Charity donation instead of preschool leaving gifts

Quick background, we go to a very naice private preschool part time up north. It's lovely, we are very privileged to have it, and be able to afford it!

Our only child starts full time school in September, and we will be at least 1k richer a month. This 1k will go to savings, or be spent on stuff.

I was thinking instead of the usual thank you teacher gifts, we get a case of wine and donate what would of been the September terms fees to a children's charity in their honour.

I would like to chose a charity that encourages pen pals etc, from a selfish point of view, as I would love my DS to do something like this! And if the preschool wanted to, they could get involved.

Is this a ridiculous idea?

And if not any ideas on what charities?

Do you know how little the staff working in your dc preschool gets paid? Thank and 'reward' them before anyone else.

OP not sire why your getting a hard time - you've already said You were buying them gifts and I'm sure they do but need another mug or random personalized object.

Wine and chocs for nursery
Maybe make charitable donation in DS's name? Maybe look for a local nursery thats underfunded?
Not sure how easy it is to find penpals at his age though - how well does he write and will it all be about PawPatrol.

Why are you so obsessed with giving them wine, of all things? Not everyone drinks.

The whole thing sounds very off. If the teachers' payscale is anything like most preschool teachers' pay, then they could do with the money you're proposing to spend on a charity. I'd forgo the charity and the wine, and give the teachers vouchers to somewhere useful instead.
