Wondering Why I was banned

Spudthecat · 04/07/2017 16:09

I was a member of a different parenting forum, I was a member for 3 years, recently I wanted to ask a question about something personal so wanted to be anonymous as my screen name was identifiable, anyway I was banned for having more than one account (seen many people do what I did so didn't realise it was such a huge issue) anyway I have tried to sign back up again and it won't let me, even after changing my ip address, I've tried to sign up using my iPad instead of phone still won't allow it, I've cleared cookies used different emails and screen names and nothing also used wifi in Starbucks and tesco, I am banned instantly again, how are they tracking me! Any ideas what I can do! Feels really harsh I was permanently banned

Nethuns needs to carry on doing what they are doing. While that site exists, their fluffiest members aren't here. I couldn't cope if the tickers found their way here!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 05/07/2017 08:06

I wasn't a fan of their talk boards because of the hunning, txtspk and tickers.

Well, we don't have tickers but the hunning, txtspk & ending posts with xx are all becoming more common.

Spudthecat · 05/07/2017 09:50

Both threads were deleted so they are not even there anymore, I can't fine them at all, it was only because my ex spies on me as he knew I was on there so I wanted to ask something that he wouldn't be able to find under my name, nothing that interesting at all! Definitely don't live anywhere rural I am in london, but I think the poster who said it's some kind of special cookies is right as when I turned my cookies off it allows me to view the site again, I haven't attempted to sign back up again yet, so maybe it's something they put on that doesn't delete when you delete the regular cookies.

empress I know and it pisses me off. I won't read a post with any of that in. But I've seen posters bringing it up and being pounced on for it so I don't say anything on the thread. It's also what puts me off using Facebook selling sites too.

Sanoffyhighstepson · 05/07/2017 11:35

I was banned from there for calling semen cum! Got a snotty email about language. Twats. I didn't even write cum, I wrote it like c*m and they still got their tits out about it 😱

akkakk · 05/07/2017 11:59

You won't have an issue after May 2018 Grin
the new Data protection laws come into force:
ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/news-and-events/news-and-blogs/2017/03/new-data-protection-law-gives-people-greater-control-over-their-own-information/
which allow you to require an organisation to remove All personal information...

once they have you will be able to re-register - if they ban you then they didn't remove all personal data and you can sue them Grin

Notknownatthisaddress · 05/07/2017 15:38

@MyPatronusIsaUnicorn

I feel the need to get banned from there.

Why not just stop posting? Confused

RebelRogue · 05/07/2017 15:40

@MyPatronusIsAUnicorn try it.. it's really easyGrin

CheshireChat · 05/07/2017 16:05

I really want to know why people got deleted on this thread now Shock Grin.

MastersStudent2017 · 05/07/2017 16:18

Speaking of getting banned.. I got my account blocked because I created a SEPARATE thread to ask people for help on my dissertation research project. They moaned at me for a while and told me to move over to the NFP surveys thread which is fair enough but those threads just get no traffic- which makes life so difficult when I need to collect 100 respondents :(

If anyone is feeling generous and can spare about 7 minutes to answer an academic survey (anonymous) I would be super super grateful! It's about women and maternity leave and the only criteria are that you should have returned to the same organisation after maternity leave. Don't have to be there currently and you could have left like a month or whatever after, but you must have returned to the same place. Doesn't have to be recent at all!

Would be grateful for any help! Message me if you'd like the link- it's an official one from The London School of Economics or if you have a look on the NFP threads- it should be there.

Thanks!!

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 05/07/2017 21:06

Notknown I don't post there. My point was I feel left out Grin given how many people here have been banned and I am such a rule follower it feels rebellious to me to try it out. Plus I want to see how easy it is.

Megbert · 05/07/2017 21:16

Cuntpudde... I adore this.

Now why is everyone being deleted?

Megbert · 05/07/2017 21:18

Puddle!

Doh.

peachgreen · 05/07/2017 21:22

We need nethuns as a foil to Mumsnet! Also tickers are very useful when you're googling weird pregnancy symptoms and want to know if the poster went on to have a successful pregnancy. Grin

AlmostAJillSandwich · 05/07/2017 21:26

I got myself banned from FML, purely because i mentioned i don't get along with females and prefer guy friends.

RebelRogue · 05/07/2017 21:27

@AlmostAJillSandwich is that fuckmylife? Didn't even knew you could get banned in there!!

Gingerbeer200 · 22/07/2017 13:54

Now we all know why she was banned lol.

LivingInMidnight · 22/07/2017 13:59

There's an Irish website that manages to track me too, but it's not instantaneous, it could be a week or two later. They'll write banned for being a pbp and give my previous name. How they figure it out I don't fucking know either. I suspect they track passwords, as I went through a spate of moving houses, losing phones, buying new laptop and they still fucking tracked me. Psychic cunts.

IdoHaveAName · 22/07/2017 14:06

and they're like sledgehammers with the banning too.

Willow2017 · 22/07/2017 14:43

You didnt need to use a 'new name' you can set up an 'annonymous' account name attatched to your own account with NM to post something sensitive. Done it more than once.

There are a few great people on there, proper sensible replies to threads with sense of humour too but I dont go on there much now its getting pretty boring, very slow threads, nothing like the amazing random entitled stuff on here Smile

Although I really have to bite my tongue sometimes, I cant believe that (mostly) women can come up with some of the crap mysoginist stuff they do on there and you cant call them out on it properly. And the cries of 'bully' when you do pull them up on such crap are infuriating. Havent been banned yet but been warned as something got through the swear filter (not my fault!)

But going from your last 2 threads I highly suspect that the 'name' wasnt the actual cause of the ban. JMHO

w0lfgirl · 03/12/2017 18:40

I've been on Netmums for a few years. I haven't been using the site much this year but I logged on Friday and I can't see any posts. My profile isn't appearing and I can't do anything on it. I contacted NM asking why this is happening. They sent an automated reply telling me someone will get back to me, but no one replied yet. Does this mean I've been banned?
