It's a load of twaddle as high fees don't automatically mean a good nursey and vice versa

DeviousDaffodil · 24/03/2007 15:51

I think you might be over reacting.
It is an advert not a mantra.

It is natural for you to feel a bit put out. They are trying for the "reassuringly expensive" advertising, don't let it get to you.

totaleclipse · 24/03/2007 15:54

An expensive nursery or a cheap nursery are both run by human beings, they are the ones that are valuable not thier price list, as long as its OFSTED registered, people in childcare jobs wont take less care of your child because you pay less

it's a load of rubbish. you should feel superior not hurt - because you know that it's about more than money - you can't comfort yourself that your children will be fine just cos you throw money at everything. just forget it and get on with being a good mum!

crunchie · 24/03/2007 15:59

The sentment is there, that nothing is too much for your child, but she forgot the final partof that statement

'within one own means'

everyone does what they can

colditz · 24/03/2007 16:00

I send my ds1 to the cheapest preschool in town. I was told by his will-be head teacher that it's the most highly rated in the town, too.

Rhubarb · 24/03/2007 16:00

Things like this make me feel more angry than hurt - there's one ad at the moment for a car that implies that your children are precious cargo and only their very expensive car will protect them in a crash grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

I would think it meant that the person saying it is undiscerning. And that would make me laugh at their expense.

We are in the fortunate position of money not being the deciding factor when we looked for a nursery school for DS. We went to the one which we really liked and whih had huge warmth. Both of my children have now gone there and it received a "statement of outstanding practice" on its OFSTED. It is great, but it isn't fancy or expensive.

So more fool the people who only choose on price or imply it is the key determining factor.

zookeeper · 24/03/2007 19:40

but we like being Agony Aunts - don't spoil our day

oh it's bollocks! what makes a good nursery are IMHO patience, kindness and knowledge of pre-schoolers on the part of the staff. The level of nursery fees is irrelevant; doesn't mean that the staff will excel in their personal qualities.

3easterbunniesandnomore · 24/03/2007 19:54

Well, I say, tis alright if you are loaded and just work for the fun of it.....grr..however, if you can afford to stay at home, cos you arte loaded...why send the Kid to Nursery anyway, eh!
However, don't let this sort of comment get to you...not worth it!
