That's a good idea. No one knows why you feel the way you do apart from you and past traumas can come back. It's hard to rationalise if you have hadcyerribke experienced

I wish you peace x

It was outside downing street where police was putting someone to the ground and i had all sort of thoughts of what was it about.
I just hope things will start to get better, it feels its heading to a dark place.

I saw that. They took a young guy away. You can't have sit down protests outside downing street. He would have known that and took his chances

Don't worry xx

Thank you for your thoughts

Trolls No it wouldn't have been. There was no traffic as you said. Not helpful to the OP

I am an online guardian reader but usually look at the DM as well just for interest in how the other half interprets things. The things they report there is enough to give anyone anxiety.....
I tend to see positive things on SM so maybe you should stop opening the links with sensation headlines

everthinkyouvebeenconned · 02/07/2017 22:55

I was on the march. Some people started a sit down protest during the march. It's a security risk and public order offence etc. I watched them take him away then everyone else seemed to get up

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/07/2017 22:57

Read your update, if you have lived in a conflict zone it is possible you may have PTSD and recent events could be very triggering. A chat with your GP sounds sensible.

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/07/2017 22:58

(I have PTSD and it can still be triggered but is much more manageable now I understand more about it)

notanevilstepmother · 02/07/2017 23:08

I was just thinking that, it sounds like recent events have triggered your feelings from before. Take care.

Trollspoopglitter · 03/07/2017 07:43

everthinkyouvebeenconned, that's your opinion on the situation which doesn't actually prove mine wrong. Unless you're going to pretend to be a top anti-terrorism expert on the Internet.

How is sympathising and validating OP's feelings not helpful? I was also around a certain ME city when random car bombs were a weekly occurrence. Rightly or wrongly, massive armed presence on the streets gave me a sense of security that I don't get in London.

Phosphorus · 03/07/2017 07:54

OP, your past will influence your opinion on what you saw yesterday, and your perception of risk.

If you'd spent your whole life in the UK, I'd say you were being daft.

In many places though, the police are a visible sign, enforcing a brutal/chaotic government outlook.

It's easy to look at the policing of demonstrations, and say 'agghh, the beginning of an oppressive approach to population control'.

The danger does exist, we are not so special; and saying 'it couldn't happen here' is ridiculous.

But look at the love for Corbyn. People are free to express that, and as things get more controlled, people are taking to the streets more.

Many conservative politicians would turn away from May, if only to increase their own chances in the next election.

While that sort of privileged, money-centred, politicking still exists, we are safe enough.

everthinkyouvebeenconned · 04/07/2017 00:00

Trolls mentioning what you did was not helpful.

Trollspoopglitter · 04/07/2017 00:08

... In your opinion. It's ok to disagree with me. It's not ok to try to regulate what others post.

LovelyBath77 · 04/07/2017 11:53

I agree, it is stressful and the news makes it worse! I have noticed an increased police presence on the streets including police on horses, apparently to reassure people but it just reminds me and makes it more stressful!

everthinkyouvebeenconned · 04/07/2017 23:00

YES Troll whatever.
