To ask how long your 'everyday' shoes last and where you buy them from?

Just that. I wear plain, low-heel, sensible shoes for work and, although I probably do walk more than most people, they don't seem to last that long before the heels are falling apart or they let in water. Where's best for long lasting, good quality shoes?

Fitflop Oxford style shoes - my current pair have lasted 3 years and are really comfortable but smart enough for the office.

leccybill · 25/06/2017 21:48

Clarks here too. I'm on my feet all day.
When I'm skint, I do really rate New Look shoes for value and comfort.

emsyj37 · 25/06/2017 21:49

Clarks here - but if you do a lot of walking on your commute, I think the easiest thing to do is wear trainers for that and keep your naice shoes at work. That's what I did when I worked in London and had about 45 mins of walking each way.

DandelionAndBedrock · 25/06/2017 21:52

I love Skechers GoWalk but my physio told me off for wearing them (hip/leg problems). He said they are light and cushioned but don't actually provide support, so not great for long term use. Not sure if that is the case if you don't have limb issues.

Barefoot789 · 25/06/2017 21:57

New Look and would only expect a season out of them, possibly two. So need to buy new each summer/Winter.
I know it's a false economy to buy cheap shoes but I never have £50 plus for shoes when I need them.

PinkFluffs1 · 25/06/2017 21:58

Charlotte Olympia slippers. Had them 2 years. All terrain wear and tear. Not bad!

When I wasn't pregnant I wore my Christian Louboutin boots almost every day and they look great besides a few scuffs.

I don't take care of my shoes at all, so they have held up very well in my opinion!

Butttons · 25/06/2017 22:01

Hush puppies. Have worn them for ages and cycle several pairs so each last longer. Gutted they discontinued 2 of my favourite styles within the last 2 years so constantly scouring eBay now

piefacedClique · 25/06/2017 22:01

I wear boots by Fly London or the solid ugg boots all winter and then straight in to havaianas from April till October!h winters are 3 years old, some havaianas I have are 14 years old!

CountFosco · 25/06/2017 22:02

It will depend how many 'everyday' pairs of shoes you have. I have 30 pairs of shoes, I never wear shoes more than once a week, my shoes last years and years, even the cheap ones. My oldest pair of boots are 20 years old, they've been resoled a couple of time but still are smart enough for work.

On the other hand, DH buys one pair of Adidas Sambas, wears them everyday (including cycling to work when they get soaked and covered in mud) and they last 6 months. Then he wonders why his shoes don't last.

PinkSnowAndStars · 25/06/2017 22:04

Trainers - all the time!!

(I work in A&E so it's allowed Grin )

This pair were a £30 of DCs and I've had them about a year.

Wheredidthebackboobscomefrom · 25/06/2017 22:12

Hush puppies are like clouds for your feet and last ages

Witchend · 25/06/2017 22:19

I wear plimsolls. They last about 2-3 months of constant wear, but at only £2.50 each that's fine.

WeddingsAreStressful · 25/06/2017 22:20

Ecco for work - I find them to be very good quality and very good for my feet.
Hotter sandals for holidays - have resigned myself to ugly comfy sandals

fanfrickintastic · 25/06/2017 22:22

I had a pair of primark boots, £15 that I wore every day for 9months whilst pregnant and afterwards before they fell apart (sole split), I bought a pair of boots from office to relace them, £75 in the sale, they split in 3 months. I was most annoyed.

PookieDo · 25/06/2017 22:24

I refuse to buy sensible shoes. I have about 25 pairs of shoes none of them very practical. They fall apart or hurt my feet I don't care.

My favourite shoes are leather converse but I can't wear these at work

Shenanagins · 25/06/2017 22:27

Trainers going to and from work and change into heels at work. Therefore the heels last longer and I don't completely wreck my knees walking to and from the office.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 25/06/2017 22:29

I have some leather brogues from Office which I wear for work

I work 3 days a week and have had them about 3 years now and they are showing hardly any signs of wear!

EatTheChocolateTeapot · 25/06/2017 22:32

Clarks, wouldn't recommend Pavers

Susiethetortoiseshellcat · 25/06/2017 22:33

I used to buy flats for work from places like topshop, new look, dp etc but two years ago I got some from Clarks, have worn them pretty much every day since and they're still going strong. So comfortable as well.

AnotherQuoll · 25/06/2017 22:38

Fila walking shoes. They're a few years old now but still in good nick and still give great cushioning under my heels, meaning my (arthritic) back doesn't get so sore when I'm walking distances. Doc Martens are fantastic like that too.

Fruu · 25/06/2017 22:44

Ecco hiking sandals in summer and DMs in winter, both of which are not terribly cheap. I've walked 1 1/2 hours a day in both for my commute. The Ecco sandals tend to last 2-3 years or more, and the DMs much longer, although they aren't nearly as comfortable (require breaking in, decent socks and probably some kind of additional comfort sole!) Ecco hiking sandals are not exactly smart, but I think they make more sensible shoes too.

The last pair of smart office Clark's I bought lasted about 3 months, had no traction if the pavement was even slightly slippery and leaked pretty much immediately, utter rubbish.

I usually wear men's shoes due to having wide feet though, and I'm not sure if that makes a difference as to quality within a brand!

Allthewaves · 25/06/2017 22:47

rocket dog as their flats are pretty but supportive

CakeNinja · 25/06/2017 22:48

I bought 4 pairs of 'work shoes' at the start of the school year, probably spent about £300 in total.
They're from Office and Kurt Geiger, sensible flat/low heeled for school.
Have worn them occasionally out of school too.
They'll all be binned at the end of the year as they're a bit fatty and not that smart looking anymore!

CakeNinja · 25/06/2017 22:52

They aren't looking fatty, that's me Grin
They do look a bit tatty though!

calli335 · 25/06/2017 22:54

Crocs ballet shoes. I have three pairs and they're so comfy!
