Umm, in a word -Yes!

ghostyslovesheets · 02/07/2017 22:06

yes yabu

those things are still rare

Babyroobs · 02/07/2017 22:06

YANBU. I'm not so worried for myself but in the city where I live there seems to have been a huge increase in stabbings and people being beaten up. In our town centre a woman in her 40's got beaten badly enough to put her in hospital last week. This happened in a busy street in the town centre and wasn't even dark. I'm worried about my teenage sons moer than anything.

Crumbs1 · 02/07/2017 22:10

Yes more likely to get hit by a car then anything else.

Justmuddlingalong · 02/07/2017 22:14

Do you suffer from anxiety or is this a recent feeling?

AgentProvocateur · 02/07/2017 22:15

Yes, you're hugely overreacting unless you live in downtown Damascus.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 02/07/2017 22:17

YABU - Anyone who is out when I'm out better fucking well be afraid of me, that's my attitude.

Shoxfordian · 02/07/2017 22:18

Yes

Probably a good plan to get some professional help if you feel that anxioua

ComputerUserNotTrained · 02/07/2017 22:21

It very much depends on where you live. Assuming you're in the UK somewhere, YABU.

M2R2 · 02/07/2017 22:29

I live in london, in a safe neighbourhood. All i can see on social media these days are ppl angry and attacking others.
We went to Westminster yesterday as my mum is visiting. To be honest i was anxious the whole time and was relieved to leave the place.

We even witnessed police putting someone to the ground. I am still not sure what was it about

OP posts:
Idrinkandiknowstuff · 02/07/2017 22:31

And how much violence did you see the whole time you were in Westminster? I'm going to stick my neck out here and guess none?

CheesesOfNazereth · 02/07/2017 22:31

Unless you live in Aleppo, yes, you're being ridiculous.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 02/07/2017 22:32

Love, things are no more dangerous for the likes of you and I than they have ever been. Indeed it's probably safer than ever Flowers

I suffered terribly from anxiety last year. I didn't need therapy or antidepressants or anything, but my GP prescribed beta blockers which were just brilliant. There's a lot of it about.

Justmuddlingalong · 02/07/2017 22:38

Social media...it's got a lot to answer for. Social media is also full of kind, helpful and selfless acts. If you are anxious, you will be focusing on the bad stuff. Step away from social media and see your doctor.

Hekabe · 02/07/2017 22:40

Social media just highlights these incidents more than we had ten years ago. There have always been incidents (sadly). Like a PP said, more likely to be in a car accident than anything.

M2R2 · 02/07/2017 22:41

A bit of history i did live in a war zone before coming to the UK. 10 years ago.
I know what is going on is nothing compared to MEA area. Maybe its like London was my safe zone, where i go anywhere and feel safe and protected. Now it feels anything can happen and the don't need guns for it.
Lots of anger.

There was a march in Westminster yesterday. You must have seen it if you were there?

M2R2 · 02/07/2017 22:44

I know i feel that social media creating bigger gaps unfortunately.

everthinkyouvebeenconned · 02/07/2017 22:45

currently there is less terrorism on the mainland than there was in the 70s and 80s

Perhaps with your past the curre t terrorism is triggering for you? Could you see someone to talk to maybe a ptsd counsellor for assessment. It might help you x

M2R2 · 02/07/2017 22:45

We went in the after noon. I think it was the end of the march. Lots of ppl with signs were leaving the area.

OP posts:
everthinkyouvebeenconned · 02/07/2017 22:46

Yes and there were people removed from a sit down occupation outside downing street. I saw that too

But nothing to be worried about

M2R2 · 02/07/2017 22:47

I think i better contact my gp and check it out.
I hate this feeling.

Gemini69 · 02/07/2017 22:49

No.. but I live on a very remote Scottish Island x

Trollspoopglitter · 02/07/2017 22:49

Lots of pedestrian crowds on Regent street, which was closed to traffic. A young lad with a walkie talkie was all the security between the crowds and a side street. I left shopping for another day - it would have been just too bloody easy plough a car through that crowd.
