! Grin

GallicosCats · 15/07/2017 22:28

It's worth pointing out that synthetic knickers (microfibre, lace, lycra) are absolutely dreadful for making your crotch sweat. Stick to cotton if you can and avoid those plasticky panty liners.

Mollie85 · 15/07/2017 23:31

Burts bees dusting powder is bloody expensive talc free and smells lovely. You can also get their cream to powder too.

I wear cotton pants and linen trousers to work and still get this. You are not alone Grin

Highlyinternational · 16/07/2017 13:33

Ok this is interesting going on what upthreaders have been saying about the hair situation.
Id been growing out for a Brazilian bikini wax when I posted, so was relatively furry and wasn't particularly sweaty in the groin area.

Post wax - more sweaty.

I'd say that concludes for me, at any rate may be different for others, that having a good old rug keeps the crescent at bay.

Honeybee79 · 16/07/2017 13:39

Yeah, me too. Sweat marks from the edges in!

Alconleigh · 16/07/2017 13:44

Thank you so much OP. I've been debating starting this thread for a while......so pleased to know it's not just me.....and yes for me definitely nerves related, so it's much worse after e,g. A meeting I am nervous about.......

Gingernaut · 16/07/2017 13:45

I have hyperhidrosis and this is so bad, that if I wear the wrong fabrics, I end up looking like I've wet myself.

Sliding forward off a plastic seat, wiping as I go, tends to hide the 'diamond of shame'.

If I get the opportunity, I turn around, put my bag on the chair, on the pretext of checking something in it and then wiping the chair down "as my bag has been on the floor".

chocolatespiders · 16/07/2017 16:56

Sometimes I sit on my Cardi. Does anyone else sit on anything?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/07/2017 17:01

This is why we have pubic hair to draw it away! Much worse if you're bald. Start growing your bushes Grin
