To ask if you decided not to vaccinate your children

Do you regret it? Did they catch any of the diseases that they could have been vaccinated for and what was the outcome?

And anyone who did get their children vaccinated - did they catch any of the diseases anyway? And do you regret vaccinating for any reason?

This isn't intended to start a debate for or against vaccination generally as that's been done many times, I'm more just interested in your personal experiences if you'd be willing to share them. Thank you.

Oh and yes, they have the flu vaccine too.

I also have the flu vaccine (asthmatic). They aren't asthmatic but for me, I want to protect my kids from diseases that are as a whole preventable.

I have no ill feelings or negativity towards those who choose not to vaccinate. It's their choice. I also believe that if there is a member of society that can't have the vaccine for medical purposes, blowing off at anti-vaxxers won't necessarily protect you. If you have a weakened immune system there are HUNDREDS of other bacterial and viral diseases that are not routinely vaccinated against that could easily compromise your immune system. Many of us walk around and pass on chicken pox, meningitis, strep bacteriums etc. If someone had a weakened immune system, they are compromised daily by walking amongst everyone never mind the anti vaxxers.

We are talking about vaccinations in general. You don't know who is from where and we really don't need you telling the foreigners that they aren;t allowed to post.
Someone has to counter your gubbins.

PetalsOnPearls · 29/06/2017 21:34

AND, where did I tell foreigners they aren't allowed to post?

Nowhere.

Nowhere at all.

PetalsOnPearls · 29/06/2017 21:35

"Someone has to counter your gubbins."

The gubbins that i took off the NHS website? Oh MY DAYS. I've heard it all.

PetalsOnPearls · 29/06/2017 21:37

Just a reminder of what you posted earlier

""AndTakeYourHorseWithYou Thu 29-Jun-17 20:42:08
Funny that we can't rely on herd immunity because so many dimwits won't vaccinate because of shit they heard online? ""

Then you dish out information that may not be applicable to the situation, and may go against the guidelines of the medical provisions of that country.

And then, to wrap it off, when someone shares information from a reputable source, you go on about gubbins and make another false accusation.

Bet your a scream in real life. An absolute hoot.

Whereas as you just keep repeating lines from the advisory booklet. For no good reason.
Did you have a point at any time or did your forget it?

PetalsOnPearls · 29/06/2017 21:41

"Whereas as you just keep repeating lines from the advisory booklet. "

Another mistruth there. I've shared opinions, backed up with facts and research.

Dc have had all nhs recommended vaccines. I had measles at age 7 (35 now) and I remember being very poorly. Was made to lie in a dark room all day, curtains closed and no tv on with Dr coming to see me everyday. I nearly ended up in hospital. It was really awful. I did have vaccines as a child, but maybe I didn't have that one?

PetalsOnPearls · 29/06/2017 21:45

"I did have vaccines as a child, but maybe I didn't have that one?"

You can still catch measles after a single dose of MMR (5% chance), and this decreases to a 1% chance after the second dose of MMR - it's why we now have two doses on most programmes.

So, AndTakeYourHorseWithYou, you want compulsory vaccination but not for the flu vaccination because you don't think children need it? How would that work in the UK then, where flu vaccine is on the schedule? Is it up to you to decide what is on the compulsory list?

PopcornBits · 29/06/2017 21:57

Vaccinations do not stop you from catching the disease! Why would you think that?

Vaccines simply allow your body some immunity to the disease so that if you do catch it, your body already knows how to fight it. That's what vaccines do, they don't have an ability to stop you from catching it, just simply allows your body to learn the virus so that it knows how to protect you if you ever catch it.

When you don't vaccinate, then of course that's a choice you make, your child will suffer more greatly because of that if he/she catches a horrible Illness that a vaccine could have potentially allowed your body to fight off much quicker.

There is one vaccine I do not agree with and that's the HPV vaccine. There have been too many reports of side effects with this vaccine and I believe that it's very risky.

Otherwise I'm a firm believer that you do need to vaccinate.

I vaccinated both my children with everything recommended because I'm not an utter numpty who doesn't give a shit about others.

AdoraBell · 29/06/2017 23:52

ittakes2 · 30/06/2017 11:11

So, AndTakeYourHorseWithYou, you want compulsory vaccination but not for the flu vaccination because you don't think children need it?

I want compulsory vaccination for things like MMR, yes. It wouldn't be up to me if flu vax was on that list, MY dr's and MY country tell me that only one of my children needs the flu vaccine, and my own knowledge backs that up.
YOUR country and schedules is your own affair.

ArgyMargy · 30/06/2017 19:22

Yes. And MY country is not interested in compulsory vaccination, thank goodness.
