I hate the fact that all sorts of pervs are probably sat in front of their 42" and bigger tvs, while young people are displaying their bits in giant closeups.
I feel these young people (and lets face it they're nearly all young) are being exploited for the sake of ratings.

For the record, I'm not a prude about my body and will often go to clothing optional beaches on holidays, skinny dip in pools, I have sat in saunas (sometimes mixed) with no clothes on. No clothes? No problem.
But, there is something that doesn't sit right about this programme.
I can't put my finger on it. There's a seedy element.
There's not much that shocks me and Im not one for banning things, but this programme should be banned, or at the very least banished to after 12pm, on one of these pay per view channels.

It should not be on in the middle of the week, at prime time viewing.
Which is very often family viewing time.

What's the point of OFCOM when they allow shit like this on our screens? Confused

Tbf sexbox is worse people will do anything to be on tv

RortyCrankle · 03/07/2017 16:35

Agree with MommaGee I had never even heard of it, let alone watched it. Not something I would want to watch so I don't. Try it- turn off or over.

PS if it's on at 10pm it's post watershed and up to parents if their older children watch it or not.

SerfTerf · 03/07/2017 16:46

Try it- turn off or over.

I haven't seen it either but I'm still concerned that we're suddenly a society that broadcasts such objectifying dross on terrestrial television.

"Turn over" misses the point entirely.

MommaGee · 03/07/2017 16:52

I prefer it to frigging Love Island. And there's the one on the Island where they date naked. And the one on the bed.

MommaGee · 03/07/2017 16:53

Oh and the one with the e's on the beach

SerfTerf · 03/07/2017 16:53

How and why are women uniquely disadvantaged here?

Women are more likely than men to be the victims of sexual assault or sexually coercive behaviour.

Women are more objectified by our culture and women's bodies more widely fetishised.

Women are more harassed and stalked then men. Women struggle more for equal pay and parity of esteem in the workplace.

Viewers are effected by the drip, drip effect of objectifying human beings on screen. Many studies have shown it.

Young participants are doubtless jollied into appearing and it's all made out to be harmless fun but they might bitterly regret it later when they're trying to lead a team, meeting the inlaws or considering a career change such as teaching. These are young people. It's not appropriate for a state funded broadcaster to be enabling such potentially regretted exhibitionism.

BatFacedGirl · 03/07/2017 17:02

It was absolutely dire. Terrible. And quite shocking

Of course I couldn't tear my eyes away but I was positively AGOG

Untangled07 · 03/07/2017 17:03

Maybe it should be on a little later, but I personally don't see this show as being much more sexy than Embarrassing Bodies. It's all very awkward and British. I expect there's much more exciting stuff for perverts to be watching online. But even if people are getting turned on by naked, consenting adults on their TV, I hardly think that makes them 'pervy degenerates'! It's not like they've hidden a secret camera in a public loo.

Arealhumanbeing · 03/07/2017 17:04

I saw the bit where the presenter asked one of the women why she has a 'full bush'. Shocked tone of voice and everything.

Moron.

MommaGee · 03/07/2017 17:07

Participants are from early 20's up into early 30's according to google. Wide variety of jobs and backgrounds. I just don't buy the corruption of the poor innocents, lured off the streets into taking their clothes off for telly. Theyre old enough to contemplate the impacts of getting naked for telly

MommaGee · 03/07/2017 17:08

untangled try Outlander. I proper blushed haha

Oh I see. So a show which is empirically degrading to men and women equally is actually more degrading to women (and apparently takes away womens' rights somehow)....because patriarchy? Nah. It's a terrible program but I don't think we need a game of oppression quest here.

Exactly.
What seems fun when you're young could cause huge embarrassment later on.

It's not appropriate for a state funded broadcaster to be enabling such potentially regretted exhibitionism.

Spot on.

OP I don't like the idea of this programme, but disagree it's nit-feminist.

Also It's not appropriate for a state funded broadcaster to be enabling such potentially regretted exhibitionism. It' on Channel 4 isn't it? That's not state funded.

Flyinggeese · 03/07/2017 22:38

Sorry 'anti-feminist'

flimflaminurjams · 03/07/2017 22:54

Its just a crap pointless show.

Presenter is creepy cringe. The contestants are cocky Wink wannabees but couldn't get on Big Brother or X Factor so had to opt for this drivel

It serves no purpose and is a waste of space. That's why I don't watch it. I want to be entertained, inspired or learn something new from tv. Not listen to why someone likes someone elses fanjo.

BonnieF · 03/07/2017 23:29

Naked attraction panders to the British public's taste for

A, cheap, tacky titillation &
B, sanctimonious, hypocritical moralising.

No wonder it's attracting so many comments on MN.....

deffoncforthis · 03/07/2017 23:43

It's porn, and it is exploitative in a way that i's damaging to young women and men.

I turned it off as soon as I realised what was actually going on.

Notknownatthisaddress · 03/07/2017 23:51

I hate it, it's awful... Like most reality tv.

Almost as bad as the sex in a cube bollocks that's been on, (sexbox?) It's so obvious they haven't really done it!

memyselfandaye · 03/07/2017 23:55

Apparantly a bloke that works in our Morrisons is going to be on it this month

He was featured in the local paper.

Arealhumanbeing · 04/07/2017 00:18

@Somerfield The PP explained that although the show exploits both sexes, women are much more likely than men to be damaged by it in the long term.

You quoted some of the very obvious reasons for that in your post. So, relatively straight forward despite your attempt to over simplify and minimize.

SmashingBlouses · 04/07/2017 07:59

I have heard about this programme, but not watched it. It sounds like absolute mind-numbing, cringe-worthy cack.

Typical channel 4 show. I do like some stuff on C4, but I'm puzzled by their obsession with nakedness and what they are trying to achieve by it. I watched one programme on their about living without possessions in a bare house with literally nothing in it. It could have been an interesting exploration of whether we really need so much 'stuff' in our lives, but of course they had to take the clothes as well! It just turned it in to a pointless, childish programme about tits and bums. I feel sorry for the people participating and hope they don't regret it, but I suppose they are adults and can make their own decisions.

It's quite telling how there are never any wobbly, older people in these programmes. They are all gym bunnies under 30! It's just about ratings and I doubt that C4 really care how starkly obvious it is.

SmashingBlouses · 04/07/2017 08:04

Lots of people have said on this thread about going to work after being on a programme like this. My guess that is the next programme. People facing their colleagues in the nud and over intellectualising whether your professional opinion of them changes, or something equally ridiculous! Shock

MommaGee · 04/07/2017 08:38

Smashing you could definitely sell that to C4
