Mullerlight yogurts and mugshots should come with a health warning

I started doing .SW at home with the help of lots of online resources. I've never contemplated going to a class, as years ago I went to a WW one and couldn't bear it.

I hear a SW class is even more cringyBlush
Anyhow, 'syning' (what an awful word) things like houmous and avocado, and demonising olive oil , while pushing shite like mullerlighs and mugshots seems to be the order of the day. (Friend lasted six weeks but has now left)

Looking at the ingredients of both yesterday while shopping, i couldn't help thinking they looked like they were made in a laboratory,- lots of awful additives and chemicals.

AIBU to think Sw shouldn't be allowed to promote these 'foods' when they are anything but healthy.
Also, does anyone know if Mullerlight sponsor Slimming World?

I have been doing SW for six months and I've lost three stone, without ever eating a mug shot, I don't actually know what they are, I've never eaten a hifi bar and I have no muller yoghurts in my fridge. An example of what I might have; for breakfast, porridge with fresh fruit, for lunch, an omelette with mushrooms, fresh tomatoes and for dinner, chicken or salmon with veg or salad, and new potatoes or rice, followed by a bowl of fresh fruit. Don't criticise the plan if you haven't done it properly!

TequilaSunshine · 02/07/2017 11:41

You don't have to go to a class and hand over a fiver a week to know that demonising things like nut butters, avocado, and olive oil, and telling you you can eat unlimited chemical shite is just plain wrong

It doesn't demonise nuts, avocado, and olive oil, what are you actually on about? Have you ever been to SW?
You can eat all of those - nuts and oil as your healthy extra choices, and nobody's stopping you eating a full avocado every day if you wanted. It's still following SW.

TequilaSunshine · 02/07/2017 11:42

I seem to have hit a nerve!I

Erm, no. That's people correcting you on some of your incorrect statements, but if all you can come back with is "oooh I've hit a nerve" then I think that says it all.

Co1onelblimp · 02/07/2017 11:46

Are you a leader Tequila?

OP posts:
Tiredstressed · 02/07/2017 11:47

I don't think anyone has a gun to your head forcing you to attend a class. You have probably hit a nerve because of your tone. I would have thought that was entirely intentional.

Troubleshootingforever · 02/07/2017 11:48

OP yes you HAVE certainly hit a nerve with me. Because you are irritating me by bashing something which you have no first hand knowledge or experience of. I find that very annoying and a bit stupid of you.
The healthiness of the SW plan is up to each individual.
For info by the way ...... you're not actually doing SW Grin Grin Grin
You're not a member, have never been to a class and have no access to official resources Grin. But sure your mate told you there was a mugshot wrapper on the table Shock so you know all now Grin

I'm out now .... Wink

Mulch · 02/07/2017 11:49

I don't think the pp meant literally couldn't eat nuts. When a plan restricts nutritionally rich food such as Avacados, olive oil, Greek yogurt ect and then allow unlimited chemical constructions, you have to question their agenda.

Co1onelblimp · 02/07/2017 11:51

My question was about promoting mullerlights and mug shots and if they should be doing that.
Lots iof defensive replies by people saying they never eat them.not really answering the question though is it?

OP posts:
KoalaDownUnder · 02/07/2017 11:51

Those who say they don't push Muller Lights: did you see that chart someone posted upthread?!

Why on earth would Mullers be 'unlimited'? Confused

TequilaSunshine · 02/07/2017 11:52

Are you a leader Tequila?

Most definitely not. Just someone who has done SW for long enough to know what it actually entails!
What you're saying is wrong and I was just correcting it. Have an avocado every day if you want, and a handful of nuts - you'd still be sticking to plan.

HoldBackTheRain · 02/07/2017 11:52

Isnt it SW that has a recipe for cooking chicken in diet coke? That really does not sound good idea to me, and I'm a vegetarian!

KoalaDownUnder · 02/07/2017 11:53

What's this about?

Mullerlight yogurts and mugshots should come with a health warning
Tiredstressed · 02/07/2017 11:54

Ok, so no they have not been promoted to me. Neither of them. The free foods that have been promoted to me are fresh fruit, veg and lean meat.

passmethewineplease · 02/07/2017 11:55

Also it's not sin it's syn. It's not a sin to have a piece of chocolate. Grin

Slimming World believes it’s the synergy between the three components of the plan, ie. Free Foods, Healthy Extras and Syns, that makes Food Optimising effective at enabling weight loss.

Co1onelblimp · 02/07/2017 11:55

Yes I could have an avocado everyday and eat nuts and still be sticking to the plan, but you know as well as I do that eating that way is not what's promoted. Using your hex b for cereal bars is what' promoted much more.
Pretending otherwise diesn't make it true.

OP posts:
Tiredstressed · 02/07/2017 11:55

Can I ask why you care? You aren't a member. Even if you were a member, you control your own diet and so can make decisions about what you eat.

Co1onelblimp · 02/07/2017 11:56

Synergy is a made up word. Kinda says it allGrin

OP posts:
BraveBear · 02/07/2017 11:57

To be fair, going by the literature they gave me it's mostly very healthy. They do warn against overdoing the unlimited foods as well. It means don't worry about counting calories, have as much as you need - not feel free to eat five packets of back bacon.

tabulahrasa · 02/07/2017 11:58

"but you know as well as I do that eating that way is not what's promoted. "

You don't know though, you've never been...

TequilaSunshine · 02/07/2017 11:58

Ok, so no they have not been promoted to me. Neither of them. The free foods that have been promoted to me are fresh fruit, veg and lean meat.

Same. Surely that leaflet posted upthread is just ideas of things that you can eat as a treat?
Doesn't mean you have to go out and mainline strawberry mullers.

Ness1234 · 02/07/2017 11:58

Why all the SW bashing? It's a diet promoted by my GP, and it's your choice to go, at my class so many people have improved their health by losing weight. Please stop putting people off going because it is hard to get up the courage to go and get weighed. All this talk just about unlimited muller yoghurts, there many foods you can eat unlimited amounts of.

VelvetSpoon · 02/07/2017 11:59

Yes those horrible Alpen bars!

If you work, what do they suggest you have for lunch in those groups where they don't push mugshots ? I work ft, when I asked for breakfast and lunch ideas, as I'm at work for both meals, I was told i should have overnight oats (made with a muller!) For breakfast and mugshot and another muller for lunch...

Tiredstressed · 02/07/2017 11:59

Synergy is a word Hmm

passmethewineplease · 02/07/2017 11:59

Exactly brave, it's about using some common sense.

You are always told to pick on fruit and veg rather than opting for free foods.

Mullerlights aren't the devil. Grin

passmethewineplease · 02/07/2017 12:00

Yes synergy is a word OP.

SW didn't make it up.
