I hate the fact that all sorts of pervs are probably sat in front of their 42" and bigger tvs, while young people are displaying their bits in giant closeups.
I feel these young people (and lets face it they're nearly all young) are being exploited for the sake of ratings.

For the record, I'm not a prude about my body and will often go to clothing optional beaches on holidays, skinny dip in pools, I have sat in saunas (sometimes mixed) with no clothes on. No clothes? No problem.
But, there is something that doesn't sit right about this programme.
I can't put my finger on it. There's a seedy element.
There's not much that shocks me and Im not one for banning things, but this programme should be banned, or at the very least banished to after 12pm, on one of these pay per view channels.

It should not be on in the middle of the week, at prime time viewing.
Which is very often family viewing time.

What's the point of OFCOM when they allow shit like this on our screens? Confused

I think it's less harmful than the shit that is Big Brother and Love Island for the youth of today.

*The PP explained that although the show exploits both sexes, women are much more likely than men to be damaged by it in the long term.

You quoted some of the very obvious reasons for that in your post. So, relatively straight forward despite your attempt to over simplify and minimize.*

I don't agree and I am not persuaded by the argument which was offered in response to my post. The show is utter rubbish and I can't imagine why anyone would take the time out of their day to watch it but the fact remains that men and women of all sexualities and apparently all gender identities are represented. It would seem that the makers of the program have made a conscious effort to degrade everyone equally, but that doesn't satisfy those who need to portray women as the biggest victims regardless of circumstance.

So what?

All concerned are exploited during the recording of the show. Women will go on to be disproportionately affected in the long term. Accept it, don't accept it. It really doesn't matter.

Women are the biggest victims of sexual exploitation and trust me, no one finds it satisfying.

SeagullsStoleMyChurro · 04/07/2017 18:07

Where are all their pubes??

ForalltheSaints · 04/07/2017 18:46

It's not the nudity I dislike, it is the comments and questioning about people's bodies that is objectionable.

If it was something along the lines of the Dutch programme where people meet naked on a desert island, or a meeting in a sauna or swimming pool naked, with the kinds of questions of a standard dating show (if such a thing exists) then it would be OK to me.

Littleraincloud · 04/07/2017 19:03

I think its awful. But then , I find one born every minute distasteful and I seem to be the only woman on the planet that thinks so

Zoeey · 04/07/2017 19:25

I've watched it a couple of times! I had to watch it the second time just to get over the shock Shock

Is this sort of an advance stage of many date sites? Is this expected to be the new norm in dating?

If this was the case I would be out! (If i werent already married). One look at my overweight and saggy body it would make them sick.

I noticed that there were no middle aged males or females being featured so I presume this is for the young and fit.

It's tv trying to be shocking, it's young people trying to be shocking, it must he shocking for their family and friends.

Will they regret doing this in the future. ..maybe seems like their grasping at a tiny slice of fame.

What's wrong with dating and waiting for that first glimpse of nakedness?

It would be like opening your Christmas present before Christmas and what a let down that would be!

I watched it once because I didn't believe it really was men being naked too. I cringed at the conversation about the men's penises.🤮
Also why are so many of the women bald?

MarthaArthur · 10/04/2018 18:30

Its got nothing to do with feminism. Men and women are shown equally.

No one is being exploited. They are grown adults. Dont want to watch it? Then dont.

And the jimmy saville comment was out of order. They are grown adults not bloody children.

coconuttella · 10/04/2018 18:34

For those concerned about pervs getting off on this... Don’t you realise there’s a whole world of porn out there that’s a million times more explicit and disturbing!

Addictedtohavingbabies · 10/04/2018 18:40

I agree. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination but I find the nudity completely unnecessary and gross.
It sends the message that relationships are based on what your genitals look like. And they only show perfect body types. People come in all shapes and sizes.

bumblenbean · 10/04/2018 18:45

somerford I tend to agree with you. It’s a horribly crass show but I don’t think it’s exploitative of women per se.

Re the age range, surely this can largely be explained by the fact older people would simply be less inclined to appear on such a show? That said, on one of the couple of episodes I sAw I’m sure there was a chap in his late 40s/ early 50s ....
