Inspired by the B*witched thread which has made me feel bloody old what was the first song you purchased?

Mine was The Tamperer ft Maya - Feel It

'What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?'

Toni Basil - Mickey (I was about 3, apparently I begged my mum for it for weeks til she gave in and bought the 7")

The first one I bought with my own money was Meatloaf Bat Out Of Hell 2.

For years I thought it was I Should Be So Lucky by Kylie Minogue, vinyl from Tesco record counter. But then I remembered buying The Sun Always Shines On TV by A-ha some years before that from the local independent record shop (vinyl of course) which sounds much better.

Single: Slade - Cum on, Feel the Noize

The first LP I remember buying was Queen II but I think I might have bought a couple of deeply uncool children's ones before that Smile

MaroonPencil · 11/07/2017 08:27

@YouBetterWORK were you very disappointed by Spaceman? I remember rushing out to buy it (on "cassingle") and the song as a whole was nothing like the spacey bit from the ad, that was just the intro!

Nitsuka · 11/07/2017 08:31

@ineedamoreadultieradult was it Popped in Souled Out? I had that on tape and would stare for ages at Marti!! I was in love with him when I was 12!
My first single was 'Love of the Common People' by Paul Young. It wasn't a proper single though, I had to save up 8 tokens from Rice Krispies. I am the youngest of 4, so it seemed like such a treat that it was finally my turn and it seems to take ages to save up!! It has a picture of snap, crackle and pop on it and the b side was KC and the sunshine Band with 'Give it up'.
I still like both those songs and I feel it's quite a cool first single! Grin

The first single I bought was Angry Anderson 'Suddenly' (Scott and Charlene's wedding song from Neighbours).

The first proper album - on tape - was New Kids on the Block's first album Hanging Tough.

Argh I'm old!

I had Bryan Adam's "waking up the neighbours"(?) and the MAC Hammer album taped by a friend before the East 17 one, though. And tons of stuff taped up from radio shows. "Oh, nooo! Stop talking over the sooong!!!" Haha
