He's 5.
He barely slept last night, it was horribly hot and he ended up in our bed. He was talking in his sleep loads, which he usually only does when he's brewing a bug. Someone's car alarm went off three times in the night and he cried before settling each time.
He's still asleep now, unsurprisingly. Drenched in sweat.
We would leave in an hour. I'm tempted to leave him be and see if he wakes up and gets ready, rather than wake him up and wrangle him.
Wwyd? I'm watching the news in bed and the teenagers are stomping around getting ready so it's not like we're tiptoeing around him, and he usually bounces out of bed at around 6am.

I'd leave him. You know how you'd feel going to work with a crappy nights sleep, and that coupled with you believing he may be coming down with something, wont do him any favours.
If he wakes naturally and in time I'd see how he is, shower and off to school/the couch depending on how he is.
If he wakes later and is fine, off to school with a quite word about why he is late.

Peng as a teacher I'd rather a child who had a poor nights sleep, and was possibly ill, missed one day of school. They won't learn when feeling so poorly and therefore the attendance on those days makes as much of an impact as non-attendance.
However, long term, making a child attend when in such a state health wise can lead to longer absences as their illness/exhaustion worsens.

Peng-how is a 5 year old going to get a better 'outcome' from going to school feverish and exhausted?
Remember that time in reception when your mum kept you off school because you'd had an awful night's sleep and she thought you were coming down with something? No,I don't either because I can't remember anything from reception days! They don't even legally need to be there!
