Sorry I am posting here for traffic.

Is there anyway I can check if I got a speeding ticket before it comes in the post?

Thank-you in advance.

Oh, suck it up!
If you were speeding, you were speeding, end of.

And of course speeding IS dangerous driving - stop deluding yourself Hmm

grannytomine · 23/06/2017 17:37

I've been driving for over 40 years, it's never happened to me. My husband has been driving for over 50 years, never happened to him. On that vast survey I'd say no, it really doesn't happen to people who obey the law. Hope you have learned your lesson.

CherylVole · 23/06/2017 17:37

hark at all the angel drivers - you cant be on ANY motorway I am ever on!

WHy do you need to find out before it comes, OP?

CherylVole · 23/06/2017 17:38

lots of people speed and its not automatically dangerous

It is automatically potentially dangerous - do we really need to have a physics lesson here about speed and brakes and momentum and friction and deceleration etc??

And who said I was an angel driver....? Blush

CherylVole · 23/06/2017 17:41

Speeding is over 70 on a motorway.
I don't think that 71 is significantly more dangerous

My FIL lost a leg from a driver going at 20mph - all sorts of driving is dangerous

littlebird7 · 23/06/2017 17:41

Op I am guessing if you are a professional driver you are concerned that you may be disqualified, you can make a plea for the courts if this happen and they will listen to any hardship case.

Cheryl - quite! If we had all of these perfect drivers on the roads there would be no accidents ever and the government coffers would lose millions overnight. I have lost count how many people pass me doing at least 90 every day.

Holidaygirlsummer · 23/06/2017 17:41

Cheryl

It is "automatically dangerous" as your speed for the surroundings around you will not be correct, there for making the situation a dangerous one .

Can you explain to me how it wouldnt be " automatically dangerous" please?

grannytomine · 23/06/2017 17:42

Took my DD to school one day, she waited to cross the road, an adult called her over, speeding car hit her. I saw her fly through the air and land with her head about 2 inches from the kerb, another two inches and I think she might have had a fractured skull or worse. Saw her suffer for months. I'd happily ban all speeders for life.

Pickerel · 23/06/2017 17:42

Feeling your pain OP. I got caught on a speed camera for the first time last month, and I've been driving for 26 years!

I've opted to go on the course instead of getting points. You'll be offered one too if you were going below a certain speed (86 in a 70 area).

Elendon · 23/06/2017 17:42

Of course speeding kills. You do know that though.

I'm afraid that you probably do have a speeding ticket. Don't worry if it's your first one though. It's a fine and it goes onto your licence for a few years.

CherylVole · 23/06/2017 17:43

i have banned more people from drivng than I care to remember. Heard THOUSANDS of speeding cases.
I do think people should not speed because they should obey the law. They should also accept the risk when they speed that they will be caught
I wouldn't ever be holier than thou about it.

Redglitter · 23/06/2017 17:43

Can I just point out that Op DIDNT actually kill or injure anyone, non one actually died

Oh well that's ok then. Hmm

BarbarianMum · 23/06/2017 17:43

Maybe you should try that line about speed not killing in court OP .

CherylVole · 23/06/2017 17:43

not all areas offer the courses FWIW

It simply doesn't. Not all speeding cases kill people

Elendon · 23/06/2017 17:44

Though, as others have said you do have the option of a course. Trust me, you will not be the only one.

grannytomine · 23/06/2017 17:44

Driving within the speed limit doesn't mean you can't have an accident but it is less likely to do serious damage. If my daughter had been hit by a car doing 20 she would still have been hurt but it would have done less damage. At the speed the driving was doing she was lucky there was no lasting damage.

CherylVole · 23/06/2017 17:46

Its just the smug tone on here from posters that gets my goat.

Having seen the huge cross section of people who speed, to read the ' told you so' posts on here it simply doesn't reflect the range of people who do, illegally speed

grannytomine · 23/06/2017 17:48

It simply doesn't. Not all speeding cases kill people Good job you didn't come and say that to me on one of the days that my DD was screaming in pain. I might have been in court for murder. Do you think it is OK to maim people, to cause brain damage, to inflict pain?

BarbarianMum · 23/06/2017 17:49

Not all drink drivers kill people Cherylvole. Doesn't make it safe.
