To think no-one looks good with cheek fillers?

Yet those I know who have had it done think they look great.
But to me they look like they've just come out of the boxing ring, all un-naturally puffy with tiny slitty eyes.
Are they are so bigged up by the surgeons/filler people that they walk out brain washed, genuinely believing they look years younger and not like a middle aged woman with very unnatural pillow cheeks, which is all I see?!
Obviously, no one wants to look old and I myself will admit to being really quite vain but this is not a good look and never will be, imo. Each to their own I suppose.
Oh and don't get me going on the lip enhanced thing either!!

I feel that many reach a point where they are sort of painted into a corner, they reach the limits of what procedures can done whilst still looking natural but it they allowed the face to age they'd be slated

Who are the oldest celebs who've had work done but still look good?
Ie not crossed over into 'humanoid but not quite human' territory

shinynewusername · 27/06/2017 10:42

Judi Dench?

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 27/06/2017 10:45

Oh I hadn't seen my beloved Tom morphing into a large headed hamster. Gutted.

provider5sectorzz9 · 27/06/2017 10:45

JD looks good but she looks her age
I mean someone who's older but still looks much younger than they are without looking weird

HarryBiscuit · 27/06/2017 10:46

Feral glad to hear at least some people have ethics in your industry.

RockyBird · 27/06/2017 10:47

What happens when they stop? Do they go back to their former glory or is it something that has to be kept up once started?

I imagine the first couple of times it's great then after that the weird effects start showing. I'm no expert though. What I'm trying to say is that people probably get more and more done thinking it will be as good as the first time. No one would ever do it if it just gave you weird puffy features.

provider5sectorzz9 · 27/06/2017 10:47

Men seem to be the worst offenders
Johnny Depp, Travolta 😞

hilbil21 · 27/06/2017 10:51

OP was it Carol vorderman on GMB that made you think of this?? I know I thought she looked awful this morning

JuicyCake · 27/06/2017 10:53

No matter how subtle the work, I can tell. Because if it is obvious that a woman is not a young woman (youth is youth) & her face is too good to be true... Then you can always do the maths.
I especially hate seeing young women getting work done though. I don't ever remember looking at my 23 year old face & thinking that I needed to change anything.
I know a woman who works in fashion, who's had the works. She's not yet 40 & looks terrible. It's having the opposite effect to what she thinks, but it's the norm at her workplace.
Those of us with nothing done look better.

Lunchtimeburrito · 27/06/2017 10:54

Christine Brinkley is one exception, at 62 she has obviously had work done but looks fab. Mind you she had a great platform to start with!

I think it looks worse when the person originally wasn't what would be considered a classic beauty (according to societal norms) because then the surgery seems to highlight that. Maybe that's why Angelina can get away with it more than, say, John Travolta who was always a bit flobby faced anyway (apologies to any JT fans!)

Lunchtimeburrito · 27/06/2017 10:56

Haha yes hilbil it was, I appreciate she's had a rough few months but her face was way too puffy and her eyes so slitty. Such a shame because she is an attractive lady she really doesn't need all that crap.

I'd say Brad Pitt must have had some work done, but certainly doesn't look like he has, he looks a good 10 years younger than his age!

Bluntness100 · 27/06/2017 11:13

I think Jane Fonda looks great considering she's eighty pretty much.

Jane fonda looks fabulous 😊

bluesbaby · 27/06/2017 11:41

Stacey Dash is one of those immortal creatures.
Although Joan Collins is very glam I do think she looks good for her age. She hasn't got that lumpy puffy look others who have had work done seem to have.

In photos, maybe. But DH and I were right next to her in a theatre audience a couple of years ago (she eyed up DH's bum Wink) and she looked incredibly weird: a totally smooth face on an (age-appropriate) old lady's body. Her face looked like an Egyptian mummy's mask. It made me much more conscious of her age because of the weirdness and the face/body contrast.

provider5sectorzz9 · 27/06/2017 11:54

Joan Collins looks a bit more frail/elderly from a physique point of view, Jane fonda has a more youthful looking body
It's not just a person's face that makes them seem youthful it's how much muscle mass they still have, do they have an upright posture etc

kw1091 · 27/06/2017 12:05

It's not your face so why do you care? None of your business how people choose to make themselves look. Mind your own.

WaahImTellingTheDorchester · 27/06/2017 12:35

Why people pay for it all I don't know- they could just as easily stick a pile of sunflower seeds in each cheek for a start. Hamsters have been doing this to great effect for YEARS.

shinynewusername · 27/06/2017 12:57

The smug furry bastards do have the advantage of a 2 year life expectancy though Waahim Smile

Lunchtimeburrito · 27/06/2017 13:00

kw1091 because I have a 9 yr old dd and I don't want her growing up in a world where it's frowned upon to age. My friend's dd is 19 and most of her friends are already having Botox and lip filler parties because they fear they are starting to look old already ffs!! When will this obsession end?!

Scrumpernickel · 27/06/2017 13:03

Cheap lip fillers that people are having done at their hairdressers are the very worst. I saw a young woman the other day with slug like lips that I had to force myself to stop staring at. Really disfiguring.

Scrumpernickel · 27/06/2017 13:08

I'm sure Gillian Anderson has had the odd thing done but I doubt she’s had everything on that list. I mean she’s only 48 or so, and lots of 48 year old women look equally great without any cosmetic intervention. Especially people who’ve been hyper aware of keeping their face out of the sun as I suspect GA has.

StarCrossdSkys · 27/06/2017 13:23

I know she's not well liked on here but I thought Jo Whiley was looking good on the Glastonbury coverage. She's 52 and basically looks the same as she always has.
