Pasta doesn't do it for me at the best of times, except for lasagne - I always think pasta needs cheese because it's so bland ... I couldn't contemplate it with curry ever though Confused

Ginkypig · 04/07/2017 19:58

While A korma wouldn't be my first choice as I'm much more of a dahl girl I see nothing wrong with having it with pasta, it's not that different to rice.

intergalacticbrexitdisco · 04/07/2017 19:58

Aww, your poor Mum. Eating it would surely be good korma? hits cymbal

EvansOvalPies · 04/07/2017 20:01

Pasta is not too different from noodles - which are often served with curries. I dish up Thai Green Chicken Curry with Rice Noodles (or even Egg Noodles) fairly regularly.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 04/07/2017 20:02

I don't see the problem Confused curry with pasta is loads better than rice!

Serialweightwatcher · 04/07/2017 20:06

It's like when DH and kids ask for chips with the Chinese takeaway - I know it's not horrendous but seems wrong to me that chips should go with it - I like foods to go together like they were meant to ... not many people I am assuming would eat Chinese with pasta

WhereDoAllTheWildThingsGo · 04/07/2017 20:16

But 'curry' is essentially what you make of it. Arguably veg mixed with chicken in sauce could be a 'curry' and that would be fine to eat with pasta.

I don't understand the outrage.

EvansOvalPies · 04/07/2017 20:19

In Wales, curries in pubs are often ordered with 'half and half' which Curry with Chips and Rice. (The first time I heard my Dad do it, I wondered what on earth he was talking about).

Dad also likes Lasagne with chips. I know this is a weird combination, but I have to confess to doing it here on occasion, to bulk out the lasagne if there's not quite enough to go around. DP loves it now, yet he'd never heard of it before. Grin

ChildrensPartyNightmare · 04/07/2017 20:20

I like curry with pasta! And on a jacket potato!

Isn't it just a differently spiced tomato or creamed based sauce?

PurpleDaisies · 04/07/2017 20:20

Lasagne and chips isn't unusual.

EvansOvalPies · 04/07/2017 20:20

which is

EvansOvalPies · 04/07/2017 20:23

IT is where I live now, Purple - People look at me aghast when I mention it. (It does taste lovely though)

pootypootwell · 04/07/2017 20:23

Curry and toast is great, and served all the time by my Asian family, which must make it ok Grin

ChildrensPartyNightmare · 04/07/2017 20:24

I also do a naan bread, chopped in half and toasted in the toaster.

Serve with Hienz mean beans, and cheese.

Amazing

EvansOvalPies · 04/07/2017 20:24

Anything tastes nice on toast, Pooty . . .

Huldra · 04/07/2017 20:29

Crinkle chips are the best to have with curry, the sauce sticks to the curves.

nameusername · 04/07/2017 23:28

I would :). I've used pasta including penne, macaroni, etc. many a times as a substitute when I ran out of egg noodles when doing fried or soupy noodles. yum indeed.

justilou · 05/07/2017 00:09

My dad made curry with custard powder once. Can't possibly have been as bad as that. I asked Dad that his "experiments" were a sign of possible Alzheimer's Disease, and didn't get subjected to that again.

Angeldt · 05/07/2017 00:16

Chilli con carne and rice with soy sauce is lush.

Italiangreyhound · 05/07/2017 00:51

lovely, it's called 'Fushion'...

Italiangreyhound · 05/07/2017 00:55

fusion! Sorry dyslexia strikes!

CremeFresh · 05/07/2017 00:58

Years ago my bf's face was Confused when my mum served up curry with roast potatoes, no rice , just roasties.

I ventriloquisted 'just eat it' Grin

seventhgonickname · 05/07/2017 00:59

One of the nicest curries I ever had was a result of defrosting two anonymous dishes from the freezer ,one was a hot pork curry and the other turned out to be lasagne, the pasta got broken on the pan as I defrosted it.I have never had the nerve to try and reproduce it.
