I have a consultation tomorrow and I am nervous !!

Basically I am 37 and I just look a bit "tired" ....I used to have lovely plump lips but I think they have started to deflate a little bit sadly, so I am just thinking of getting a tiny amount of lip filler just so they look like they used to, I still want them to look natural. And botox wise I just want to look a little fresher and more awake.

I have done months of research and even went as far as to go through a consultation at SK:N clinic and book a treatment but I bottled out in the end because the customer service was absolutely shocking

The clinic I am going to tomorrow is a dentist, and I have heard they are the best people to administer botox etc as they know the anatomy of the face muscles better than a nurse or doctor.

Anyway does anyone want to admit to having had either / both? And want to share experiences? What I most want to know is did you get good results !!

I've had lip fillers 4 or 5 times. Absolutely loved the results every time. 1 syringe of juvederm to correct my flat top lip and bring more balance as my bottom lip is far bigger. Had a little in the fine lines either side of my mouth which did correct them but they're so faint, they're barely noticeable anyway.
Doesn't hurt for me- the nurse puts on a very effective numbing cream. You feel a pinch but it doesn't really hurt.
You do need some 'down time' with lip fillers- I've only not bruised on one occasion and it usually takes 3 days for the swelling to subside. Last time, I was still swollen the day before going to work, but luckily had an ugly allergic swelling reaction to a new moisturiser that night, so passed the lips off as the same thing.

It's a bit addictive, and every two sessions, I have conflicting thoughts about the fact that it's the equivalent of a LV handbag, and then guilt for being vain and materialistic.

Love my botox! I've had it every 3-4 months for the last year or so. I have it round my eyes to reduce the crows feet and slightly lift the brows at the outer edge. My eyeshadow is so much easier to put on now as I have a decent surface to work on!
I absolutely look better for it and feel so much more confident.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 29/06/2017 22:47

I've had tear trough filler under my eyes, botox and filler in my lips. I go to a doctor for mine. These are my lips and they are subtle. The doctor said my lips are slightly asymmetrical but that isn't something you should correct with filler and it makes Me unique anyway. He's a plastic surgeon and pricey, but I think it's worth paying a bit more. The filler lasts 14 months.

I'm also 37

missiondecision · 29/06/2017 22:52

Far. How was tear trough? I've considered that.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 29/06/2017 22:55

They are great. Very subtle but if done properly just make you look refreshed. Again these really need to be done by an expert, as it's such a delicate area. I really do think a plastic surgeon is the best option. They bruise a little, as you can't predict when you're going to hit a blood vessel, but the swelling quickly goes down.

missiondecision · 29/06/2017 23:10

Thanks . In reality I'd prob b too nervous of it going wrong.
How long did it last?

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 29/06/2017 23:15

It lasts 14 months. My surgeon has been doing it 20 years and never had it go wrong but he is literally the only person I would trust.

Pissedoffinsomniac · 29/06/2017 23:23

Who's your surgeon far and where are they based?

user100987 · 29/06/2017 23:32

Omg your lips are stunning! Yes please where and who?!!

JuicyCake · 29/06/2017 23:34

I really like my face the way it is, so I wouldn't have anything done. But I think it's fine to change something, if you don't like it.
I know women who've had work, such as Botox & filler, done. The reason it's always obvious, is that the rest of us haven't.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 29/06/2017 23:45

Sorry but I disagree Juicy. It is absolutely NOT always obvious. Some people may get carried away and go too far, but a lot of people like me go for the subtle fresher look.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 29/06/2017 23:47

Tim Blackburn at the spire in Cheshire. He's incredible.

Elphame · 29/06/2017 23:52

I loved my botox but after a couple of years it just stopped working on me. The last time it was redone twice but no effect at all. Apparently you can become immune to it which I guess is what has happened to me.

SofaToad · 30/06/2017 00:13

I had Botox a few times, done by a top facial surgeon. It was OK but what made me look better in the end was having surgery. Having a facelift before you get old and saggy means you don't get old and saggy so rather than having it done in your 50's when things have dropped, if you have it done in your 40's it is less drastic.

Back to the question, I really didn't see much benefit to Botox, my lines were covered by my hair anyway and I looked tired because I had nasolabial folds which really didn't respond to Botox at all. In the end I decided I didn't want poison injected every few weeks and opted for surgery. I have never had lip surgery, fillers etc.

Chickpea212 · 30/06/2017 00:28

One of my friends has botox but only a very small dose in her forehead. She still has wrinkles & her face is animated when she talks, so you can't really tell. IMO it looks weird when someone has a completely smooth face. Im sure I read that Yasmin le Bon just does her forehead but not her eyes & she looks fab & natural. Personally I hate lip fillers & think they pretty much always look fake. The lips are either too puffy/swollen or protrude outwards.

Thanks all Flowers

The lady who posted her lips 👄!! Wow!! Absolutely beautiful

Well the Dr was really lovely and said I definitely didn't need lip filler. He said he wouldn't be happy giving it to me.

He said my skin is fairly good but I could probably benefit from a touch of Botox at the side of my eyes to lift my eyebrows and eyelids slightly as I have hooded lids

So I have made an appointment and will let you know how I get on (if anyone is interested lol)

Hi Calling. I started having forehead Botox at age 40. I have it about twice a year for frown lines and horizontal lines. It's brilliant. I've never had a "frozen forehead", it just looks smooth and refreshed.

I've also had a tiny amount of filler to the lines between the nose and mouth. This lasts longer than Botox and you only need a touch up every 12-18 months.

Most women I know have had something and nobody looks crazy! I never heard of Botox around the eyes tbh? He must be using a tiny amount, I would think.

Confusedandintrigued · 01/07/2017 20:05

Oh trust me... you'll see the results by then.

So say 3 I don't have the 11 frown between my eyebrows. Day 5 I'm looking fresh faced and, well, glowing!

ihatetosay · 01/07/2017 20:10

had it this morning again just have a small amount as it can make your forehead feel heavy. I also had filler in my sleep line by my nose it instantly disappeared. I am 50 and love it

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 01/07/2017 20:11

Loved Botox. Still have it every 6 months but found a dermatologist who is of the "less is more" school and I only have it on my no. 11's! Crows feet when I smile is fine. I have overdone it previously and my eyebrows just did not move at all for 2 months - I cringe about it now.

Filler was much more painful and I didn't like the results - wouldn't bother again. Smile I do have thin lips though and just looked as though I had a bad case of boils. Plus I got a face full of cold sores for the first time in years. Bah.

Confusedandintrigued · 01/07/2017 20:17

I have baby Botox btw

Much more subtle than full Botox.

At 36 unlikely you do not need full Botox and much less risk of the downsides as the amount is less.
