Jamie, they get their rent paid and a small amount of cash after. This is what the bloody legal case was about. we are talking a small amount of people in specific circumstances and the right wing nutters are out to crucify them.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 22/06/2017 20:56

Agreed. You can't.

Unless you are either vicious or stupid.

chilipepper20 · 22/06/2017 20:58

Ahh yes the 'choice' to live in London.
Social cleansing at its best.
The choice to be near support, kids in schools they are happy
To be near parents that need care or you need help from.
To be near jobs.

A huge portion of the population commutes to work in central London.

I think almost everyone supports preventing homelessness, but the question is how far do you go. I'd say living in the most expensive part of the continent is a little extravagant.

And please, social cleansing? There have been real victims of social cleansing and I think not being supported in a place most europeans couldn't afford isn't it.

yup, kids have to move schools. yup, you might have to move away from support, but like everyone you will find a new support network. This is the story of every immigrant everywhere.

makeourfuture · 22/06/2017 20:59

It's ideological isn't it? Makes no economic sense. Just pure punishment.

Dawndonnaagain · 22/06/2017 20:59

They get £20,000 in cash and benefits for doing nothing FFS, they are NOT on the BONES of their arses. Go get a job.
Goodness me, you like embarrassing yourself in public, don't you.
THEY'RE NOT ON £20,000!
One woman, one child unlikely unless it's rent. One of these women was in a refuge. They are on the bones of their arses.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 22/06/2017 21:00

I agree make.

People get really annoyed when you say Tories hate the poor and want to punish them..but this thread proves that they do.

PortiaCastis · 22/06/2017 21:04

Fucking hell !!!
When you've been in a single room in a refuge after running from DV then tell me I was not on the bones of my arse

Some folk should do some basic research before coming on here and insulting people

PortiaCastis · 22/06/2017 21:05

Sorry but now I'm crying because I've been that woman in the refuge
Try it just bloody try it!!!!!!!!!!

mybrain · 22/06/2017 21:06

I personally think the judge was wrong.

The grounds for the ruling is discrimination for single parents with children under 2.

I still fail to see the benefit cap personally persecuted the majority of single parents with one or more children under the age of 2.

I would like to believe that there is more single working parents with one or more children under the age of 2 than non working parents.

Not sure where I would get that fact checked, but I am sure someone can provide a link?

I could could myself list about 10 reasons why an unskilled single parent with children under 2 might find it difficult to get a job, the risks of losing it etc etc

But I could also do the same for every other social economic group.

Should we just all just get benefits?

NameChanger22 · 22/06/2017 21:07

Where I live a 3 bed terrace house costs 7k a year to rent. Bills would be around 3k. Food about 3k. That would leave 7k to spend on non-essentials. It's not exactly slumming it.

I work and live on a lot less than this. I don't claim tax credits. I'm a single parent and not claiming benefits - sorry if that shocks some Daily Mail readers.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 22/06/2017 21:15

Portia dont let ignorant posters on this thread make you cry. They just have no idea

Thisarmingman · 22/06/2017 21:16

If you rent a place that costs £7k you won't get 20 grand. You'll get around £6k housing benefit and £73 a week dole plus £50 a week for your first child and less for the second. You'll get some of your council tax paid as well but you'll have to find at least 15% of it. And that's it. People who are on the dole don't just get handed £20 k a year.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 22/06/2017 21:16

They dont understand the maths and only understand being bitter and begrudging others money they dont even have.

PortiaCastis · 22/06/2017 21:21

I'm tired of the arrogance and ignorance.
Posting ignorant shite on a forum is a far cry from getting the crap beaten out of you running to a hostel and then have folk look down on you who have no bloody clue

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 22/06/2017 21:22

Theyre just silly and think people who arent working get handed megabucks.

We know that isnt true.

Thisarmingman · 22/06/2017 21:23

Fuckem Portia. They are literally clueless pointless wankers and you are a damn fine survivor.

FidgetSpinner · 22/06/2017 21:27

Yes, fuckem Portia, ignorant twats!

JamieXeed74 · 22/06/2017 21:29

They are on the BONES of their arses - The judge said they are Jamie Confused

No the judge never mentioned bones or arses.

The judge decided it was unfair they didn't get as much money as other people. And I disagree with the result because its ridiculous that some people on benefits take money from working people who earn less.

Thisarmingman · 22/06/2017 21:31

Yes the judge did say they were on the bones of their arses. He also said that you haven't got a clue. Yes, you personally.

Oh well lets overturn the judges decision as you disagree

NameChanger22 · 22/06/2017 21:39

So rent and council tax is paid. On top of that a single parent with one child would get £123 a week maximum to live. That's £6396 a year. Minus £2k for bills (no council tax) and 3k for food. It still leaves £1,396 for non-essentials. I agree it's not a fortune, but it's doable, especially if short-term. Most people would want to find a job pretty quick if they only had that coming in.

Thisarmingman · 22/06/2017 21:46

some rent and some council tax is paid. The rest - could easily be as much as £50 - comes out of the £125. Not sounding so cushty now is it.

And yes refuges are expensive. It costs around £300 a week just for a single woman with no kids. And any other temporary accommodation is around the same price.

MsHooliesCardigan · 22/06/2017 21:46

Portia Please don't listen to the idiots on here. I am glad you got away, you are so brave flowers]
