Apart from no sex Grin I realise this isn't unreasonable, but I couldn't think where else to put it.
I gave birth 4 months ago, I've just had a chemical pregnancy and I'm heartbroken. I NEED contraception but I can't think what's good
I'm not aloud the injection, implant or patch. The thought of a coil or iud thingy makes me so queezy. I'm currently taking the mini pill but I can't remember when I'm taking it or if I have Blush so I don't count on that working. My partner can't really use condoms. What else is there that's relatively good?

Pacific, I'm not sure I was just told I'm not allowed the inplant

Mirena has been awesome for me. I chose that over a copper coil as I had heavy/painful periods, so the lack of them is ace

PacificDogwod · 05/07/2017 19:35

I love mine. It has not budged.
Have it fitted towards the end of a period, when your cervix is still soft but there's not floods of blood so the person fitting it can see what they are doing Wink

TheNaze73 · 05/07/2017 19:49

Rhythm method.

Whack on some Chemical Brothers & jobs a good un' Grin

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 05/07/2017 19:54

I love my copper coil and use condoms as well atm with DFwb although ex DP and I were condomless and had no issues. I don't do well with hormomal birth control.

Had it fitted towards the end of a period as was told this is best and was surprised at how little it seemed to hurt (I am an utter wuss who cries at stubbed toes, for reference Blush). This could be my odf exp with a v weird nurse but if you only want a copper IUD, be VERY clear you won't be swayed to a Mirena. I had to insist and luckily had some gut instinct and asked them to check the exact coil as they were about to fit me...they mysteriously had a Mirena ready to roll and had to get a Nova-T out of mothballs for me instead....

Ollivander84 · 05/07/2017 19:55

DS - not just you. I got asked repeatedly if I was sure about the copper coil!
I'm on my second now

Thekissbyklimt13 · 05/07/2017 19:57

Do you remember to brush your teeth every day? If so, pop the pill packet beside your toothbrush.

stevie69 · 05/07/2017 20:00

I LOVE my Mirena coil. I've had it just over a year and I wish I'd discovered it years ago. My periods are almost completely non existent: no heavy bleeding, no pain (suffered with both for all my adult life).

For me, it's an absolute dream.

Sorry, did not see the above before I posted but ...... exactly Smile

SabineUndine · 05/07/2017 20:09

I used to have an admin job in this area years back and I read an article about the contraception preferred by female gynaecologists. It was the coil.

SleepOhHowIMissYou · 05/07/2017 20:17

The Mirena Coil works for me. Slightly uncomfortable (not painful, think smear test level) getting it fitted and removed, but it's good for five years, can be removed immediately if trying to conceive and, most importantly for me, stops my periods.

No periods! None! Never ever! Bliss!

Why the hell doesn't every woman have one (screw contraception, just for the no periods deal)?

AuntieStella · 05/07/2017 20:24

"I couldn't think where else to put it"

I guess you haven't spotted than MN has a contraception topic

Just about every method you can think of has been discussed there, so you might find it helpful to have a browse

Goldenphoenix · 05/07/2017 20:57

The Mirena Coil has been awful for me, horrible anxiety and low mood. It's all trial and error. Trying the copper coil next.

SweetChickadee · 05/07/2017 21:01

I get teeny weeny periods on the Mirena. Still love it though.

According to the chart on my GP's wall it's the most effective contraception.

Henrythehoover · 05/07/2017 21:07

I found the copper coil great. I then got sterilized at 29 so have no fear of pregnancy anymore yay

pigeondujour · 05/07/2017 21:07

I vote the coil too. I've had everything and it's been my favourite.

SuperBeagle · 05/07/2017 21:09

Take the combined pill instead of the mini. I've never understood why someone would take the mini when a wholly better option is available.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 05/07/2017 21:39

Ollivander glad it's not just me! They kept telling me I was lucky they'd do it as I don't have children/it would hurt more as I hadn't had kids. And seemed surprised I'd want such an old fashioned method instead of an IUS. I felt v patronised and they seemed to assume I'd want it back out in a flash as I was 23s so obviously would immediately change my mind and want a baby -they just about stopped short of looking to see if I had a wedding ring because it's apparently still 1943-.

Still not convinced that Mirena wasn't on purpose (they were waaay too pushy about it).

blukite · 06/07/2017 01:31

Can't have the combined pill, only mini. I think I've decided the copper coil
Thanks for your comments

UterusUterusGhali · 06/07/2017 01:41

I've tried most methods.

I've got pregnant on most of them. Hmm

Copper coil now is fantastic.
Only one questionable pregnancy.

Minera was horrific, but I can't do hormones.

You could tell your DH to man up...

Amee1992x · 06/07/2017 01:43

I take the pill as my choice of contraception. It's in the cupboard next to my toothbrush in the bathroom, remember every morning. It's not hard

UterusUterusGhali · 06/07/2017 01:46

Oh, and I'm contraindicated for the cooper coil. Was haemorrhaging every period.

The people who inserted it didn't believe I was losing up to 500ml a time. (I measure lochia for my job ffs. And I'd weighed my own loss "for fun")
But my loss has actually been less!
About 2-300 ml. Result!

Ericaequites · 06/07/2017 02:28

Lesbianism works well, and there's nothing to remember.

newbian · 06/07/2017 02:30

I have to take pills every day for health reasons. If I forget them I start to get ill. You can remember your minipill if you want to. For the first few years I set an alarm but now it's ingrained in me as a habit.

You should also see another GP or specialist to find out IF you really can't use all those methods you listed and if so WHY. We women need to take more control of our health. If you're not sure why you can't, then find out. An unplanned pregnancy is going to affect your life a lot more than it will the nurse or GP who said that to you in passing.

SomeOtherFuckers · 06/07/2017 04:15

The word is allowed OP, not aloud.

And you've said you can't have injection, implant or patch, you don't want the coil, you can't use condoms and you forget your pill.... what's left?

The mirena maybe?
