Lovely! As long as you don't sit like the woman in the second picture. She looks like she has haemorroids Shock

GlitterRoseGold · 29/06/2017 08:50

Yea they both look lovely, although I prefer the lighter coloured one for a christening

00100001 · 29/06/2017 08:52

I wouldn't have thought the slit was appropriate

Thekissbyklimt13 · 29/06/2017 08:52

If the dress shows a bare leg almost up to the crotch when you sit down, as in photo 2, then no!

NotFeelingMyselfJusyNow · 29/06/2017 08:56

Love the shoes but I think the slit up the dress isn't appropriate. Also both may be quite low cut depending on boob size

SheSaidHeSaid · 29/06/2017 08:59

Yes, as long as you don't sit like that woman in the middle pic.

If you're worried about the split could you sew it up or pin it so it's not quite so high?

PotOfYoghurt · 29/06/2017 08:59

Could you put a temporary stitch in the slit? Then it would work.

troodiedoo · 29/06/2017 09:03

It's lovely but yes I would pin the split. It is a bit gusty at the moment as well.

DisorderedAllsorts · 29/06/2017 09:04

No because when you walk your leg will show unless you wear a slip underneath. M & S have these slips which are lightweight & will let the dress hang properly.

If you're in a church you don't want to be drawing attention to yourself by constantly adjusting your clothes.

I think they are fine. I wore wrap dresses for my DC's christenings as they allowed easy breast feeding. My thighs were never revealed.

Iamastonished · 29/06/2017 09:32

It is nice to dress up for a christening, but it isn't a wedding, so as long as you look smart you will be fine. It is always very obvious who is part of the christening party at our church because people don't wear "Sunday Best" to church these days.

millymae · 29/06/2017 09:53

Lovely dress and shoes, but I think you might find that you will be constantly adjusting the dress so that you don't give everyone an eyeful of your bra/breasts and thighs. Whose christening is it? If you are just a guest then it' will fine but if you are someone that will be spending a lot of time holding the baby or bending down then I'd find something more practical. The dress looks to have quite a low 'v' and a high split and if you are spoiling the line of the dress by having to hold the baby then it may well be that you will end up displaying more of you than might becosidered appropriate.

I think any of those dresses would look lovely. People are just saying don't flash your pants that's all! Grin

dresdenshepherdess · 29/06/2017 11:44

I think the first one in your second lot of pics is lovely (the blue patterned one), and appropriate for summer church christening.

carefreeeee · 29/06/2017 11:50

Any dress that doesn't show leg above knee, cleavage, or figure hugging would be fine. If your shoulders are out wear a cardigan whilst in church. The patterned one is nice or the first one you could wear if you sew up the slit and wear something over the top half. I don't think flashy heels are really appropriate for church - flat sandals or more modest shoes would be better. Those shoes are lovely but for a night out or party not going to church!

I have the asos dress and it needs a top under it as is very low cut and also exposes a lot of leg when you sit. It hangs really nicely though and is flattering if you have any bumpy bits to hide.

AuntieStella · 29/06/2017 11:59

I think the ones linked to the original post are very suitable.

And possibly the plain navy one from the further post. The other two are too dressy (Christenings are Sunday Best, not full-on smart).

Bluntness100 · 29/06/2017 11:59

Honestly, they would all work. Don't worry, I like the blue and white one in your second lot of pics best, but they all work and there is no reason a wrap dress should be indecent.

unfortunateevents · 29/06/2017 12:19

For any christenings I have been to, or any in our local church (RC), that outfit would be more dressy than most people. It's more like something for a wedding? The wrap dress looks like it will gape at the front and the slit is very high. I think you'll spend the whole day pulling at various bits of your outfit. Just wear one of the dresses you already have.

Tazerface · 29/06/2017 12:26

Any are fine. It's a wrap dress have people never seen them before? Confused it's only split to the crotch because of the pose!
