To think Hotpoint are shitheads

2015 my under warranty Fridge Freezer started to play up. As it was over the Xmas period and peak tumble dryer gate they told me I had to wait two weeks for an engineer to look at it.

I pointed out it was definitely broken as it was smoking. And therefore somewhat dangerous. I unplugged it, and got rid. Losing the fridge and contents.

When I further complained they insisted I keep the fridge in situ in my kitchen for an engineer to look. End of.

They wouldn't accept photos, or any other solution. I told them it was a fire hazard and they STILL expected me to keep it in my home for two weeks if I wanted it repaired or replaced.

That was two years ago. Having seen there response to Grenfell and that they are only NOW suggesting people check their appliances I'm disgusted. Sad

How many other people have dealt with Hotpointbeing unreasonable, I know when I mentioned this on here at the time loads of you had had issue with them.

I have a new washing machine which has been through two wash cycles. Each time it smells like burning or melting rubber. Should I ask to have it replaced (brand new) or is that standard? (don't recall same smell with other washing machines).

Tbh, Hotpoint have been pretty rubbish to their customers for at least 20 years. I definitely remember things from when I was a child, and I remember them being on watchdog when I was young too because of how rubbish they are.
When I moved out I made sure I didn't buy Hotpoint and have stuck to that ever since.
I always thought they just treated customers badly though, only in recent years have I seen they're a dangerous company too. They really had to have their arms twisted with the dryer issue. Horrible, horrible company.

user a burning smell is definitely not normal! Where did you buy it from and who was the retailer? I'd start by contacting them.

User : I would also check there isn't any packaging left in there.

Yes, they are shitheads. In November 15 I logged my details with them re the tumble dryer thing and then heard nothing. In April 17 they got back to me to book an engineer to come out - and of course in the meantime I'd replaced the dryer (because it was crap). Yesterday Hotpoint rang me to chase me getting the engineer in - like it was suddenly dangerous and urgent. I pointed out 18 months had passed.

HoneyDragon, I really think you should contact the police on either 101 or look for a specific number associated with Grenfell, look for the detective leading the inquiry and contact their team about this. Send them all the info and texts you've kept. The cladding should never have happened but the start of this horror was because of that appliance. They should be in the spotlight and not hiding behind the cladding company hoping not to be called up.

Oh fuck, we recently bought a Hotpoint fridge freezer and cooker. Already having problems with the fridge as the seal around the door keeps coming loose. On the phone HP said they don't have the parts at the moment but will be in touch on Monday....we'll see.

HoneyDragon would you mind telling me the model number of your fridge freezer please?

MargotLovedTom1 · 25/06/2017 08:57

Built in oven, rather than cooker. And it's a bit crap Sad.

I've just googled the model number of the FF.

Patchouli666 · 25/06/2017 08:58

It's the metropolitan police you need to google. Then click on the contact us bit and the form is great, asks what you need to contact them about. It has a section for a current investigation. Really think you'd be helping them if you did that ( the Grenfell victims moreso)

Patchouli666 · 25/06/2017 09:00

Posted too soon! Who knows how long the poor resident had had to put up with a faulty appliance? But they had to, no money to replace and they needed a fridge.
Fucking hotpoint
