AIBU about sausages and mash?

I'm probably going to get slammed for this but...
As a VERY rare treat I've picked DD up from nursery and popped into Sainsbury's to have a quick lunch. She wanted sausages, so I ordered her sausages and mash, and she was confused by the fact there was a single sausage on her plate. She ate it and asked for another, I explained that there was only one and she responded by saying but there's always two! Agreeing with her that I'd have expected two I went ask to enquire, and ended up paying 80p for a second sausage, I'm trying to decide if I should complain!! AIBU and lost the plot here.

In my defence a few years ago I was amazed a kids portion of fish fingers came with four fish fingers!!

Surely it's always one sausage at breakfast? Even for adults.

If you are an elf.

One sausage for breakfast is totally different because a proper cooked breakfast has bacon, egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, black pudding, toast, maybe a potato cake... Sausage is only one of multiple items on a substantial plate. Most people eat cooked breakfast as brunch and you could even leave the sausage off and still have lots of food, whereas you obviously couldn't leave the sausages out of sausage and mash and still call it a meal!

if you are an elf

Grin I'm 5'8", slightly overweight at the best of times and currently pregnant! Elfin, I am not SadWink.

2 sausages for a toddler are unlikely to result in an elf in the long run.

1 sausage on a breakfast! Shock madness!

I have 3 Grin but I wouldn't have any potato type things and no bacon as I don't like it on a breakfast so I have extra sausage Smile.

I think 1 sausage when the meal was only £3 is ok as you got a drink and fruit with it. At home I'd do 2 though for my 4 & 6 year old and 3-4 for my partner.

"picked DD up from nursery"

so she's probably more of an elf than I am

Goingtobeawesome so your scrambled eggs were probably mashed up from the plastic omelettes they have delivered to reheat bleurgh Sad ... they're not very good cafes and don't do much for Sainsbury's reputation as providers of decent food - such a shame because years ago they were much nicer

One sausage on a small pre-schooler's cafe meal is really not the end of the world.

Groupie123 · 12/07/2017 21:35

I'd only expect 1 sausage in a kid's meal if it's really cheap. 2 as a minimum in an adult's.

I think sausages are possibly my favourite foodstuff. All I can think about now is how much I want sausages. And at least 3 sausages.
