To be devastated my wedding dress is lost?

I ordered it from Debenhams in the sale, perfect size etc. I tried the same thing on in the shop and needed just that one smaller size, they had it online, last size left.

I received an email saying my parcel had been delivered to a neighbour.

She doesn't have it.

This was over two weeks ago. It was suppose to have arrived by 30/06/2017 the latest. After that date, I kept ringing for updates and they said they'd call me back etc etc (they never did), and then they said they were getting the courier to find out where it is. Courier confirmed they left it with neighbour.

So, customer services told me today that it's out of their hands. That is that. I pleaded and after a lot of pleading, they gave me Head Office email.

I emailed Head Office who sent this back to me, I have attached a picture.

AIBU to say this is really bad customer service? They don't seem to care at all.

I have gone as high as it seems I can go.

My wedding is the first Saturday of August. I have a big baby bump that looked incredibly flattering in this dress but now I have to get something else entirely last minute.

I felt beautiful in that dress Sad

Op I know it's prob a hassle and there are lots of things you'd rather be doing but have you considered knocking on the doors of the other flats around you to see if anyone's taken it in? (Obv not the neighbours at no.10, they sound mean!)

Of course its royal mails fault and you should still pursue them, but in paracticsl terms checking with your other neighbours is prob the quickest route to getting your dress back.

Good luck!

I had a parcel sent out by very. I received an email saying it had been delivered and signed for but I hadn't received it. They had sent it by Royal Mail. Royal Mail said it had been signed for. Eventually Royal Mail sent A copy of the signature which was just a squiggle. The customer service agent at very insinuated that I was lying about not receiving the parcel because it has been signed for.
The next day as I drove off the drive I saw a parcel on my rear view mirror - Royal Mail had thrown the parcel under the car and signed for it themselves!

Hi OP not sure if this is any help as I know you said you were short on cash but I searched the Debenhams website for the dress (the email at the top said juliette) it said it was a Dorothy Perkins dress. I looked on the DP website and they have it in stock in sizes 10,12,14 and 16. It might not be the dress but I thought I'd let you know just in case.

Snackarella - you look gorgeous!

Xeneth - yes, the trust may be broken with Debenhams, which is why I thought it better to order from Dorothy Perkins

MotherofWren - a few of us have pointed out to the OP that it's for sale on Dorothy Perkins, but well done for posting the link. I'm not sure if the OP has read these posts though as she hasn't acknowledged that buying it from Dorothy Perkins is an option

BewareOfDragons · 06/07/2017 22:47

I'm 'next door' in Cambridgeshire if you decide you want to see dress pics, OP. :)

Polly2345 · 06/07/2017 22:49

Contact your local newspaper. Good short for them, bad PR for Debenhams, and if it has gone to a random address the person who has it might read it and return it to you.

IDontBowlOnShabbos · 06/07/2017 22:58

Absolutely awful service from Debenhams. Hope you get it sorted op.

I've also got a maternity wedding dress I would be happy to send to you (free). It was from Tiffany rose but they dont seem to sell it anymore. If you pm me I'd be happy to send pictures, it's a size 10 or 12.

beingsunny · 06/07/2017 23:03

Are you sure it wasn't return d to the depot?
This happened to me and the signature was from someone at the delivery depot where they had taken it back.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 06/07/2017 23:17

Placemarking to see what happens. Grin

Elland · 06/07/2017 23:31

Have you put your new address down instead of your current one (or vice versa) without realising?

BlueAndYou · 07/07/2017 11:02

Hello all, thought I'd update you all on the Debenhams issue.

I received this email this morning, about 10 minutes ago as it goes.

I'm happy with that Smile

I'm going to order the exact same thing again from from Dorothy Perkins website Flowers

Thank you all so much, I can't help but think know it was the twitter thing etc that made them act.

I still think they're a little uncaring in a sense but I won't push my luck Grin

Dumdedumdedum · 07/07/2017 11:12

Good news! Enjoy your wedding day and the rest of your pregnancy!

PetitErmitage · 07/07/2017 11:17

Good outcome and only what is right - keeping fingers crossed you find the dress you are looking for somewhere else!

Best wishes for the wedding and pregnancy.

LorelaiLeighGilmore · 07/07/2017 11:19

OP you need to state that the neighbour in question does not exist - the name does not match your neighbours name.

BlueAndYou · 07/07/2017 11:27

Hi all, I don't actually know that neighbour by their first name.

I know them only by their family name Blush

That could well be her but I won't ask now that they think I'm being a bit Hmm

Feel so bad now!

OP posts:
LorelaiLeighGilmore · 07/07/2017 11:29

If that is their name, then they must have signed for the dress, as the courier couldn't / wouldn't have made a name up - especially a rare name like that. I think your neighbour has your dress, Op.

BlueAndYou · 07/07/2017 11:36

Lorel I can't see what she'd use it for?

She's been married many a year and has 2 young children!

OP posts:
LorelaiLeighGilmore · 07/07/2017 12:32

Blue she could've sold it? Regardless, it seems very strange that if that is her name, the courier made er name up as the signatory for the parcel?!

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 07/07/2017 12:33

Lorel I can't see what she'd use it for?

She would sell it most likely.

TakeMe2Insanity · 07/07/2017 13:06

Yay! I hope you find a lovely dress now.

PetitErmitage · 07/07/2017 13:48

Ultimately, unless you've given express permission for a delivery company to leave a parcel in a specific place or with a particular person, if it goes missing then it's not your problem and whoever you bought the item from would need to rectify the situation.

Hope it all works out OP and you get your new dress!

milliemolliemou · 07/07/2017 14:11

Just make sure you click and collect from Dorothy Perkins if you can. So no more Delivery problems - or perhaps it could go to your husband's/your work? Or explain to them it's your second time of asking and when the wedding is.

To PPs - we've clearly all been through this. Even Royal Mail deliveries requiring signatures have turned up unsigned with notes saying "machine broken". Having said that, don't envy the poor sods doing Hermes et al with -10secs to find a place, find neighbour, get signature. Or relying on GPS in rural areas with 1 postcode covering x houses.

Have a lovely day OP in your fabulous dress and hats off for all offering solutions and dresses.

BlueAndYou · 07/07/2017 14:31

Another update!

Someone (I believe the CEO, didn't quite catch his title?) called.

The £85 has been refunded for me onto the card but as a gesture of good will, he's put an extra £35 back onto the card to go towards the wedding.

He was very quick to speak on the phone, as if he'd upset a little old lady Grin

That really has made my day!

Yay Smile
